Forget the fees, maths and everything else give me a formation. Lay that formation out to me and explain why it’ll work.

Okay

---------------------------------Ramsdale----------------------------

Baldock--------------Basham--------------Ampadu-----------Bogle

-----------------------------------Berge-------------------------------

-------------Lowe----------------------------------Osborn-----------

----------------------------------Fleck--------------------------------

---------------------Burke-------------------Brewster---------------

I think a change of formation is needed. Might seem a bit daft, but having Fleck at one point of the diamond in a No10 role and Berge as the pivot/playmaker gives a dynamism to the midfield and more attacking options. Berge also has the ability to drop in between Bash and Amps to reinforce the central back pairing (he has the height, if not the apparent jumping ability) with this, it isn't too far from hat we have at the moment in defence but in attack, I think we need to repurpose Fleck into the supplier of the ball into the two strikers. Baldock and Bogle can advance as long as Berge stays rearward and create play down the flanks without pulling Burke or Brewster out of the box.

All we need now is a deck of cards.

A RB at LB. A LB at RCM.

Its out there Pommpey ill give you that!

Enda was great today and we miss Norwood switching play. I can’t give any merit to this formation. The whole team today played fantastic - unlucky is what happened today. The best people to take us forward already pick the team.

Imagine an alien with a machete running at grealish and lopping half of one of his legs off, and ref not giving a free kick. Awesome.

Stevens at LCB offers us the attacking outlet we need and Lowe is more than adequate at LWB

Berge is starting to come into his own I think he would do a fine job as an adanvced Midfielder/No10

Ampadu in DM provides cover and also even more freedom to drive out from deep.

We miss Norwood's passing/set plays but maybe he lacks a little in the drive that Lundstrum offers.

Brewster is in there solely because if he signs he plays

The rest is the old guard

Really do think we need that cover in DM but also we miss the No10 role that Duffy played, Id like to see us sacrifice a forward, I appreciate McGoldrick provides that link play but feel its time to switch it up

We look very leggy not mobile I found Leeds played like us last year fear less abd free flowing we are playing like championship team imo

I'll see your Norwood switching play and I'll raise you Berge running from deep.

Seriously, one decent run from Burke or McGoldrick would've allowed to Berge to grab an assist.

Not as out there as it looks.

Minus Brewster that's some clever thinking.

Yeah one thing we didnt miss today was Norwood switching play imo. He's been upgraded, it is what it is.

Well plying in that kit in the next game would certainly confuse Arsenal

play 2 deep midfielders which allows the WBs to bomb on at will. An attacking midfielder would support the forward and join up play.

Wilders first season,we were struggling early on and Wilder decided to change the system,he signed Ethan Ebanks-Landell,played 3 at the back, and we marched onwards to glory,by beating Gillingham away.
Are we about to see another system morphing/evolution.

Like to see us try something like this, we can still try and work our overloads with the dm joining the wide man and left or right forward, without the ball I think Berge and ampadu, or Norwood would give us decent protection, and all 3 comfy driving forward with the ball

Playing in Rotherham's kit would confuse the opposition as well, good plan.

It's evolution not revolution.
I think we've seen a few signs of how our play will change already. We'll still play a back 3 with attacking centre backs and wing backs. With Ampadu and Berge though we can drive at teams more directly and centrally. I also think Osborn and Lunny offers two box to box midfielders, their athleticism might give the centre mid more freedom to roam.
