I know Speedo has no choice in who he picks as we have a small squad but Goalkeeper is one position he can change.

Do you think its time for Wright to be given a chance?

If he doesn't give Wright his chance now get rid next month Can't see the point paying him if he is only there to keep the bench warm!

My worry with both of these is that neither have played in a consistent run of games for years now!!
I think that was the problem with Bunny too (although i'm sure many would agree that he was just shit!)
If we put Wright in and he fucks up early then what do we do???

Give him a chance, Simmo has been looking poor for a few weeks now, that corner yesterday just summed it up!

Wright`s star was brightest just before Euro 2000, Tim Flowers and Nigel Martin wern`t doing the job for England, Wright was seen as the eventual No 1.

Prior to the Tournament England played a friendly Vs Malta, Wright dropped a bollock, never heard from again.

Had a decent career while never really fulfilling his promise, so I am sure he has it in him to shaft us

I would stick with Simmo, yes he needs pinning up against the wall (Morgs) - but I think he is the best we have.

I think it's time to give him a chance, many were saying the same thing yesterday. I think the defence lack confidence in him tbh. Also why dive the same way on the penalties all the time? Surely other teams what do their homework will pick up on this just incase they do get a penalty. Look at Brown in '03 went the same way all the time then in the play-off final they had it sussed.

If Wright doesn't get a chance now i bet he is wondering what on earth he has to do to get one.

Maybe he's done his homework? I haven't seen the highlights of yesterday and can't remember where he dived vs Palace - was it to his right, but not moving far from the middle by any chance?

Most penalty takers (stats show this) kick to their left, in which case consistently diving right is going to give you a long term edge. Stas also show that the 'keeper has a higher percentage chance of saving a shot by staying up the middle. So if he moves his weight to his right and waits to see what happens with the shot, he's giving himself a great chance, statistically.

I can't remember where I read all this guff, but it's out there. Google it. I play in goal for a (rubbish) five a side team and once did a bit of research. I've saved two from two this season :D

It's funny how people rate players up opposite ends of the pitch, Ched hasn't scored many, and gets branded one of the worst we ever had, Simmo has not had a good game for I don't know how long, yet he is not really spoken about, please don't tell me the price tag makes a difference because it's bollocks, he's there to do a job which he does not seem overly competent with at the moment, or am I alone in thinking that?

Simmo makes a few mistakes that cost us. He's slightly above average keeper for this level, but nothing more.

Evans fails week in, week out. In a 3 year period he will cost us about the same as an entire season's gate receipts. He IS rubbish.

It doesn't make Simmo better or worse, the 2 aren't related.

Been saying it for weeks.

I cannot remember him making a game changing save all season bar Portsmouth at home. For a GK, that's not good enough. A keeper should be judged on making these kind of saves in the same way as strikers are judged on goals that they score. We haven't got a striker who scores, we haven't got a goalkeeper that saves. All adds up to a relegation fight.

Was at a wedding so used the Score Centre app on iPhone. Looked at match stats, Brizzle had 4 shots on target, 3 goals. I accept that one of these doesn't count as a shot (the third) and two were penalties (which he never looks like saving anyway) but still: 50% shots to goals and a huge clanger = crap keeper. He isn't making saves and he isn't commanding his area. I spent years not believing the hype about Paddy Kenny - who I still think is decent Championship at best - for exactly these reasons. I want a keeper that can catch, command and make the occasional game changing save. Everyone else seems to have one so why don't we?!

As for Richard Wright, I'm not sure BUT he can't be any worse than Simonsen is. Give him a shot, see how he goes for a month before making a decision in January.

can anyone who has seen simmo play honestly say that wright or even the young keeper WILL definately be worse, i thought we had three keepers for a reason so if one is not performing we try another, seems counter productive to keep 3 keepers then only use one who is not producing the goods.
on a side note here, anyone think maybe the back four are nervous and making mistakes because they dont have much faith in simmo, secondry discussion maybe?

Continue playing Simmo, dropping a bollock when 2 - 0 down aint that bad.

honestly though, really what do we have to lose by putting wright in? simonson's hardly been on top form this month, and yeh he's old, but richard wright has international caps to his name

Although he needs to hold his hand up for the 3rd goal on Saturday he also pulled off a couple of excellent stops in the second half when we had been pulled open, without him it could have been 5 or 6. With the weakness and uncertainty that is going on in our defence at the moment I think it would be a mistake to make a major change at this point and change the keeper. Yes, he has not been the world beater we hoped but quite frankly given the carnage going on in front it's not surprising he's been exposed on a number of ocassions. It's always too easy to blame the goalie.
