I've just watched it again and he does speak to all the lads around him straight after scoring... I llike to be an optimist Daz so I'm going for your theory.

Can I just also say...as I'm only just watching the highlights that that was a great ball from Yeates to set him up, great vision.

Not just the vision, but also the urgency, quite possibly the management's instructions, the way Yeates immediately started running with the ball while Reid ran off the ball - before Millwall managed to get men behind the ball - is modern football at it's most effective. For too long we've not taken these opportunities to hit the opposition on the break, and while sometimes our midfielders have been applauded for slowing things down, before passing it sideways to a full back - I've been immensely frustrated. What do you think would have happened if Yeates had taken his time and found Lawton with a easy pass backwards?

It seems to me that Yeates has become more direct recently, and this gives me hope that the management wants us to up the tempo a bit and aim to get in behind teams more.

Is he in Sunderlands 25? Does that 25 get re-jigged in January to take account of the window?

I can see us getting him until January. I'm sure Sunderland would then assess his fitness and, if he's got his level back to it's maximum, they'll want him for the rest of the season. He's too good a player for them to let go without a substantial fee.

As for his lack of celebration, perhaps he just expects to score goals like that and it's no big deal (a la Jimmy Greaves).

Agree with that and I think it was against Ips or Cov that a few on here were having a go at Yeates for alwasy losing the ball. I think he's ben excellent and is our only player who tries and beats a man to create the space to launch a decent attack/cross. Obviously he has problems with distribution from tiome to time but I think his ability to beat a man is excellent at our level and the pass on Saturday was brilliant. If Evans has been told to not make the run and allow Reid to push on then he should be very good at that following that instruction because he cannot run and cannot get beyond a man.

What's this? Positivity creeping into this board.

Don't tell Mic and Len....

:)

To be fair to Mic his negativity is centred around a few specific areas. Namely Blackwell and McCabe on other topics he is almost a ray of sunshine.

Don't tell him how much my ticket was for Satdi then....

This is just getting ridiculous these cheap tickets - and a bloody flag day!!!

If you paid a proper price every now and again we might have half a chance of keeping for another month - hope you are proud!!

Reid has never really been one to show his emotions. So him not celebrating wasn't a surprise.

Good news! Let's hope brucey lets him stay until at least the end of december.

Skip to 1.35... You'd think if he was ever going to celebrate a bit more enthusiastically, it would have been then.

Excellent. I'd forgotten what a bad night Des Walker had.

Gives away free kick for our 1st. Stand like a statue as Kabba controls and puts in the second. Stood watching from a few yards away as Peski scores the third and tops it off by getting his name on the scoresheet.

Didn't Browny's free kick go off his arse as well?

I remember badly bruising my shins on the old wooden seats in the south stand, during the celebration for Kabba's goal. The whole stand surged forward from the back and my legs took the brunt of it. Good times :D

I ended up about 20 rows in front of where I should have actually been sat. Fantastic Times :)

I'd forgotten just how good the goals were we scored that night. Pesky's was fantastic and who remembers Kabba scoring like that! I couldn't get a ticket so watched it at home; spending about 2 hours pacing up and down unable to sit still. After the end I turned to my wife and said: "this is why we love football". Incredible game.

Remember that night well (and all the other great ones under Warnock) Not much long ball in that match, great passing and movement - bring back Warnock out with McCabe!

I hope we can keep him till at least Jan - On his first appearance he came on and hit the bar with more or less his first touch, Setup Yeates on Weds and scored yesterday. Strange to have a Midfielder involved so much, When he signed he said GS was a big factor in the decision, I will be looking forward to who else Speed can bring in due to his high profile and hopefully he can actually do something with them unlike Nobson.

Hope we get him for longer he's a class act. Just what we need.

It was the ultimate game. Ive never seen another one like it, at any level! It had absolutely everything except a sending off. Pure theatre!

Anyone who wasnt watching the game or hasnt seen a re-run of it since has missed out on one of the greatest games of all time. I rank it that highly. The emotion and drama was something else..........

great link bristol.. enjoyed that.. great start to the day.. it's funny.. at no point in that game did i think we'd lose.. my mates thought i was mad.. there was a young lad in front and he was really upset .. he'd not been to many games so i said to him 'look son, you're now supporting the most contrary set of bastards in the league.. they'll come back and win'.. then we scored our first goal.. his mom gave me a big hug after the game.. great times.. :D
on the subject of andy reid.. this is the player we have needed for five seasons.. ok.. he might not want to come but you have to make some kind of gesture Kev.. this means a lot to the fans.. it could be a historic signing for us.

Just relived the whole evening again.
What a night.
Football at its best under NW.
No long ball at all.
Game never to be forgotten.
Can still remember the excitement driving home early morning.

just seen the goal on bbc ,what a cracker
andy reid blades legend

I find it refreshing to see a player score a goal and not go into some stupid, carefully-rehearsed celebration routine.

That's how it used to be back in the old days...

Indeed. A firm handshake and then a communal wank in the big bath afterwards. Then ten pints of bitter and a drive home in the club car.

>"One goal doth not a legend make."
it really depends who you score it against.. :D just ask bobby davidson
