CONFIRMED Rhian Brewster

Just to be absolutely clear:
I don't know anyone whomsoever associated with Sheffield United Football Club
I don't know anyone who follows one of our immediate (PL) rivals for Brewster's signature
I don't know / associate with any Scousers (thankfully)
I never have (& never will) read, let alone believed anything that is in any way published, linked, associated with intimated by alluded to by the Murdoch press (sic)
I am wholly incompetent in all aspects of 'social media' & pay fuck all attention to arsebook, twatter or thicktoc

I can tell you's:-
We may or may not sign Brewster
It may or may not be a permanent transaction (with or without a 'buy back' clause)
He may be shite or outstanding ( or somewhere between) if /when he wears a Sheffield United jersey
If / when it is apparent that said association football player does not intend / is prevented from donning said Sheffield United jersey (in any form of competitive fixture) employees engaged by said Football Club to recruit appropriate / necessary personnel will seek to secure an alternative Association Football player whom, in their considerable experience, will meet the needs / requirements they themselves have identified and that will benefit Sheffield United Football Club - (nigh on) universally recognised as being a goal scoring 'forward'

Sheffield United Football Club are scheduled to embark upon a second (consecutive) season competing in the 'Premier League' in approximately 2 hours (without engaging the services of someone to fully occupy the above described / documented 'vacancy')

Sorted ( for now) ?

I disagree with all of that.

I don’t really get the annoyance at a potential loan rather than permanent deal for Brewster – it sort of screams of some scrambling around for something to moan about after a week of good news.

As for planning ahead of next summer, the EFL deferred payment they received means that a lot of Championship sides will be faced with the reality of having to sell top talent. I suspect we’d be looking to pick up some excellent deals in that window, and we’ll at that stage also be in a better place to judge what we need based on how the rest of the strikers have done in the first half of the season.
Happy to take this one if I've not been clear already.
I do not believe Brewster is good enough right now to come straight into the starting 11, unless there a significant injuries or loss of form, and I think when he does he's going to take a fair time to settle, as did McB.
He certainly hasn't shown over a consistent period that he's a Premier league striker but what he has is huge amounts of potential.

So if we loan him, we're likely to get maybe 3-4 months out of him playing at the level required, after which point he goes back to Liverpool.
If we buy him this season is vital development time because we'll get the benefit next year when he's really pushing to hold down a first team place and is only going to get better.

I just don't believe we should be using our loans to improve players for the big clubs to use or sell, we want to be getting the benefit ourselves, even if that means they have an option to buy them back. At least with that scenario we make money for our efforts.

Had all summer to identity these players.

And Brewster has probably been identified weeks and weeks ago. But maybe... just maybe.... the shortened summer and the fact that Liverpool didn't want to do business yet has had an effect. There are over 10 clubs after Brewster; should they all have done business earlier?

Or is it an imaginary stick to beat the club with. Something that you clearly adore doing.

Where did I mention about Brewster i know his situation with Liverpool.

So we don't want loans. We don't want to spend good money on highly rated youngsters from big clubs. We don't want untested foreigners who haven't played in England. We can't afford the proven article, certainly not in wages anyway.

I know this isn't the view from the majority by a long shot BTW. However, after reading these threads without much input I'm beginning to wonder who some of our fans think we should or can sign.

Sorry, my mistake. Not like we're in the Rhian Brewster thread.

Regardless, I wonder how many of the clubs in this division are still doing business. Can't believe they've not concluded every signing by now.

Last I checked we'd spent around 30million before a ball has been kicked. We've signed 5 players; one of the highest numbers in the EPL.

Meanwhile, strikers are always difficult to get in the door.

If we were to loan a striker, I’d rather it be a striker from abroad. At least then we aren’t developing a player to go back and put in an amazing performance against us the following season. Hoping we manage to pull this off on a permanent deal though.

That’s certainly a better reasoned position than most that are kicking up a fuss. I just think we’ve seen the benefits directly in recent seasons of loaning players to develop. Our point of disagreement is probably over Brewster’s readiness – I think he would potentially require less time to settle than McBurnie, who I think by his own admission wasn’t at the same fitness levels as the rest of the squad when he arrived which impacted on his first half of the season.

Yes? He was great for us. There’s no disputing that. Luckily we managed to find a keeper that could be just as good. Finding a striker that can score prolifically in the PL is much more difficult

The only option is to sign a forum member to be our next striker. Get your boots and kit on Davalon :D

I think IF we sign Brewster he will start scoring goals early and relatively regularly. Call me an optimist! I rate him very highly and think he'll fit brilliantly in our two striker system.

Some of you are phenomenally negative about the club and the transfer planning.... Which is FUCKING BIZARRE after the last 4 years! 😂😂😂
Especially considering some of your negativity is based on tabloid and twitter rumours.

Cliche alert: In Wilder and Knill (and Bettis etc) we trust!

If we're still in the PL at that stage, then I'm quite comfortable with us having to search again.
