Had a horrible thought. What if Leeds, playing Liverpool this weekend, gazump us to the Brewster. Klopp has joined the many top managers heaping praise on Bielsabub. Hope Leeds get battered and the managers have a fight.

If we do manage to sign Rhian Brewster on loan, who would you play him with up front?
If the answer isn't McGoldrick then I struggle to see how we're going to provide the chances he needs to be effective.

He makes a lot of chances and goals himself - he's no tap in merchant

Boadu will be some player, he’s got Raiola as his agent though. Out if our reach already I’d have thought?

Is it ok to answer Oli Burke to that one (with McGoldrick in the 10 role) ? 🤔

I'm not sure it will be Brewster.
CW sounded as though it was a done deal. But Klopp is kind of saying him moving out depends on lots of other stuff.
Would CW be saying that if Klopp wasn't sure he could leave?

How would that be any different from our existing options?
McBurnie is going to start for us, I think that’s clear, so it’s who plays with him and I believe that will be Moose, McGoldrick and Brewster with the other two options from the bench.
To start with I think Brewster will be just that an option coming on anyway, and I personally hope Moose has come back in shape to start for 70 mins, if not I guess it’ll be Dids.

Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, has a certain ring to it while having all the core elements to be a seriously potent strikeforce. If Moose isn’t up to it then Rhian has his in, but he’ll have to earn it, and of course King and McBurnie would turn that strikeforce immediately up to 11.

It’s basic managements speak.....honesty can backfire and cause all kinds of problems.

Lets say Klopp has agreed to let Brewster come to us on loan but wants to make sure there’s no injuries to their strikers.
Also imagine if the truth is that Klopp doesn’t rate him and they need money to buy another one of their targets.
So they’ve agreed to sell him to us but are negotiating a buy back deal....making it effectively a long term 3 year loan.

There might be a 90% chance the deal is happening but if Klopp reveals it now.
There could be unrest and criticism amongst their fans unsettling the vibe amongst the players.
and if for some reason it didn’t happen....then everyone knows that Klopp doesn’t rate Brewster and would prefer him to leave.

Hence the best managers manage the situation by telling white lies...and downplaying any potential transfer activity.
Notice how Klopp isn’t saying that Brewster is definitely staying.....he’s being vague as though he’s unsure.

This is a good point! Say they're going after Thiago at Bayern, if Klopp lets on he's sold Brewster then Bayern know he probably has £20m to play with so can play hardball with the fee. Also, what benefit does anyone get by letting journo's at a press conference know about transfer business

Its definitely looks like Liverpool are short of cash and Klopp wants to make a signing. Hes got 3 of the best strikers in tje world and a back up who has scored in a Champions League final.

He also has a totally unproven 19 year old striker that it seems some clubs may be willing to pay 20m for... I think I can see where this is going.

Klopp sees him train every day and will know whether he can add enough to his match day squad this season to offset taking the 20m to spend on a new player (he cant). So he sells him with the buy back clause to avoid embarrassment if he's wrong and the buying club take all the risk of whethet he's good enough for the premiership (unproven)

So many rumours knocking about at the moment and I don’t think we can read too much into what either Klopp or CW are sayOMG in their press conferences as neither will want to show their hand.

Pure unsubstantiated rumours of course, but a lot of West Ham fans on various social media outlets seem to be suggesting they have ‘been offered’ Brewster on loan along with a Spanish forward. No doubt we’ll find out over the next few days.

He's an East Londoner & a West Ham fan. It wouldn't surprise me if his agent have put feelers out to West Ham.
