As a shout for the centre half what about Filip Benkovic from Leicester on loan? Not so sure that he's left footed, but 6.4 and has had a decent pedigree, could be worth a shout.

No way are we covered with Ampadu and Robinson.

It’s a good point, but maybe time that Berge learned to use his height in defensive duties. McBurnie contributes in the air especially at set pieces, when he can pick up opposition defenders. I accept height can be an issue, but I think we do have internal options without buying cover for JOC.

I have identified a few realistic options for us which could fill our JOC shaped hole:

Jake Clarke-Salter - Left footed Ball playing defender from Chelsea, shone at Brum last season, reported to be their best defender last year, i’d imagine he’s played a lot with Ampadu and maybe he’d be available on a similar perm deal with buy back akin to the hopeful Brewster deal?

Wesley Hoedt - Dutch Southampton CB- left footed and out of the picture at St. Mary’s, would be looking at a loan deal with option to buy. Lots of EPL experience playing 41 games for soton previously, labelled a flop although could be another wilder signing, an opportunity to turn it around?

Unfortunately feel the JOC injury timing was rotten, we missed a big opportunity with Ben Gibson imo, Would have slotted in well at LCB and is now on season loan from Burnley in the championship
