I still have this strong feeling that two more strikers will be arriving. One permanent and one loan. These will rotate with Mcb as our main strikeforce for the season. Moose will be used as an impact sub and then reassess him before the Jan window. If he gets back his mojo, then he will replace the loan striker next season, or if not then shipped out in Jan or at the end of the season.
Didzy will be used as a fallback to cover injuries and same applies to Billy, although as suggested elsewhere, wouldn't be surprised to see him out on loan for the season (his choice as he just loves playing and not sitting on the bench) with a promise he will return to take on a coaching role. Burke will be used further down the field as and when required.
Midfield, defence, keeper now all sorted and well covered.
There you go! Simple. Easy this management lark init
Billy going nowhere....his presence/experience in the dressing room with the new players is vital

I'm not holding my breath for more than one unless we move someone on. It would seem a waste of wages to have any more strikers than Sharp, Didz, McG, 2 x Olis and A N Other on the books.

Can not see Sharp starting many games he might not even get on the bench, he's not going to get the amount of goals we need unfortunately.

McGoldrick I love the guy but he's never going to be prolific (although I would bet my last pound that he will beat his last seasons total injuries permitting).

Burke will mostly be used as a sub to offer something different i think, unless of course he started to bang them in from the start, but I'm not sure Chris is expecting him to do that.

McBurnie is the only one who will be a regular starter and I honestly think he again can beat his last seasons total injuries permitting.

Moose i hope I'm wrong but I just don't think his heart is in it for what ever reason, can see him being moved on maybe even this window if not January. Real shame but we especially cannot afford to have a player in our squad that looks knackered after 20min.

So basically if McBurnie got injured we would be up a certain creek without a paddle.

We need to create more chances and score more goals than last season. Because I just can not see our defence having the same excellent season they had last season, which means we will need to score more goals.

I think your analysis is spot on apart from I think we only need one decent striker to come in rather than two (as long as we don't sell anybody). I'm just not sure we could justify seven forwards on the books.

If a proven striker comes in I still think one of billy or moose will go out

Same. The fact he didn’t try and move things on when it was raised directly last week was the first sign for me. He suggested too that we’re just waiting for some dominoes to fall, which seemed to me to be that the selling/loaning club needs to confirm a new signing is in place first before letting them go. Again, that doesn’t seem to fit Brewster.
this whole window he has played smoke and mirrors, similar to match day, his transfer tactics have been excellent, it wouldn't even surprise me if he had two more up his sleeve just to mindfuck with dean smith...

reckon a lot of the rumours have been generated by CW to hide from our true targets, looks like he played on the Cash rumour once other clubs were involved as he knew they could beat us on wages/fee.

... All the while we were sorting out Bogle's deal behind closed doors and getting excellent value for money... I reckon CW added another £4m to Cash's fee just from being in the mix 😂

I don't think its as good a TW as he makes out, squad yes but no 1st team improvements, and the area we need to improve, attack is still waiting. Even if we get Brewster/Dennis/Pukki in all today they wont be used our system for a few weeks. By which time we'll 2/3 games down the line.

I see Bogle as a Baldock replacement next season tbh, and then Lowe for Enda eventually too, I get what you are saying, but apart from strikers, who do we need to replace in our 1st team?

Edit: also no 1st team improvements? dont forget we filled our 1 key position that was in dire need with a 1st teamer!

We also have all of the likely first team on Monday coming off the back of their first full season of the Premier League. I think too many are forgetting the benefit of that experience, despite having witnessed it in the Championship when the likes of Stevens, Basham, Baldock, even Sharp, were all noticeably more productive in that second season at that level building on the season before. Our first team is full of players that I think can continue to improve in the same way – they go into this season with first hand experience that they simply didn’t have this time last season.

You are probably right it will only be one.
Although we have lost Robinson, Clarke, and Zivkovic and only signed Burke so far.
I know Zivkovic was to replace Robinson when he went out on loan. But we have also lost Freeman who while not a striker was certainly an attacking player.

Next season maybe, I don't think Rammers is an improvement on Hendo yet, though it will be interesting to see how he performs with a good defence in front of him. Great squad window but no 1st team starter improvement yet. Whichever striker we sign, they have to quickly get used to playing 1 against 3 defenders as the other striker will be out on the wing forming the overload,

I suppose that depends on your definition of “need”. If we’re happy to tread water (or maybe slightly decline as players’ bodies and abilities degrade with age) none of them need to be replaced. In reality, to improve, we need to replace all of them. Gradually. I’m definitely not one to advocate wholesale changes, and the current squad have done brilliantly to get us where we are, but if we want to keep improving, which I’m sure most fans, along with Wilder, do, we need to look at better players. Again, this isn’t meant in a disparaging way to the current lot, they’ve done us proud, but there’s no room for sentiment or standing still in football.

I am very happy with the two signings from Derby, come next season (21/22) they could hopefully have surpassed George and Enda and cemented their place in our improved(!) first team. Fingers crossed Burke rediscovers and builds on what it was that made teams spend so much on him, as well.

Whilst I disagree with tincan ’s last sentence as I think signing any of those forwards would improve our first eleven, he’s right in that our starting line up will, in reality, be no better than last season’s as it currently stands.

Hendo's boots were always going to be difficult to fill, but do we have the next better option? I think we do to be honest!

I honestly cannot see an area we could realistically improve apart from striker.

I guess we could improve wing backs, but it would be so harsh to take away Enda+George's 1st team spots after they played brilliantly for most of last season, so CW acted on this and we now have what looks like two brilliant backup players to push for the 1st team

Bongle, the one area we can realistically improve is Norwoods. Dont get me wromg he did really well last season but he makes some horrendous errors and carries no goal threat whatsoever. I think that is what Berge has been brought in for. He will pose more of an attacking threat from central midfeld than Norwood and its something we desperately need.

That leaves right midfield to improve ...with or without Lunny. Im guessing thats why we were interested in Swift but Buendia would be my choice.

A.midfield 3 of Fleck, Berge, Buendia would definitely be an upgrade and I think Beundia is gettable.

Guesswork but I think the development shown by Berge in the latter parts of last season and this off-season (shown in the pre-season games) in the RCM position made them re-think where he potentially fits in this system. That's not to say he's now not Norwood's long-term successor, as I reckon he was when he signed, but I think they've realised he can be very good at RCM. In this system I actually think Ampadu could be more of a fit in Norwood's position due to his passing ability. While Norwood does have some faults, it's easy to see the influence of his passing on our system, and it's an area where he's better than Berge. Could be totally wrong but I think that's why Swift has seemingly fallen off the radar a bit, and why Buendia (heartbreakingly) hasn't even received as much as a dodgy Twitter link to us. With Lundstram potentially on he's way we'd need someone new for that role, but in the meantime Berge/Lundstram is decent depth at the position.

And there was me thinking the overload drags the defenders out wide to create the space in the box for the striker and on rushing midfielder....no wonder we had such a terrible season 🤦🏻‍♂️
