Robinson tackle

For me, yes seemingly no intent but (bear with me here) what if there was intent and getting the ball first was Brucey bonus? Than can neither be proved or disproved of course.

My call would have been a Red I'm afraid.
And that's why neither of us are Referee's 😉

It’s never a red card. There’s nowhere near enough time to move his leg after he’s cleared the ball. The Burnley player is unfortunate to be in that exact position that he is because Robinson’s swinging leg hits him. No red card. No malice. However. If VAR was in play he would’ve gone, because the standard of officiating in the country is bollocks and the game is now soft as fuck.

It was rash and the whole wind-up before trying to kick the ball as hard as possible is a bit odd, but I think it was more wild than any intent behind it. He may well have walked with VAR though. He basically booted the ball and then booted the man. The whole action was pretty odd.

That's rubbish, he played the ball which is his right, and the follow through caught their player, it was high but i couldn't see how he could have controlled his leg on a follow through within a legitimate tackle, it's always going to be a difficult decision when these happen, some will get a yellow for the "high leg" some will get sent off for a rash tackle, it's football.

Exactly this.

You think Robinson is capable of that ? He wouldn't be a pro at Prem level if that was intentional. He'd be a criminal.

I wonder how many here actually watched the game, in full high definition - I did, just saying

Probably an unpopular view here but if you don’t think Jack Robinson knew exactly what he was doing in that tackle you’re either being wilfully ignorant or you’ve never played football before, IMO. Deserved a red for how high he connected on his leg. If that had been on our player and he then had to be stretchered off we’d be fuming.

I dont think it should be a red BUT with todays rules it is, intentional or not. If there was VAR no doubt in my mind hes taking an early shower. Rightly or wrongly these days you cannot leave your feet or your putting yourself at risk of a red. I think Dyche was spot on with what he said about it to be honest.

If the shoe was on the other foot wed all be up in arms. Its a sad state of affairs this is even up for debate, football is supposed to be a contact sport but these days thats getting eroded season by season.

Doesn’t matter if he got the ball - it’s reckless and endangering an opponent. Red card. Don’t think there was any intention to hurt the lad, but that’s irrelevant too.
If that tackle was made on Berge, we’d be screaming for a red card.

I'm not qualified to comment on whether he meant it or not, only he is. Maybe they don't like each other?

He was reckless and out of control. Straight red under the current rules. He put an opposition player in harms way through employing reckless force
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Some right pussies about now.

You're embarrassing yourself here. Rules of the game aren't based on people being hard or not. Robinson kicked the ball and followed through to leave a mark on the player. Anyone who knows football will know that. I'm certain he didn't mean to injure him and I highly doubt he meant to hit him that high on the leg. Fact is, he did. VAR would give that a red.

If Robinson was playing for Burnley and that tackle had injured one of our players, there would be multiple threads on this forum calling him a dirty c**t and demanding the death penalty (not McBurnie).

Fuck it. Lets kick every fucker up in the air like it's 1992 and end up with 8 players on the pitch every game.

If somebody did that to somebody you were playing with in a Sunday League game I'm sure you'd calmly accept it as part of the game

Inappropriate content, infraction given.

what a load of bollocks. If he hadn’t of been such a nesh pussy, he wouldn’t have got hurt at all. Serves the prick right.

Try kicking a football a keeping your foot low to the ground on the follow through. You’ll find that it’s extremely difficult/impossible. He connected with the players leg because the player neshed the tackle and turned his back instead.

I can’t even see why this is a conversation. If their player had come away unharmed everyone would have forgotten about it by now and he only got hurt because he didn’t go into the tackle properly. If a Burnley player had received a red card for that tackle Sean Dyche would be up in arms about how soft the game has become.

Spot on. Dyche is one of the biggest hypocrites in the premier league

You have a point about strong tackles being part of the game, but don't call the kid a prick for getting injured in a tackle, it didn't serve him right.

Unintentional in my opinion, but it would have looked horrendous to the VAR panel in slow motion.

Chances are he would have gone.

Let’s hope the kid never has to play Sunday morning football, hey? I’ve seen braver 6 year old girls.

It all depends on how the ref determines the challenge:
  • Careless is when a player shows a lack of attention or consideration when making a challenge or acts without precaution. No disciplinary sanction is needed

  • Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned

  • Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off.
Was it using excessive force? Did Robinson need to fly in? That is the question to ask.

Whether he intended to or not is irrelevant. It was a reckless, high challenge that most refs would give a red for and understandably so. Winning the ball doesn’t matter at all with reckless tackles like that.
