Most one sided loss

Wasn't one sided as such. But when we lost at home to City in the PL on boxing day. They were shit, and we should've got something out of it, but Stephen Ireland popped up and scored.

League Cup against Arsenal September 2008 got hammered 6-0 by Arsenals 2nd string absolutely awful performance by us but our fans never stopped singing and getting behind the lads.

Not sure you've grasped the question in the OP.

The Sunderland home game we lost 0-4 was the most one sided game I've ever seen. Could have been 10.

Losing 6-0 at Man City after getting Tracey sent off in the first 10 minutes was pretty one sided

In our favour, one of the games at Hillsborough we lost should have been 0-8, Tonge played like Ginola that day

It was 28 corners, and 26 of them were in the second half! We absolutely battered them, but lost 2-0. I think it was our first league defeat of the season.

I thought it was something like that but wasn't sure. Funnily enough I was tinkering in the garage a few weeks ago and came across the programme from that match.

That match cost me £28 for a ticket. Corresponding fixture vs city last season worked out costing me £25ish for two - season tickets. Nuts.
Same score both games.
Nuts.

So games we should have won by a country mile but lost.....

Most recently, Southampton at home last season.
From the past, the aforementioned West Ham game stands out where we bombarded them and that little wanker, Mark Ward, scored twice for them.

Probably going to get pelters for this, but Pressman was a decent keeper, his only fault was playing for that lot

Anyone who doesn’t rate him has let their hatred of Wednesday blur their vision. There are still some on here who wouldn’t rate Di Canio for that reason though!

Pressman was a very good goalkeeper and we’d have loved him if he played for us.

Home game v West Ham in Dave Bassett's era, Oct 89. We had umpteen million corners but lost to two counter-attacks
After that game, Simon Tracey was at the bar in the railway station pub when some pigs floated by.
They spotted me reading Flashing lade and smashed the window.
Cue police roaring at everyone to get out etc. 😄

Blades 0 Sunderland 4 in what I think was Bruce’s last game at centre half for some strange reason I’ve know idea why I was sat in south stand g and h seats when Sunderland scored first a makham stood up and cheered bad mistake about 10 yobs set about him bang out of order

Barnsley 2-0 at Jokewell. Morgs played for Barnsley that day. Think Adrian Heath first game in charge. In 90 minutes we had 1 shot they could have had half dozen. Only probably 150 Blades and getting slagged off by the Dingles singing . Come in a taxi , you must have come in a taxi. Disappointing and embarrassing.

That game came through my mind too. We were awfully outclassed. I think Niall Quinn and Michael Bridges got 2 goals apiece.

Also Stevenage, fxxxxxg Stevenage. 4-0 defeat .Another team that should have had 6. Great day out spoilt by a game of football.

One of CWs first games for us, Southend at home. 3-0 down in about 15 minutes. A home fixture too. Never left the ground before 20 minutes, that day changed that.

Shrewsbury at home under Adkins was pretty bad as well think we lost 4 nil ? Carnt remember the joys of getting old but ask me a question about United 30 / 40 years ago probably know the answer 😀

With regards to the Scunthorpe match, coincidently, I was looking through some old emails the other day and found my match 'report' :

"It was the strangest of strange games.

Hammered em first 10 mins, hit post twice, Ched missed a sitter far post, totally in control of possession and the game.

They scored with pretty much their first shot, but we still pressured before half time, team got clapped off even losing 1-0 at the half.

Team lost a bit of structure 2nd half, passing wasnt so good, but still on top.

They scored from a corner, we changed to 4-4-2 but resorted to lumping it and lost control of the game, even then we had plenty of possession around their box and had what looked like a perfectly ok goal ruled out.

they scored again. I left with 2 to go and missed the 4th - i only actually found out it was 4-0 when i got to work and heard it from all directions...

Some of the posts on s24su are right - it was a bizaare experience."

This is an inevitable and unavoidable truth.

But he was fucking sprawling when Browny volleyed that fucker in, so 'don't care'.

Pick THAT one out, you fat cunt.

pommpey

0-5 at home to Arsenal in FA cup 3rd Round (1977?). We were going well under caretaker manager Cec Coldwell... and were fancied to upset that mighty Gooners team. Malcolm McDonald tore us new one with a hat trick. A few years later in mid 80s I remember going to Watford for another FA Cup game. Another 5-0 drubbing.... a young John Barnes doing the tearing that day. Strangely enough... my memories of that day are that we all had a right laugh and it was a good away day....!
Was at both those games. The only consolation about the Watford match was meeting up with some Watford fans afterwards in a pub in King's Langley and them taking us on a mini pub crawl of some great little pubs and finishing up at a good chippy in Tring!

From memory 29 corners, absolutely battered them in the 2nd half, they defended brilliantly

We beat Coventry 1-0 under Adkins on sky one grim December day. Absolutely atrocious, infamous for that awful McEveley ‘tackle’ and a ‘goal’ not being given to them despite it crossing the line (there was a handball leading up to it, overlooked too). George Long couldn’t keep a straight face in the post match interview.
Goal apart no shots on target and they had loads. Even sharp’s goal was laughable, in off his shoulder. Ground was soulless, I wonder why.

Port Vale at home in the 100 point season. It was 4-0 but I think we had the ball in the net about 8 times?!
Edit: Oh right, loss.
Definitely the most one sided win I've seen, apart from the 8 we had in the net, we had several other good chances. I think they were 5th prior to kick off. That was the first game we really battered someone

And Coventry played in their red and white away kit.
