Now I’m only in a select few of the so-called “Facebook Blade” groups (purely because the majority of the people in there are thick as shit, but the absolutely uproar at McBurnie after he missed that penalty. Jesus Christ, some are going off like he shagged their dead dog.

I know he’s not the most clinical of strikers, but the majority on those pages think he’s Conor Sammon 2.0. There’s no point even trying to debate with them and try to tell them him positive attributes because they’re all that thick or don’t really have any real football knowledge.

Anyway, has Brewster signed yet?

The FB groups are the cesspit of debates. I didn't see the McBurnie penalty as it happened but judging from some of the comments on here at the time I thought he must have killed his granny during his run up. Turns out it wasn't a great penalty and the keeper saved it.

There’s your answer. He had two chances last night he should’ve put away. He then proceeded to run up to the penalty with no effort, no real power in the strike, and would you believe it he missed.

You can talk about how many ‘ariel duels’ he wins, but at then end of the day, no one’s ever there to pick up the scraps or feed off a flick on and make something of these chances. We also adapt to hoof ball whenever he’s on the pitch, which we can’t fucking play and never could. I’d honestly want him as far away from the first 11 as possible and nothing can change my opinion, he’s absolutely fucking useless.

He's actually a good player on the deck too. You can't really blame MCB when everyone else resorts to hoof just because a big lad is up top.

I saw one guy on Facebook the other day go on a massive rant about how almost all of our players are dogshit and that we're nailed on for relegation. I thought it was a windup, but no, he was just a complete moron! And very typical of these groups

Facebook and social media in general are the cesspit of mankind. I don't mind this forum because it is moderated very well (idiots and trouble causes are dealt with) and generally speaking people are usually quite reasonable on here. Even so, I usually read far more often than I post. But, Facebook, Twitter, Istagram etc etc I wouldn't touch with a barge pole. I mean, if I didn't want to be somebodies friend in real life 30 years ago, then why the hell would I want to be their "friend" now and share all my personal photos, family interactions etc etc. I would hate to be a teen now and have to deal with all the mental crap that social media encompasses. It's ok saying don't get involved, but I would imagine that this is easier said than done to a mid/late teen trying to find their place in society and navigate life in general.

Back in my day things were far simpler, and far better I would say. We got our wages and went on the piss Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We had our regular haunts and places where you knew the lads would be at whatever time. We didn't rely on mobile phones or whatever else - we just got on with actually living our lives. Quite simply, we actually got on with having a good time rather than trying to convince our on-line friends that we were having a good time.

macbernies a proper shit m8 and i dnt no y wilder wont drop him he has his faverites and hes only playin him cos the prince wont be happy if he spends that much money on a player and then dunt play him i reckon we should get che adam's in insted of that twat hed be r8 gd

Nobody on the end of his flick ons is his fault because..... ?
We play hoof ball when he comes on is his fault because....... ?
And then saying he ran up with no effort for the penalty....yes it was a poor penalty but even the best players miss penalties.
All the best strikers miss chances as well

Apart from that, good post

I'm a member of a few of them and probably muted them all now because all the notable correspondents on there, seem to revel with every defeat and use it to shout the loudest and get the most attention.

I'm glad I've become a contributor to this website, as it allows sensible mature debate, and weeds out most of the dickheads.

Surely FB can’t be worse than the rabid, negative, demoralising effluent that appears on here during and after games like the one against wolves on Monday?

Just a shame he misses every chance he gets. You keep telling yourself all the best strikers miss chances as an excuse for when he doesn’t put away a sitter (like the 2 last night). Couldn’t hit a barn door that sorry excuse of a striker, if he can’t score a penalty from 12 yards he’s got no chance. 1 goal we’ve scored in 4PL fixtures. Keep playing McBurnie and the longball that follows and it’ll still be 1 goal after 10 PL fixtures.

He doesn’t miss every chance he gets. I’ve seen him score some good goals ... for us.

Easy way to put this to bed is to get McBurnie david McGoldricks PR man because last season nobody missed as many chances as him and nobody slates him ??? yeah i know 2 different players 2 different roles but come on its like a witch hunt on some of the facebook groups !

No good coming on here with your sensible post's there are a significant number on here who are just the same, even their hero Billy misses a penalty now and then.

I think its because he is young, listens to Rap music and has a flashy social media appearance. Alot of the gammon/idiot (or "anti-snowflake" as some of them prefer to call themselves) elements of our fan-base don't like these sorts of lads. And would prefer a team of 11 Neil Collins. 🤷‍♂️

Remember VIP Blades. Lasted about an hour before I had to leave. Do remember Ricky getting abuse from the guy who shit on Wednesday's pitch for his singing section. Even Gary Sinclair got involved and ridiculed him.

Blades Facebook groups. There's your answer.

Keyboard warriors.

I've seen two people this week calling people cunts who would absolutely shit themselves if confronted in real life by those they're calling.

I think that's just Facebook in general pal. Shut mine down a good while ago. It's like lopping off an infected toe.

Your last paragraph and in particular last sentence is spot on, it does seem that people spend more effort now trying to show what an amazing life they are having rather than just enjoying themselves without filming it all and updating all their shitty social media. I'm mid thirties so was lucky enough to grow up without a phone and facebook and when we went out/ go out now, we actually talked to each other for more than 2 mins without being drawn to a phone screen...it drives me mad, if I'm with someone and they are constantly checking their phone.

FB groups for anything attract the worst types but football ones are up there. Imagine London Road at kicking out time after an early Saturday kick-off. We've either won or lost to Wednesday 5:0. There is no inbetween reaction. There are no grey areas or reasonable debates there are just tribes of people who would beat their opinion into you, if they could.

The clue is in the platform, Facebook. It truly is a cesspit of absolute fucking morons. I do my utmost to steer well clear of it these days.

To be fair, if any current or past player was found to be making the beast with two backs with an expired canine, my money would be on Oliver. Ketamine would be involved as well.

The foaming of the mouth from VIP Blades is something to behold. You have to be Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie or you're an ugly fat cunt if your opinion differs.. They troll your photos, job and life..

I knew I was a loser.... They didnt have to be so accurate.. :p

Similar things are said on here, to a lesser degree.

Social media gives the mentally weak, bullied at school types a voice they can’t use in the real world.

Whenever I've venture into the rabbit hole that is Facebook I quickly realized why I'm not on it and never will be.
There's so many illiterate morons posting complete shite on there, people who cannot use basic English and who's spelling and misuse of basic words just beggars belief!
