If West Brom persist in playing Robinson up front on his own they will get less points than Norwich last season

I was merely just suggesting that potentially maybe we didn’t give him a fair crack of the whip playing him away at Manchester City away and games like that isn’t particularly a good chance for a striker to showcase his skills

He can’t be that shit as he is leading the line at WBA in a premier league team who has scored 2 away at Everton

And currently we do need strikers so it would be daft to ship him off to one of the 10 teams along with us who will be scrapping for survival

See David unsworth who assisted our first goal of The season Then scored the penalty for Wigan which sent us down 🤪🤪
Ok, what about the Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Everton, Sunderland, Watford, West Ham games where he did sweet sweet fuck all.

Good heavens - some of our fans need to move on.

Robinson was signed very early in the transfer window - McB and Moose were signed very near to the end and hadn't been through our rigorous pre-season, so were deemed not ready to play at the start of the season - that's why Robinson started. If every one had joined early on, then I doubt Robinson (and freeman as we know) probably weren't in the frame to play anyway - They were backup/squad players.

Robinson helped us to stay in the division, as did Freeman and in very similar ways that Stearman helped us to get out of the Championship.

After a few years at BDTBL, CW and AK seem quite ruthless in moving players on who aren't a proper fit for what ever reason - they get most right and some wrong and with players like Robinson, we tried to convert from a player who played on the left to one that was down the middle - it just didn't work out and he's been moved on in one season.

There will be more next summer too that probably go the same way - it's called "driving the club forward" which is one of CW's favourite quotes.

Wilder said recently he was brought in to be played wide of a 3 upfront but we had success playing with 2 upfront and 3 in midfield so he didn’t want to change it and hence Robinson was poor in the 2. If he’s playing up top for West Brom and on his own then he’s never going to shine.

No disrespect, and I may well be wrong here, but my understanding is that you're not a professional scout? And that really was one hecking big a problem, that he couldn't - nor can - do it against PL defenders. Was it the Prince who demanded that he'd be signed? Otherwise, it was very, very wank/awful business. Just as it was with L. Freeman.
Both players were bought with their potential in mind. They were successful In the Championship, where we could afford to buy.
Either we stayed up, and they made the grade, or they would give us a fighting chance going straight back up this season, if we were relegated.
The Jury is still out on Luke Freeman, who is still our player .....

Hes no worldbeater

But you can’t say he’s useless etc...

He made about 5 starts most of those away games like Man City

He also was nowhere near fully fit the start of last season

Don’t forget he was our best player by a mile last season In pre season

Not saying he would come in and score 10/15 goals but to let him go especially to our direct rival is a mistake when we have effectively 2 strikers who are good enough

He made 9 starts, most bog standard Prem fare and he did naff all in all but one.

Bournemouth
Palace
Leicester
Chelsea (good game)
Everton
Liverpool
Watford
West Ham
Man City

How are most of those like Man City away? Liverpool at home maybe. Everything else he should've had a good chance to show that he could affect a game and didn't.

No, you're not. I'd make the worst manager there is, or thereabouts. I presume that you think that it's okay for Wilder to break the bank and make two subsequent club record breaking signings, the ditch them just like that, and you still think that Wilder is absolutely the greatest ever man or manager ever having lived on this earth? And I assume it pisses you off if someone does as much as suggest that he may, just may sometimes make mistakes, too.

It doesnt piss me off that someone challenges Wilder, I do for the hoofing it up to McBurnie from the keeper when sometimes we can play it short as we usually give away posssesion when we do that, I also understand that sometimes we have to do that. I would have liked to see more of Luke Freeman and liked us to play with a No10 occasionally
One thing I do know Chris Wilder knows a hell of a lot more about football management than me, of course he makes mistakes all managers do, he also realises those mistakes and moves on
At the end of the day we had a cracking season and finished 9th (with a squad that included Robinson and Freeman) if not for lockdown we probably would have finished a couple of places higher. It will be a tough season ahead no doubt

I went to most of our preseasons last year and he looked like the buy of the summer. There was a lot of hype around him preseason because he looked genuinely decent in every game.

The problem was, he just couldn't do it against Premier League defenders. He was brushed off the ball to easy and looked weak (although of course, he was played out of position too).

I think of Wilder's best attributes is how quickly he changes things when it's not working out. I can see 100% why Robinson was originally bought, and I also see 100% why he was shipped out.

Nothing against the lad, his face just didn't fit.
Pretty much exactly my view of this lad. Thanks for saving me the time of writing it myself.

Seems like a decent lad but not able to do what we asked him to.

Wilder's transfer record is fantastic. All managers make mistakes but Wilder seems to be excellent at re recognising that it isn't really working and generally getting his money back. Lee Evens and Robinson being too good examples.

I could reel off 10/20 good wilder signings but I don't need to as 46 league places improvement in 4 seasons tells it's own story

If you are so much itk on all the particular points you make, I can't say but that I was wrong in some respects. But McB having been signed near to the end of the transfer window, well, he's s*ite. Moose, then, it seems that you itk woul've known, that he can't be arsed to play for the most part of the season. Was this known to CWAK?

The shockers for me are Ricky Holmes and James Wilson who a) was crap and b) a nobhead, but one of those was a loan so no damage really.

We've had other signings that haven't really worked, Lee Evans, Leonard, Robinson but they've all been identified quickly and we've made money on them.

And neither one could break it. That's very bad business, SUFC doens't seem to be in the league of the big teams giving so many prospects a go... It was good enough, in a sense, then in another sense one f*cking bad a transfer window. Why does Wilder say that this summer's window was better, though, if no mistakes (and mostly just mistakes) were made in the player recruitement the summer before this? Right, now you get it. Wilder is not stupid. He knows he/the club got it all wrong signing Robinson/Freeman/Mousset/McShite etc.

Ricky Holmes was a really odd one . I don't know what thatvist us, but the real shockers are few and far between under wilder.

Conner Sammon
Dean Hammond
Lee Hendry

I'll carry on if people don't agree with me 😉

McShite? How old are you? 12?

I think with Holmes we just became fixated on getting him even though by the time we did out situation had changed and he was no longer suitable.

Perhaps with the world's tiniest muscle flex.

I'm fine sounding infantile at times as every adult needs that. I'm not bothered about your comment, that is to say. "McB", "yo", is total waste of some 20 milloin quid. As was Robinson, and as was L. Freeman.

Didn't cost £20m for a start but sure, round it up why not.

We've got a better player and some money for Robinson and he won us some points anyway, as did Luke Freeman.

Lot of piss for a little bear 🐻

We've had other signings that haven't really worked, Lee Evans

I don’t get why everyone keeps bringing up Lee Evans as though he was shite. I thought he did a quality job filling in for Coutts, not many more could’ve done better at that point due to the fact Coutts was shit hot. He was fairly solid and scored a few screamers as well.

He wasn't shite by any means, but it just didn't really work out in the end.

Its got absolutely nothing what so ever to being ITK.

It's got everything to do with UNDERSTANDING United and LISTENING to CW interviews.

If YOU listened a little bit more to what OTHERS LISTEN to, then you may be posting a little different.

In relation to McB, he isn't shite, he does need to grow up a bit and if he did that and concentrated on his football a bit more then he may look a bit less shite in your eyes.

As for Moose - again from what CW has said in interviews - "he needs to feel the love" and apparently he suffers from IBS which can't help. He was another gamble by CW last season like Robinson - one that hasn't gone as well as can be expected, but he again contributed greatly before Xmas which went a long way to us believing this league wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Robinson contributed, Freeman contributed but both have been shipped out.

The moment we get better forwards I am sure you will get your wish and Moose will be moved on but McB is here for the duration - sounds like that's really going to grind your gears as it looks as though he'll be first choice if fit.

Watch out for the fires btw ;)

He wasn’t shit by any means but we basically got rid of him to get Norwood in, which was an absolute game changer

I agree about Wilder But I think you are harsh about Evens He wasn't a Coutts but we couldn't get one in then. He was solid but not creative therefore Wilder moved us on. But Evans never let us down and ironically his goal for Wigan against the Dirties was probably the best thing he did for us

Ah, those ol' good days, Our Chris could go on and break the bank & make Callum the record signing at the time, then having played him few times decides the guy didn't fit our system. I so wish we'd be in the same position yet again, spilling cash all over and recruiting some more record signings, give them few games to prove if they fit into our system, then discard them for players who haven't even made it to their respective Championship teams. Feeling so nostalgic about those days... Well, let the bygones be bygones. After all, this is a club seemingly being able to spill out millions on players we don't use nor need (Robinson, Freeman). We desperately need some record breaking signings that don't fit our system, don't we?
They were more likely insurance for if we went down. We're still probably paying less than championship teams. Don't think some realise how far behind we are after the 6 years in league 1. But we still managed to get a top half finish in the prem under those circumstances. Other clubs have spent nothing and gone back down, others have spent a fortune and likewise.

He seemed to have all attributes to be a cracking player. But apart from Man U flick for McBurnie. He played like a man busting for a shit.
