OK VERY early days I know but got to be candidates for the big R - teams we have to beat.
Felt for them a bit (cause we've been there :( ) but got to be a few points for us. You could see the confidence visibly draining as the games went on

I know they say “never judge a team on 1 game”

but I’ve been shocked at just how poor Fulham and West Brom have been in their first match.
Both clubs look miles away from PL standard, not even any fight.
The body language from both the Fulham and WBA players is as though they already know they will be relegated.

Looks certain that those 2 will be down with 1 club to join them.....probably West Ham.

Blades Analytical on the Blades Pod the other week mentioned Fulham played at such a slow pace to retain possession in the Championship they'd likely struggle in the PL.

Funnily enough I think out.of all the sides who could have been promoted Brentford would have been the best equipped to survive if they had kept hold of Watkins et al and added a centre half

Still a few weeks left of the transfer window though so lets not get carried away

WBA looked like they were playing for a draw and didn’t have a Plan B. That’s a terrible game plan unless you have at two quick, accurate strikers who take their chances.

I looked at the Fulham style of play last season and against Arsenal and it’s all slow keep possession tippy tappy build up play.
In the Championship they had technically superior players....so they controlled possession and would gradually wear down the opposition.

However in the PL they don’t have technically superior players so their tried and trusted “dominate possession” tactics fall down.
They don’t have a good defence, lack physicality and also lack pace...so can’t even counter attack.

They are like a poor man’s Arsenal....play some pretty stuff...nice build up play....but totally ineffective.
I think Scott Parker is a really poor manager....Fulham had the best individual players last season....and he still only just scraped promotion.

Long way to go
Fulham were beaten by a very good Arsenal side but did look poor
Didnt see much of the WBA game but the bit I did see they didnt look good either
Think they will both struggle but its way too early to write them both off

I think they’ve all been unlucky with who they were playing. Our first game against a poor Bournemouth was a good introduction for us. Maybe Leeds could say they weren’t expected to do anything against Liverpool.

Fans....we will miss them terribly!

Hoping we’ve added enough quality by the end of the window to be a level above where we were last season.
Hoping for better possession at least!

Worth remembering that the promoted clubs have had very little time to prepare this year too. Especially Fulham.

Don't know why this is in Blades General Chat, nothing to do with us. We won't be in a relegation scrap. :)
