I am now getting worried, very worried. Lets not kid ourselves, if we hadnt had got a very fortunate first goal (although Boggy took it very well) when we did yesterday, it could have easily been another Scunthorpe scoreline.

Their first goal highlighted one of the things i have been banging on about ever since Speed took charge.......... we are not creating the "percentage" chances - therefore we cant score the "percentage" goals. Goals that are possibly worth 7 or 8 extra points per season.

When we get a throw in within 10 yards or so of the oppositions corner flag, not only do we very very rarely get a cross in, but also look uncomfortable and invariably lose the ball straight away. This is nothing to do with the style of play, but just a very basic thing. Get a feckin cross into the box from dead ball situations and who knows, you might just get lucky! Just before Burnley scored their first yesterday, we had 3 throws in well into their half and didnt get a cross in. They then get a similar thrown in....bang the ball into the middle.... and hey presto 0-1 and we are chasing the game.

Feck me, another 'sky is falling' know-nowt. I'd suggest that its not a question of him not learning fast enough, but that he doesn't have a load of options without bringing in new faces. He is trying to play decent football with what he has. Still only 9 games played under Speed.

A month ago we would have lost yesterday by 3 or 4, but we didn't. We came back from 0-2 and 2-3. Enjoy the goals and the point. I'm sure our dressing room was a lot happier than the visitors. We have yet to see how we get on over the next 10 games, but results like that turn corners...

nope, Speed is the man - i am a mere punter who sits on the kop and watches objectively (well as objective fan can be lol). You dont have to be a football manager to see that Ched is shite or to know that if the ball doesnt get delivered into the danger area often enough, you dont score often enough!

Don't think Casper was applying to be the next manager but don't see why he cannot make a simple observation without you two jumping down his throat. Fair enough the title of the thread is a little provocative but the sense of the observation is absolutely valid. Most goals are scroed from crosses into the box. Speed himslef has stated that he is trying to imrpve the delivery in those areas. Casper made a good observation so lay off.

Speed will get this right I am sure. He is working with a limited set of capabilities in the squad he has.
He is an attacking midfielder (like Lawrence at Pompey) and a pacey forward - we should give the academy lads a run like Watford, Ipshize etc do - away from more goals. However, we are still making too many rickets at the back.

Like others, I think Willo would make a big difference but I fear he may never come back from the injury he has.
It's similar to the one that forced Agana to quit the game and I know from experience (two ruptured disks at the base of the spine from a football injury 20 years ago) that it completely screws up your game - not that I was ever at the standard of Willo or Agana, though.

You see, this is what i dont get. Just because somebody highlights an obvious weakness in our approach at the moment they are a know nowt who thinks the sky is falling in. Well acutally lol, you are partly right - the sky is falling in. We have had our expectations lowered to such an extent that a lucky draw with Burnley at home is actually seen as a good result!!

I am neither a clapper, or knocker - and i am still with Speed. I just think there are some aspects to our game that could quickly be improved. Scoring our fair share of 'percentage' goals may well be the difference between stopping up \ going down.

Well thank you my friend and i completely agree with you. I was screaming for Slew to be given a run towards the end of the game. You know, summat just a bit different. Speed obviously knows far better than i do though, and in time i think will turn us around. Bit bloody worried just at the minute though!!
