Null and void it?! Could it happen!!!

Staying up by virtue of the season being voided would also probably hit us financially again. Would any prize and TV money be paid? Very doubtful.

The main thing that could save us would be crowds being allowed back in. I think we more than any other team thrive and get that extra 5% by fan involvement.

Null and void it now for me. Start it again when fans are back. I've had enough of this fake football now.
Ive have just switched off Liverpool and Arsenal , and that's not like me , but it was soulless , just like a training match , terrible , i think eveyone's getting fed up of watching football with out the fans , it worries me where this could all end if the virus really takes off which it looks like it's is doing ! Not just football but life !

I agree. This is a new dawn and I don't think it's going to get any better. The world is in self destruct mode.

Given our opening fixtures this could be bad news for us. I’m confident of us staying up given a full season but come Jan we could still be adrift. Apart from that, I’m with Wavy, I simply can’t get into these empty stadium games. Give me a replay of the 2018/19 season week by week and I’d enjoy it more

The season won't get that far.

They could vote to finish the season early say after 66% of games have been played or shall we say when United have played the top teams twice meaning the easy run in to the end isn't played. Be about right that end the season if we are in the bottom three.

It was sort of understandable last season that there weren't already protocols in place but it's a testament to the utter shambles that are footballing authorities that this vote wasn't held in the closed season when clubs could at least pretend to be a little it unbiased.

I vote for finish the season or null and void. And that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact I now know three of the results and that JOC is having a knee op, I swear.

You’re right.

First let me say, I’m not a conspiracy nut and don’t comment political stuff on here, but when Andy Burnham is on The Today programme arguing for a 9pm alcohol ban, because drunk people mingle, it’s definitely time to start worrying about future laws to ‘protect the people’. Everyday, more and more laws are coming.

The problem is, nobody is100% safe in whatever they do. What is the balance that a ‘free society’ takes. If we are waiting for a point at which nobody will be harmed at a mass sporting event, then that will never come. Did we cancel them after the Manchester bombing? Last year there where armed Police at Meadowhall, presumably to stop a terrorist attack blowing it up, but I still went in. If the Government released figures for known, suspected or foiled terrorist attacks for last year, I bet it would be frightening and nobody would have left the house.

I don’t need a law to stop me visiting my old mum, because she’s vulnerable and I’ve got brains, but we have one. Before the virus there were complaints about NHS overload due to weekend drinking, so we ban weekend drinking. Violent crime is committed mostly at night and during the weekends - so let’s have a curfew.

My next door neighbour’s dad died of it, so it’s very difficult to stand there and say let’s just get on with it, because someone will be affected by it. You can say Air Travel is safe, but if someone in your group says “my friend died in an aeroplane accident“ that’s the debate over.

This is a unique unheard of Global Pandemic, and I totally understand and agree we need to take precautions and we should not take this serious situation lightly or brush it off as not important and I’m not saying the virus isn’t dangerous or that we should not have guidelines and rules, but once a Government gets hold of powers, it’s going to be hard for them to relinquish them.

So it’s looking highly unlikely crowds will return anytime soon, and the longer it goes on, other things will change too.

I can’t see the premier league being cancelled. Teams further down the pyramid need the premier league to bail them out. I suspect a lot of premier league teams would be screwed too if there was zero income.

If for example all football was cancelled for 12 months I reckon 70 of the 92 top clubs would go to the wall.

I don’t think people realise the move is slowly heading towards a permanent ban on how we knew football to be.

In future hope I’m wrong but there could be
1: Permanent mask wearing,
2: ban on away fans
3: constant queuing for everything....staggered time slots to enter and leave the stadium.
4: Pubs within 2 mile of every ground made to close down 3 hours before and 3 hours after every match.
5: max capacity set at 33% of stadium capacity....so for us thats 10,700 max allowed in Bramall Lane
6: EXCESSIVE shouting will be banned leading to a stadium ban and a large fine.

I think PPG would be fair after game 19 has been played by all clubs. Before that would be ludicrous.

Still better for this to happen whilst we remain in the PL

As long as the players and staff are tested regularly as they now are and they remain negative, the season will carry on.

Well according to the article clubs have already agreed in principle to voiding the season entirely should it be between 2/3 - 3/4 of the way through if/when a second full lockdown occurs.

I just think there's too much variance in football for 19 games to be a fair prediction. A standard deviation either way could easily be the difference between relegation and safety. Norwich aside the relegated clubs would've been very different after 19 games last season.

Norwich, Watford & Villa would have been relegated.
