The edge.
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to point out that the blokes a revelation for us.sign him, simple.or the season is over.:eek::cry:

Would be great if we could nick him until at least Jan. At least then we might be able to re-group add one or two and wheel and deal. But unfortunately, it's not in our hands. Bruce and Reid have the final say.

Whilst Reid may not be in Bruces plans, he may be off to a club that can afford him. We obviously can't.The fella has a touch of class, especially in this division and I would love him to stay. He may also feel he should still be playing in the prem.

I'll eat my hat if we sign him, but a loan until January seems in everyone's interest.

Given Sunlan are 2-0 up at the Bridge they clearly don't need him. :)

No ifs. No buts. If Donny can afford David Healey's wages, there is no excuse if we can't afford Andy Reids's. If he is allowed to drift of a la De Laet, it would represent the hoisting of a massive white flag and will positively invite relegation.

We cannot afford to sign him but we must must must bring the lad in on loan until January or even May ...

Don't think we can bring him in on a long term loan if he's been on a short term loan already.

Probably have got it totally wrong but I got the impression from Reids body language that he thinks he's too big for us, (or the Championship) and should be in the Prem. When he went off at Leicester we gave him a standing ovation and were singing his name but he didn't even turn round and acknowledge us, then yesterday there was no celebration at all, he just trotted off without so much as a smile......................Billy Big Bollocks!

If we can keep him I will be not only over the moon but totally shocked................

All Reid is really showing is that far from being 'shit', we are one spark away from being a decent mid-table side. Whether we get this from Reid, one of our own players or from someone else brought in is pretty irrelevant. If we get a couple more wins before he goes back then the confidence should be flowing and points will be easier to come by anyway, and we can look forward to a nice spell of mid-table mediocrity...

If we go on a mad scoring spree while he's here and providing good service then i'll agree with you, but until then i think we are still sorely lacking up front.

Hmmmm... I've just watched the highlights from the Millwall game and I'm struggling to think of a player who seemed less excited when they scored a goal (other than players scoring against former clubs) and it gave me the same worries that you've expressed.

I could be, and I hope I am, wrong but I got exactly the same feeling that he will be off as soon as his loan is up.

You could look at the celebration in a positive way, too. He's just scored a big goal but there's still a long way to go in a very important game for us after being cheated on Wednesday night. He could be being very professional and making sure him and the team concentrate on the job in hand?

I hope he does stay but I'd be very surprised if we kept hold of him. I'd be amazed if a Premier League side don't make a bid in January.

I find it refreshing to see a player score a goal and not go into some stupid, carefully-rehearsed celebration routine.

That's how it used to be back in the old days...

I've just watched it again and he does speak to all the lads around him straight after scoring... I llike to be an optimist Daz so I'm going for your theory.

Can I just also say...as I'm only just watching the highlights that that was a great ball from Yeates to set him up, great vision.

We're a team who's confidence is rock bottom at the moment, so, i really wouldn't read too much into non-elaborate celebrations. It could be down to nerves.
I'm sure Andy Reid is very grateful of the chance to get some games under his belt with us. I'd be very shocked if he had a Billy Big Bollox attitude. I'd like to think he's up for the fight for as long as he's here.

Or it could be that he's just scored against one of his old clubs of which he hasn't faced since he left them all them years ago........

As long as he does his best in a Red and White Shirt, that's all I can ask for.

Reid is too good to be playing at the bottom end of this league. But there's nothing to read into his celebrations other than the fat lad ran out of puff. :)

I hope we can keep him till at least Jan - On his first appearance he came on and hit the bar with more or less his first touch, Setup Yeates on Weds and scored yesterday. Strange to have a Midfielder involved so much, When he signed he said GS was a big factor in the decision, I will be looking forward to who else Speed can bring in due to his high profile and hopefully he can actually do something with them unlike Nobson.

Since when did he play for Millwall?

I got the impression that after running half the length of the pitch he was just too knackered to celebrate.

Our lack of scoring strikers is concerning, but remember Swansea over the last two seasons? All passing and possession, and few goals?

It shows its not essential to score lots to achieve a decent level of success.

Maybe its the stage you go through when you are building that kind of side. Again, I think if we can keep the back four tight (they're slowly getting better) and get a little run going this side of Christmas we will be on 52 points before we know it...

If anyone has it recorded, please watch it again. He scores a wonderful goal then trots off emotionless. Then when he gets mobbed by his teamates he starts telling them somthing like "come on now lads we can do this"

No, but you have to have a good defence, and we've sold ours. And Swansea, as you rightly say, are all passing and possession, and United do not do either of these things well.

Reid's presence is a step in the right direction, but to get to where Swansea are without scoring goals we are 2 good defenders and at least 1 good midfielder short.

When you say sign him up are you meaning on loan to the end of the season or a permanent signing?

While I'd agree a loan in January till June would be great, we have exactly 0% chance of landing a permanent deal for him.
Good to see Sunderland do well with the kids yesterday though, although we have to hope they don't recall him to replace Zenden.

it's proved a point though.. many of us have been bleating for years that we never replaced lord brown.. we were going nowhere when brown arrived much as now, but then he kickstarted our upward progress.. Reid probably won't join us (i don't think sunderland want to sell him anyway) but we need this sort of player and have for eons.

I would imagine his permanent signing would be a bit beyond us in terms of salary and fee; but I could see us loaning him for the rest of the season. Speed will be desperate to keep him and might forego other possible signings just to secure him with the budget we have. I think its worth it as long as we can get Wardy, Hendo and Willo back soon. With Reidy added to that we should be able to make a decent fist of this season.
