Really good point! I think there is a lot to be said about not knowing everything that is happening at the club/in the World.

Roygbiv touched upon something similar on this week's BladesPod and how, as no fans can currently attend games and are more likely to be watching the games alone, there's a constant barrage of opinions; with many of those being blow out of proportion.

We've always had arguments about football but it's worse now because people are letting off their steam online and not at the match. Lundstram makes a bad pass at the game and you shout "fucking hell Lundstram" and it ends there. In the current climate Lundstram makes a bad pass and someone writes on Twitter "Lundstram is wank" to which someone defends him and a huge argument develops.

In a pre social media world you got your news 24hrs or less after it happened and that was genuinely satisfactory - today, you're bombarded with screenshots, memes, rumours etc. And it puts us into a state of cognitive dissonance, grows and feeds a thirst for news as it happens turning all of us into amateur reporters looking to break news and makes us fatigued when nothing happens. It's bullshit. I'm continually disillusioned with the world as it is currently and lot of that is to do with the state of football too.

It was so much easier when you just picked up a copy of the Green 'Un on a Saturday night, and found out we'd signed someone.

I think we need to stop going after British players and look abroad. I get Brewster is highly rated but spending over 20 million on a youngster is too high risk.
I’m sure we could find some great strikers abroad for a fraction of that price.

Totally agree. Plus many people would go to the pub afterwards and have a moan with their mates. Now the only thing you can do is have a de-brief online and as you say, everything is then heightened.

For me I'll just feel a bit deflated if we inevitably miss out on him. I don't want us to throw money at a player or go down the villa/fulham route of paying over the odds for a player and risking a serious downfall if we were to be relegated. It just I want us to be a bit more ambitious. We know we need another striker, maybe two with Mousett being out.

I suppose the real worry for me is Wilder gets frustrated with the board and feels they are not backing or matching his ambitions and leaves.

This is just a post about nothing basically, just getting a bit frustrated with the lack of progress!

I remember when Kendall was first in charge and we signed a lot of players. There wasn't too much speculation. You woke up, put on Radio Sheffield for the sports news at twenty past (I think!) and found out we'd signed somebody else.

No fucking parasitic agents to deal with in those days. Clubs agreed a fee then the player sat down for talks with the club, perhaps with his dad in tow if he was a young un.

While on the face on it unrelated, I wonder if this is the sort of development that might see a return to the feasibility of a Brewster loan-only deal.

Consider what’s already been reported of Liverpool’s owners’ keenness to balance the books somewhat. They have a list of saleable options they’re willing to move on for the right price. They don’t need to sell all of them, but do need to sell 1 or 2. They won’t loan Brewster out while they’re yet to recoup the amount they’re looking for, instead keeping a Brewster sale on the cards. Burnley suddenly buy Wilson – Liverpool have the funds they’re looking for, and allow Brewster to join us on a straight loan.

They are offloading quite a few players.

Aren't Burnley completely potless, hence losing players like Hendrick at the end of last season and the speculation that Dyche would walk due to not being backed?

They’ve afforded to turn down 3 bids of £30+m for their centre half from WestSpam

No I think they just have an outdated boardroom that don't really know what they're doing (maybe a bit harsh). Overall find it nigh on impossible to tempt people to move to the town of Burnley.

Burnley are apparently being targeted by the US consortium that tried to buy us from McCabe.

The recruitment technology products base would have been interesting.

I'm not a mega fan of the whole stats based approach but it hasn't done Brentford and Brighton much harm over the last few years.
