I have been assured by numerous posters on this forum that the reason we never spent much money was McCabe and yet the squabble over on the Brewster thread implies we still aren't offering the cash up. So that would mean the hugely unpopular truth is...

....the owners of the club, whoever they have been, have never had the money to compete with other clubs when we've been in the top division.

I think the harsh reality will soon hit many that we're not as good s we thought we were and will struggle to stay up.
it’s crazy this season as EVERY team except for Fulham, wba look decent in some way, yet we did not in our one outing. On the first couple games i feel relegated will be Fulham, WBA and then a mini league for 17th out of us Newcastle, WHU, Southampton, Crystal Palace, which we will win

The same McCabe who tried to block the funds to buy McBurnie? That McCabe?

Still think this. The words he eventually says are generally brilliant, but I've never heard an English bloke stutter, repeat himself and errrrrr so fucking much.

I wasn't going to say owt as I thought it was just me that thought this

Bert listened to him yesterday, it was as if his brain was on a go slow.

I'd rather the club lived within it's means, at whatever level, than threw money around like water based on having a rich owner. Because that means that a) there still we be a club; and b) we are far less likely to become the next basketcase, stuck in League 1. If that means we miss out on some transfers, that's fine

Current ones:

McG is not PL quality;
This has not been a fantastic transfer window;
We are a potential relegation side this season.

Previous ones I can remember:

Baxter is technically one of the best players we've had in years;
Pigs are a bigger club than us, but,
We are a big club (unpopular with some fans who like away days at Crewe etc).

Remember - this is the theme of the thread. I am not positing for any rows or anything!

The like is for the Baxter one. I was of the thought that this was a terrific signing. Very good player, excellent technically, a real prospect. One problem................

Brains of a fucking Rocking Horse

We don't have many intelligent footballers in the squad. Wayne Rooney is not an intelligent man but is an intelligent footballer, I dare say that some of ours are neither of those.

We need to get rid of Lys
He’s never going to be fit to last 90 mins
Has he ever played 90 mins for us?
Harsh but we can’t afford to carry him
My unpopular opinion in relation to this...In the 30 mins he can actually play, Lys looks more dangerous and causes opposition defences more problems than the rest of our strikers do over 90 mins. We should play him as often as we can and accept he is unlikely to ever play full matches on a consistent basis.

Well Steve, we're not all blessed with the ability to articulate our thoughts while under pressure. I'm not for sure.

Down the pub? No problem. TV camera stuck in my face? Been there, made myself sound like a right thicky. Maybe cut the guy some slack. He's a good manager - he doesn't have to be mega articulate.

I love him, it's just how it is, I'm not trying to be nasty. X

He needs a Peroni first before he speaks.
