Thanks to the club's links with BIFF, Blades fans are going to be given the opportunity to vote for next season's home shirt.

We've had a sneaky peak at the four designs tonight (hint: they're all red and white and made by Macron), but you won't have long to wait as a little exclusive dicky bird has informed us that voting will commence tomorrow.

And alongside the "official" channels to cast your vote via the OS and SMS, we'll also be running a vote on here which will be passed on to the club to include in their final tallies :)

The poll will be up as soon as we have the pictures... so watch this space.

Text A, B, C or D. Texts cost from £1 upwards, depending on which network can rob you the most.

Or vote for free via the poll we'll run ;)

I take it this seasons shirt hasn't been very popular then? Already got offers on them, that shirt amnesty thing and also already knocking the 3rd shirt out for less, plus you could buy the entire kit or £50 when I went in the Superstore the other week, and now they're already announcing next seasons home shirt?

I believe it's to ensure that the new shirts will be ready for the summer.

We're hardly Man Utd, it's not like we need to get a million shirts ready to sell, we'll be lucky to shift 5,000*. How long can it take to make that quantity of shirts?

*Although I'd be surprised if we've sold 2,000 this season

Macron are busy bunnies and United are wanting to ensure that the quality is what we expect before they go on sale.

Anyway, tha dunt have to vote if tha dunt want! :)

I'll vote, aslong as they're decent anyway, just seems a bit strange for the club to be doing it this early. Theres more important things for the club to worry about that what our shirt is going to look like next season.

Not a criticism of you Linz, just the club but they could start trying to communicate with the wider fanbase (i.e. those who listen to the radio or go on the official webite) about the core issues surrounding the club. Instead of talking to one or two fans or fans organisations about trying to raid the next £40.00 out of fans and doing a poll about NEXT season's shirt in November. I'm sure those season ticket renewal leaflets won't be far away.

I'll give them the best bit of advice if they want to sell the most shirts - drop tacky Macro and get a good shirt manufacturer although I don't think that will reap the best financial benefits, which i don't blame them for but i just wish they were honest about it and stopped pretending Macro is at the height of quality!!!

The whole club aren't focusing their efforts on new shirts :), but the ones who's job it is to do so obviously are. Personally I'd rather the fans be able to have some involvement in this one than not at all, however early or unimportant in the scheme of things it sounds right now. The new shirt issue is always one generates plenty of debate!

When you do the poll add option 5 - "changing the shirt every season is a rip off and just to prove the blades listen to fans we will not launch a new shirt if enough fans vote against a change"

Hopefully the rumour that there's an "Npower" logo on one of the sleeves is false!

If it's still the current squad next term then it should have a yellow stripe down the back and a "minus" sign on the front reflecting the goal difference and the style of play.

The keeper should retain the number one on his shirt and the rest should all have the number 2 since they never appear to get out of second gear. Perhaps one player, the one who waits upfield on his tod, has his own number on the back so the others can differentiate him as he gets isolated amongst the two or three opposition defenders who surround him whilst he gives them the ball back within a couple of secinds of receiving a long punt from a defender. Perhaps it should be his mobile number as that's as good a way of keeping in touch with the midfield as it is now.

Maybe we can have a brown smudge on the back of the shorts so it doesn't show up that much when they start cacking themsleves as they suddenly realise we are now two goals behind and we haven't ventured much out of our own half yet 80 minutes into the game.

Money grabbing, self serving, shite supplying, wasters.

Will the real Sheffield United please make your self known at some stage?

Fiddling while Rome is burning.

Anyway, let's have an option 5 like Swiss suggests.

If you would like to lodge a protest against the shirt changing, can I suggest that you:

a) do not vote in the poll but..

b) email [email protected] with your concerns. These will then be passed on with the results of the poll.

I can't help thinking what a sea change in fans attitude to the club this thread shows. Not one comment of positivity acros a wide spectrum of fans. We've been invited to choose kits in the past (Kit D) and I have to say the idea that's it's a new initiative all thanks to BIFF smacks a little of spin, however one swallow/summer etc and the effort on the Palace tickets is a thumbs up.

We are at a huge crossroads here. Looks like we're one shit JTW away from back being turned long term.

FFS guys, the club come out and try to give the fans input into something they moan about year on year and most of the posts in this thread moan about it.

If this is just the start of what the club are hoping to do by bringing fans opinions onboard then surely that is a good thing.

Those that have a problem with new kits every year, which I can understand, do they have any suggestion on how to raise the lost revenue elsewhere?
These can't include not paying certain players wages who are already contracted to the club and were signed based on managers decisions.

.

I don't see anyone moaning about the decision of the fans voting on which shirt they'd prefer.....

It's a good idea, just the timing of it is.... well a bit early shall we say? Say they release the shirts a month before the season - July, time to make the shirts another month, poll on which shirt fans want - 3 weeks, finalisation of the detail of the shirt another week. I'd say we only need to be voting around 3 months before the new season, not 9.

Yes, it doesn't hurt being prepared. But for me, this is way to early to be thinking about next seasons shirt.

It seems the club are trying to take fans' mind off what is going on on the pitch with this. Just my opinion of course.

Why do we have to have a new shirt every season, it's Ridiculous - gone are the days of having a shirt for at least 2 seasons. Too much fuss is always made over the shirt. As long as it is red and white stripes I'm sure it will be fine.

Maybe we could bring back the diamonds?

All I will say is that your timescales aren't very accurate Robbie!

I see no reasons as to why the timescales couldn't be adhered too, regardless of whether they are accurate or not.

Reminds me, if Gary Sinclair mentions MOM texting when we are losing again I am going to run on the pitch and his rip his head off.

Can you mention that please

It's definately already been mentioned :)

I've now got the imagery through, so it'll be live here and on the Official Site shortly.

I think it's great that the club are trying to get their act together and plan the new kit in good time so the quality and the timeliness of its availability are both as they should be.

I also think it's good that fans get an input.

Despite that, part of me can't help but feeling like a little of bit of excitement from next summer will be lost. I'm a bit like a 12 year old when it comes to the release of new kits and the fixture list :o

Having seen the kits I now think it's hastened the disappointment rather than ruined the excitement. Not massively keen on any and the diagonal thing is a monstrosity.

EDIT: On 2nd glance, kit c is OK although I don't think the angle they've used has helped.
