Agree... Brighton fans were getting excited.they think he’s going there....but they’ve now heard that he could be coming here instead.

Its weird how things change....I’ve always known Brighton to be a little club on the south coast..
bigger than Bournmouth but smaller than both Southampton and Portsmouth.

On the Brighton forum...most of their fans are saying stuff like “surely a player would choose Brighton over Sheff Utd...he could be in a relegation battle if he goes there” and “we play better football than them...Klopp wants his man to develop so he’ll prefer Brighton over Sheff U”
and ‘Klopp is a big admirer of Graham Potter.. no doubt he’ll want his man to come to Brighton to play proper football”
and “I’ll be really surprised and angry if a young player with such massive potential chooses Sheff U over us”
Roygbiv has competition

IIRC they were weirdly up their own arse last season too. Its like they immediately forget where they finish in the league.

The mighty Brighton? They who spent a decade getting average crowds of 2000? Divs trying to rewrite history 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Been cut from 3/1 to 6/4 in the last few hours on sky bet.

I had fifty at 5/1 And a text gave me confidence to have another bet.

Must admit to not being bothered which we get be it Dennis or Brewster but we do need someone of that “type” to complete the jigsaw and take us to the next level and I do not doubt that the money is there.

Bizarre. Shit league placings, their best premier league goal tally is the same as ours was last season. But they talk like theyre on another level to us.

Well, if someone asked me to name a team that plays proper football, that isn't fighting a relegation battle and is managed by a well respected manager, the first one into my head is obviously Brighton...

Also theyll have Lallana wheelchairing around the midfield this season too. Theres magic at the Amex.

Anyway, Brewster, hope we get him.

Brighton fans see Graham Potter in a way that nobody in the world does. They were talking about him being the obvious choice for the next England manager a few days ago

Liverpool have apparently said no loan for him, they need money for Thiago.
Kin ell! If I was a Liverpool fan I'd definitely be asking, "Where's t' money gone?". How many seasons have they been continually in the Prem? And they won it last year. But they can't find £25 m to buy Thiago and have to wait until they've sold off one of their young players who spent last season on loan in the Championship? 😳

Does anyone believe this horse-shit?

Your perception of them is similar to mine. They were a perennial lower league team when I was growing up, apart from a colourful period when they won summat, (or came close to it?). I'm thinking of a Cup game when they beat another Sheffield club with a rasping Jimmy Case volley - and they had a manager who looked like Coco The Clown, called Jimmy Melia, who was running around on the pitch like he was auditioning for the next tour with Chipperfield's circus.

Strange how fans can have a distorted perception of their own reality. I suppose all fans have it to some extent, because the club becomes the family and the family are part of the tribe. But I think if you compare the history and achievements of the two clubs then there's no comparison which is the bigger and more successful club. And as regards the football they play...I didn't hear many pundits raving about them in the Prem last season and they've got to be amongst the relegation favourites this time around.

That’s what I find a bit strange as well, you would think Liverpool could easily afford to buy a few new players and spend say £100m this window.

There was a stat during their match yesterday and they haven’t actually spent a huge amount under Klopp. According to the link below his net spend is only £72.35m!

Someone posted in this or another thread a link to an explanation as to why Liverpool struggle with funds. Its a mixture of stuff if I interpreted it right:

They dont get subsidised by their owner like City

They don't produce or sell enough academy players on for profit like Chelsea

They dont make enough revenue from selling merch like Man United

They have gone from being a mid table team to World, European and England champions in six years and their wages have gone up loads with all the bonuses.

Virgil is on 315k a week or something. And they dont have the cash flow because of the above points to have excess funds to buy new players.

He's like some kind of hybrid of John Harris and Billy McEwan then! 😳

I didn't realise that. It's actually quite encouraging I think, because it just shows you can build an effective team without spending vast millions on it.

I thought their style of play was interesting last season. Solid at the back, first and foremost, but move the ball quickly, especially to their rapid forwards and not afraid to play it long to do so. It's interesting to compare that to say...Man City. Who focus more on passing and keeping possession in their build up.

To me, last season, what we lacked was the ability to change it up a bit and inject some pace into the team. If our transfer dealings this window have resolved that, providing we can remain as frugal at the back as we have been, we should be in for an interesting season.

I'm starting to feel sorry for them now! 🤔

Nixon in this mornings rag apart from stating that apart from ourselves, Villa and Palace are interested, goes on to say:

Quote "Chris Wilder's Sheff ield United have been after Brewster for some time and also had preliminary talks with the youngsters camp last week. The Blades are also happy to buy after originally looking at a loan deal"

I have a feeling deal agreement done, maybe us losing a player on loan or perm, or Liverpool bringing one in before deal can be done? Any transfer has other things to happen first before can be completed these days, also we dont just chuck silly money around (villa) to clubs n players so that can delay any transfer few days/weeks
Fingers crossed its brewster.

From the little that I saw of Brighton last year, the style of footbal was reminiscent of Norway in the 90's. By that I mean they had a big lad playing at left back who they tried to hit with the long ball. The forwards would then try and pick up the knock downs. Effective it may be (at times) but hardly attractive and hardly innovative.

Obviously I don't know what the transfer budget is that CWAK have to work with this window, but after hearing about what we have paid so far in this window in fees (up front), then ld like to think there is enough left in the kitty to make one big final splurge of Ron Jeremy money shot proportions, in this window.

Not withstanding the fact that we have probably already bought Sander Berge out of the monies fund aside for this TW (offset against the fact that we surely brought in more money than we originally budgeted for by finishing 9th last season), then I have this TW's outgoing fees as:

Monies out.
£10.5m - Rammers (rest of fee up to £18m dependent on his Individiual Performances Targets being met).
Free - Foderingham.
£7m - Lowe and Bogle (with extra 5m IPT's).
Loan - Ampadou (probably a loan fee paid).

Monies in
£3m - Burke (fee recd from Robbo swap).
Loan fee from Forest for Freeman.

Total transfer outgoings - £14.5m.

If say CWAK were given a budget of say £30-35m this summer, that should still leave us a a budget of around £20m for the final piece of the jigsaw?

If those figures are right and they have been reported as being so recently, then CW, Bettis, and Shieber really have been clever in the TW. As CW mentions, he feels we have really maximised the budget available.

Surely there's a enough of the budget still remaining to potentially buy Brewster for around £20m of we can strike a deal and meet personal wages?
