Wonder what the chances are of getting Ramsay on loan from Arsenal. Back from his injury and in need of games it would be good to see him for a couple of months, especially if Reid goes back.

More chance of Gordon Ramsay.
ramseys gone to forest on loan
Some of you guys are going to have to realise sooner or later we can't afford to get these guys in on loan we just don't have the wages for it.
If our financial results told us anything it is that the wage bill needs to be addressed and that can't included throwing £15-25K a week on numerous loan signings.
At the moment we have Nos and Reid on large wages, Bartley will be on a good wage for us so there is going to be little chance of anyone else coming in on £25K + onloan.
I just can't see it, the wage bill needs to be cut not increased unless some are shipped out of course.
As Bob has said, we are so far out of that bracket in terms of finance that its not even worth suggesting anyone from the PL above the age of 20.
I suppose going for Andy Reid's a non starter then . . . . . Oh!
Is this an illusion or am I actually reading a bit of realism on this forum? I'll second the above Bob. You get some ridiculous posts on here at times suggesting we should/could sign the likes of Ramsay, Fryatt, Bentley etc. as if they're actually attainable!
I can understand supporters have a bit of fun with rumours and discussing what if scenarios but some of our fans really do need to look at our situation and get real. Otherwise they're just going to be constantly disappointed (as always) over the next few years.
As Bob has said, we are so far out of that bracket in terms of finance that its not even worth suggesting anyone from the PL above the age of 20. We are working very close to budget at the moment in terms of salaries and we simply cannot afford the kind of player that people on here link us with.
I cant believe anyone thought for a second that we could sign Aaron Ramsay!![]()
Yes, silly to think we could compete with a team like Forest. Ok - we've had bigger crowds than them in recent years, the Tevez money, millions from selling our best players, more recent parachute payments - but to expect us to compete with them is madness.

It is madness, Forest have always had more money than us. I dont know where they get it from or whether the funds even exist (i.e. spending what they havent got) but historically they've always had more financial clout than us.....like it or not.
Even if its a case of gambling, does that mean we should????
At the end of that day, Forest signing him is completely irrelevant. We cant afford him and that is quite clear.
"Forest have always had more money than us"? "Historically they've always had more financial clout than us"? Eh? No, they haven't.
Are you sure about that Deano? Really? I think a lot of people would disagree. Forest have always spent big and have been known to have relatively wealthy backers and board members. They were still spending money in the third tier, something we didnt do when we were there, even relative to the times! We'll agree to disagree on that but I feel there is an element of inner denial in your objection.
As for the golden word "ambition" - we tried that. Turns out it doesnt get you very far in football these days. If you're not convinced ask Hull, Charlton, Southampton, Leeds and our friends at S6.
Ambition has worked quite well with the likes of Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton & Fulham - all of whom have generally got by on smaller crowds and less turnover than us.
As for wealthy backers - we've got one - he just chooses to spend his money elsewhere.
But for every one you've named that has benefited from gambling, I have named one above that has gone the other way. That sort of strategy is therefore a gamble and will seemingly work 50% of the time (only for a few years and to end in tears eventually).
Wealthy backers are all well and good if a club can keep things going after they're gone. Clubs need to stand on their own two feet and by doing so we cant afford the Aaron Ramsay's of this world. I'm sure if such spending was viable for the club they would get them, ambition has nothing to do with it.
I'm sure fans of Stoke & Blackpool et al aren't worrying that the good times won't last for ever! They've shown some ambition & are having a great time in the here and now. That's what football is about - not plodding along being happy with mediocrity.
"Forest have always had more money than us"? "Historically they've always had more financial clout than us"? Eh? No, they haven't.
Given our turnover we should still be able to compete with just about every team in the Championship - and we should be much better off than most of them. A lot of it comes down to ambition & commitment from those at the top - something we've lacked for years.
Their chairman pumps in millions and millions per season, that's how. Without that money their losses would be a lot higher than the lot we just posted.
We can't afford Reid which is why there is no chance of us signing him, we can cover it short term but that's it.
Don't bother justifying it Bob. Deano knows for a fact that popular belief is incorrect and that Forest haven't got more money than us. He's also happy not to have a club in a few years as long as we piss money up the wall to "have a great time time in the here and now."

SCB - best if you don't try to be clever by putting words into other people's mouths or telling me what I do or don't want. The total lack of ambition, commitment and drive in our Boardroom is pushing us towards League 1. But hey, who cares, at least we'll be able to get the wage bill down even further.
don't come moaning about players wages when you've given numpties like monty quinn and cresswell enormous three year deals.. ok so cressy isn't a numpty, but three year deal??
and deano .. you forgot the most obvious example .. blackpool.. no way are forest bigger than us.. just check the attendance stats..what have these two clubs got in common?? had a decent manager for the last couple of years
