Failing that send him north of the border, even Jake Eastwood has got a game
Half a game, not sure he'll be first choice now either!
As for RND see what he looks like in pre season, no point sending our next international standard starlet on loan if he handles pre season well enough with the big boys.

Did he get pulled at half time?

He played 16 games in all competitions. He was in and out of the side in the initial months. He was then first choice from November till we recalled him. It reflects the comments about him establishing himself into the first choice role, and then doing well in it to stay there – I don’t know why you’re expending the energy to try and paint that as a failure for what turned out to be ultimately a half season loan. It’s likely influenced him getting the Kilmarnock loan.

If you think I’m trying to paint this as evidence he’s the next Ramsdale, I’m not at all. In fact I expect he may never play for us again. But let’s not see an error by him on his debut last week and use it to suddenly try and rewrite what had been a successful loan for him at Scunthorpe. If we loaned Norrington-Davies to Rotherham, saw him in and out of the team initiatially, before starting consistently till January, and we recall him due to an injury to Osborn but see him barely involved the rest of the season, I’m sure you’d be first to say he’d had a successful loan.
I just don't understand how you can subjectively look at that and say it's a successful loan? 11 league games.

I actually think he's a decent keeper as well.

Yep came racing out to try and tackle a forward who easily skipped around him and scored, there were also defenders in attendance, was awful and funny.

The clip of it is on this thread:

Things we wanted to get out of a successful loan for a keeper:
– first team experience
– establish as first choice
– decent performances and clean sheets

Three ticks. If you expected him to walk into the first team and play every minute, then you’re expecting too much.
United, Scunthorpe, and Eastwood himself, probably all think it was a successful loan. I don’t think they think 16 games, including 11 league games is a poor amount to judge that on. The only disappointment about it is probably that all three parties would have ideally wanted it to last the full season, but our circumstances dictated otherwise.

Establish as first choice is a Wednesday level stretch :tumbleweed:

Get him out ASAP!

Won't learn much just turning up for training and sat on the sidelines.

Needs regular 1st team football in order to improve as a player to potentially crack our squad in the future.

Blades Analytics posted this... stat thingy, which seems very impressive.

Ideally I’d like to see him loaned out to a championship team till January and see how he does with the step up.
Then if he’s still impressing in that league, gerrim back and integrated into the squad.

Thought he looked like a young Stuart Pearce first time I saw him. Difficult to say what we should do with him, gradually try to give him playing time, or a new (6 months?) loan.

Both Leicester and Everton played 18 year old defenders against us, so at one stage it shouldn't be unthinkable that we tried a 21 year old who's looked our best prospect for some time.

Wilder must be confident on bringing in a left back then.... as preseason shows he was an injury or so from the bench at least!

Maybe, maybe not. I think Osborn would be first to play there still tbh if there’s an injury. It’s quite possible he’s the main cover for LWB and LCM now, and that we instead need to recruit for the scenario where two of Fleck, Stevens, Osborn are out at the same time.

Agree Osbourn is good cover but we would have signed Robinson if Fulham hadn't got involved suggesting CW wants more depth there Or that could have been opportunistic given the very low release clause.

Chabuddy G called it to be fair.

From what I hear the two other options at left-back they have are a bit injury prone, and it’s likely he’ll be starting. They play a diamond with a back 4, but the full-backs tend to be quite attacking, so shouldn’t be a problem that he won’t be LWB. That’s assuming no formation change by Jones.

Good move for him. It's been said that a test at Championship is the next step up in assessing his abilities. You'd have thought he will be tested a fair amount too, playing for one of the relegation favourites.

Bryan could be cover at LWB with his #BeautifulBalls? Certainly looked better there than at LCB.

Dan Potts about to be benched 😉😎

GLTTL - Good move for him. Will get plenty of action and will have a lot of work to do.

Also, one other interesting bit of info from one of the local Luton journos: Luton tried to buy RND permanently, but we said no, hence the loan.

Suspect on the basis of what he says may be getting a left wing back on loan for the season.

I think unless an amazing opportunity emerges for quality backup (eg Antonee Robinson) we might just go with the options we have for this season, of which there are several already available to us. I don’t think it’s an area we need to prioritise for strengthening. We started last season with Stevens, Osborn, and Bryan in that order for LWB options. We are currently starting the season with Stevens, Osborn, J-Robs and Bryan in that order for LWB. You might say that Osborn is now Fleck’s backup and cant be expected to cover both, but if Fleck is back to his usual injury-free self this season the risk is minimised. We have at any rate options there – in contrast our RWB options after Baldock are basically non-existent.
