I took his comment on overseas player as being in the context of overall strategy. Slightly paraphrasing, but I think it was more in the line of “we have a list that we’re working through depending on availability, if players aren’t available we move on to the next, some of those players are abroad”. So we might have a list of targets that are based abroad but that’s not to say they’re the top targets – they might be ones we go to if the ones ahead of them aren’t available.

So all our targets are based either here..... or abroad...

CW is the master of misdirecting the media - everything he says is plausible but calculated to mislead them + our rivals. He keeps his cards close to his chest coz he knows we can get outbid on fee +/or wages if other clubs do the "lazy recruitment" to which he's already referred.
We the fans have to accept we won't get advance info but that doesn't spoil the fun we have speculating.
In reality he'll have more than one striker targeted and if 2 excellent prospects present themselves we might even find we get 2 in.
We've got a PL loan left plus loans from abroad plus permanents + no one knows what's left in the budget.
Anything can happen.
Personally I hope we get a top quality starter as a loan + a younger kid to develop on a cheap permanent.

He suggested too that we’re just waiting for some dominoes to fall, which seemed to me to be that the selling/loaning club needs to confirm a new signing is in place first before letting them go. I still have this strong feeling that two more strikers will be arriving. One permanent and one loan. These will rotate with Mcb as our main strikeforce for the season. Moose will be used as an impact sub and then reassess him before the Jan window. If he gets back his mojo, then he will replace the loan striker next season, or if not then shipped out in Jan or at the end of the season.
Didzy will be used as a fallback to cover injuries and same applies to Billy, although as suggested elsewhere, wouldn't be surprised to see him out on loan for the season (his choice as he just loves playing and not sitting on the bench) with a promise he will return to take on a coaching role. Burke will be used further down the field as and when required.
Midfield, defence, keeper now all sorted and well covered.
