That Pen

Not sure where Lundstram figures in the penalty taking stakes but quite rare to have so many takers missing. I think Norwood, Sharp, McGoldrick have been recognised takers, plus Osborn was excellent in the shoot out the other day and Berge also scored.

What's that make him? 5th or 6th choice taker.

I wonder why Berge didn't take it? He took a good one last week. I much prefer either Osborn's top bin effort or to see them low at the corners. Once you decide to kick it off the ground, it has to be high up otherwise just put it along the floor.

I can't think of many other obvious takers that were on the pitch at the time.

He must take them well in training, and had the confidence to step forward. Plus the management must have made the decision too.

In terms of other obvious takers, im always disappointed that a centre forward doesnt take them..in my eyes Burke should have grabbed the ball, whether hes new or not I much prefer a striker to show they are desperate to score a goal. Hey ho, it is what it is. Out of the players that were on the pitch the only one i wouldnt fancy taking one (and there's no evidence as to why, just a gut feeling) would be Baldock. Everyone else on the pitch at that time i would have fancied scoring

Thought exactly the same. I’m pretty sure Pope guessed the right way but it was so well struck by Berge that he didn’t really have a chance.

Not sure why Fleck didn't take it, but with no Norwood/Sharp/Didz on, who knows who is best after that

Have seen worse pens (even this weekend, the first Palace one that was retaken is ten times worse than Lunny's), but it wasn't good either

My issue is with Lundstram trotting around like he has seniority. In the same way Southampton took the armband off that player when he didn't want to commit, Lundstram should be told he's not in charge on the pitch, and to listen to his teammates.

For a start, he shouldn't be afforded opportunities to take penalties, that should be Berge if Sharp or Norwood aren't on.

I have no issue with him playing for us, but in my opinion, starting him is doing him a favour by putting him in the shop window (assuming his performances are alright), and doing us no favours because either January or Summer, we'll be missing a body who's potentially played the majority of games.

Let him see his contract out if he wants from the bench and in the cup, and come up with a three that we can build with.

For me next game should be Osborn, Norwood, Berge.
Could it be Wilder's intention to have him in "The Shop Window" by playing him perhaps.
He's a wily fox our Chris. 😉

I don’t think it’s the worst pen in the world tbf. I’ve seen Sharp take far worse.

Who else on the pitch at that point takes it? Berge maybe, his was the best against Burnley but he’s not exactly busting his balls to take it is he?
Anyone else for me. The one f##ker who is NOT 100% on board with us would be the last person to take a pen. He wants out so this miss aint going to affect him in his future. For every other player it could have huge consequences.

Billy Big Bo11ocks thinks he's something he isn't.

Whichever ST is on the pitch at the time. Why the fuck would Sander Berge be anywhere near the top of the list to take a penalty. Seen too many strange shouts of who should be taking the penalty. A ST is paid to score and therefore takes the penalties. It’s really not difficult. Why don’t we go all out and put Rammers on it? Clown.

Errrm so you’re didn’t see the Burnley shootout when Ben Osborn and Sander Berge took the best penalties of the lot?McBurnie was the only one that missed....guess where he plays.

Nice of you to call me a clown though. That really really proves your point. Actually.....you’re probably Birley Blade aren’t you?

I give rational opinions we've lost 5 games in a row and not scored a goal in a month of sundays

You tell players to fuck off

Well I haven't used those words but yes, yes he can.

His celebration last season against Bournemouth was a disgrace and the way hes held the club to ransom over his deal given he has been dog shit for us save for a 2 month period I think means I'm justified in my opinion.

But that apparantly is irrational while saying you can tell a lot about the league after 2 games is rational? Ok dude.

Ive tried not to bite to things on this thread, but you've got this spot on, so fair play. The thickness of some people astounds me! If JL was a bad egg, not trying, tossing it off, the players and management wouldnt accept it, we wouldnt have took the option of another year on him, he wouldnt be near first team training, he wouldnt be near the first team, he'd have gone or would be rotting away not doing much. The fact that he has started the first two games of the season to me say an awful lot about his character and commitment. He missed a penalty. So fucking what, anyone can miss them. It wasnt deliberate. It might not have been the best pen but ones that are saved arent, that's why they get saved!
