I know it looks like we have very little cash around, and could only bring in loans at the moment but with the way our current set of 'stars' am playing I was wondering who people thought could come in and make a difference? Obviously we can only loan people now, so will widen the debate to Jan as well if we do decide to spend any cash.

For me, Michael Tongue should be brought in this week. I know loads will not like this, but unlike my ginger friend Mr Quinn, he can at least pass 5 yards, and deliver a decent set piece.

Miller from West Brom is another one i think we could do with. Has pace, strong as an ox, and knows where the net is.

Thoughts?

We couldnt afford the elephant man 3 months ago,so thats not going to happen. As for miller, weve more chace of windy miller my friend

Willo and Henderson's returns could potentially be like two new signings. Only worry is, with being out for so long with bad injuries it could be too little too late. I know Henderson isn't everyone's cup of tea, but, for the love of God, he's got to be better than what we've got at the moment!!!!!!

Hope i'm wrong by the way.

The Fonz from rotherham worth a punt?

Went to Don Valley on Saturday as we got some free tickets, I wasn't overly impressed with his all round play but he took his goal from open play well. On a side note Nicky Law was very poor

I think a punt on Davies from Chessy might be worth it. I like fonz, but not sure if he'd make an impression in our league.

Get rid of Ched, get rid of Quinn, get rid of Nosworthy, and voila...you've covered LeFondre's transfer fee and wages.A million quid and the Millers would snatch your hand off.

Let's stop fannying around and make a bid.

I kind of get what you're syaing re Tongue but he's hardly pulled up any trees since leaving us, granted he'd give us a little more creativity but as per the majority of the squad he has very little power or pace - they're 2 key attributes missing from our squad at the moment.

I'd love to see Miller at the Lane but unless West Brom agree to paying most of his wages or McCabe has a change of heart about pumping some money into the playing staff, I don't see it happening

At the moment we're not even in the position to fund loan signings, Speed will have to work with what he's got.

I understand that Speed had several loans lined up over the past few weeks only for McCabe/Birch to pull the plug due to finance implications.

Better get ready for the long slog.

Wards is right. There will be no signings until January at the earliest and the likelihood is we wont get anyone significant in then (if anyone at all).

I'm not an ITK'er.....ive just watched United for a long time and I can read them like the most predictable of books. If we were going to fund any significant loan signings we would have by now as the squad is screaming for some quality. Reading between the lines it seems that we are looking, but any deals that could be done would have to be on our terms and on the cheap. This is probably why nothing is happpening.

The money isnt there for permanent signings unless we can pick up a freebie in January and that doesn't give us a great pool of talent to aim at. United wont even contemplate signing anyone until this Malaysian fella comes in and when he does its likely to be short term loans as it doesnt sound like he's going to be pumping multi-millions in.

What we've got now is what you have to pin your hopes I'm afraid. Long hard slog indeed :(

W've got plenty of players who can pass it sideways already, we don't need anymore.

This is the THIRD season of the slog (it's just taken some longer to see it happening than others).

January is not the time to put things right as the better players will be snapped up by the clubs looking to get promoted or stay in the prem (my mouth is watering at seeing the legion of strikers packing their bags for Loftus Road) so we can only hope to loan a couple of players who owe Speed a favour and will come and steady the ship for a few bob and a bottle of single malt.

I can't believe Alan Lee or Shefqi will hang their boots up before putting in a stint here, but I'd be monitoring Kevin Phillips if I were in charge.

A million!!! For a league two striker! If Jamie Ward was 300, the Le Fondre is 500 at the absolute top whack.

I'd offer them 200 and see what they say

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has been thinking this, he has been taking League 2 apart, did he and Wardy play together at Chessy?

I agree, but then I always thought Dougie Freedman and Jamie Scrowcroft would play for us eventually, too.

Get rid of Elpiton and The Maestro: Bring in Stock and Wellens. Things will look very much better very quickly.

If that's the case, you have to question why Speed's first three signings have been a goalie and two defenders when he himself said his most urgent target was a pacy attacking player. Did we really need Wright to sit on the bench when we could have managed with Aksalu and brought in another goalie only if we needed one? Did we need to spend most of our new wages kitty on a loanee right back (Calve) when we have home-grown Lowton learning his trade in ten minute bursts? Lots of managers have no money for new players and they have to wheel and deal to bring someone in. Evans must be one of our top earners and he's (quite rightly) not going to get a game. Loan him out and spend some of the wages we save on a pacy forward!

Got to agree.

I'd much rather us be blooding Lowton, Slew and James, perhaps even that Macfadzean(?) lad.

>whos injury prone and lacks pace? theyre usually 1st point of call.
umm then its nicky maynard of bristol city then.. scores goals for fun.. currently injured would fit right in.. le fondre would be worth a look.. as would woolford from scunny (attacking midfielder.. actually scores goals)..
eeh. stock and wellens.. that would be some midfield.. (if they could bring SoD with them i'd think i was in heaven)

While ever the squad size is what it is ( in the boards eyes big enough) then no players will come in Jan we have no cash.

It's all very well saying that we should get rid of certain players, but you have to consider that perhaps the current manager doesn't want to get rid, and that there has to be a club that will take them. If we were to send Evans out on loan, to pick one name out of the blue, then we'd probably have to pay some of his wages anyway, so it wouldn't really solve much at all.

Wouldn't want tongue back, i think he went at the right time. Seemed ever since brownie went he was never the same player, the lad just doesnt run at people like he used to when he was younger, no flair, and also a big thing for me is no pace. We have enough players who dont run at people without pace or flair in my eyes.

Miller i think we'd all hate miller. The lad had one good season at west brom and now since he's been injured he's been shite. I'd hate to have him at the lane, the guy has no brain just a waste of time, more like a shite version of marlon Harewood

Just fancy someone new and young who is playing in lower divisions
