Matches everythin sir Chris has said tonight for competition for George, wouldnt be suprised if this is one of the 3/5 signings early next week

I'd be fine with this. The thing against it is his age (must be at least 30) and I don't see him seriously challenging for George's spot, but I can't think of many who could. On the plus side, he should fit straight into our system and we do desperately need cover at RWB, so I can see this happening.

Cash is young and inexperienced. As a defender he may have a very tough season ahead.
Gunter at least has experience of international football and facing better players, so as back up what’s the problem?
Short term deal and address this again next season.

would provide good cover, we wont be 'upgrading' on Baldock this year.

I'm not sure a 31 year old released by Reading is competition for George. I'm not even sure he's an upgrade on K. Freeman at this point. This would be underwhelming to say the least.

Deary me, some of the posts on this thread. FFS

Tell you what, if you are reading this Chris, fuck your current scouting team off and start using the real experts.... on here.
So you’d be happy with a player not good enough for Championship Reading?

It’s not about being good enough for Reading.
Can they afford to give him a new contract? Have they got a replacement lined up?
Has he turned them down?

Think about it, we can’t afford to upgrade on GB...we wanted a player to cover if needed. The kid from Wigan would have been perfect as not only would he have pushed for the team he would have provided some succession. But he ended up too expensive.
Cash...has gone to Villa for way too much as first choice.

FFs, this is about saving budget for players needed to improve the team, and at the moment that’s in the forward line.
If we sign Gunter, I’d be happy that we have an international level Experienced full back, that’s cost nowt, covered a gap and allowed our tight budget to be used where we are desperate for upgrades

He’s good enough for Championship Reading, and remains in the current Wales squad despite being without a club. He’s been released because they need to trim their wage bill, and would be an upgrade on Kieron Freeman.

If he is deemed good enough by the management team, or at least good enough to be given a chance, then it's fine by me.

Every pre season under Wilder I hear the same complaints about lack of 'proven' quality, yet we seem to do rather well regardless.

Not every signing will will prove successful, they never do at any club. But if Gunter is coming in, then let's not right him off before he even kicks a ball for us.

He’s been in and out of their team for the last two seasons and only got his place back last season due to injuries. Clearly not good enough for the Prem and would be a cheap option.

He’s been in and out of their team due to injuries. And of course he’d be a cheap option – that’s kind of the point...

He was dropped, not injured, and barely played the season before last. He got back in the side due to injuries to others. It’s all online.

At least we agree he is a cheap option. Very cheap.

Using the same reasoning as some on here, the one, the only Didzy was not good enough for Ipswich, yet turned out ok for us.
Some people just like to winge!
Thank god I learnt to disassociate myself from all the people giving me those negative waves964BD1D3-D8AF-4D27-BFB3-2F7254626285.jpeg

The difference is Gunter is going to be a back up for RWB. It’s perfectly fine for him not to be an improvement on Baldock, but I’d at least expect him to be an improvement on the previous back up we’ve just let go.

do We know it is him?
Do we know that he did not fit their system and was subsequently overlooked?
Did he fall out with his club coaching / management team?
The welsh management team think him better than Freeman?

So many reasons to be positive about things yet some of our “supporters” choose to dwell on the negatives and they may not even happen.

Has as much flair and offensive threat as a cheese toastie. Not our type of wingback.

All this from speculation about it being Gunter?
I can only imagine the meltdown if we actually do sign him

After hardly playing the last 3 years, maybe Freeman wants first team football and didn’t want to stay?

Freeman couldn’t even get on the bench last season so it wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted a new challenge.
