Don’t play the bidding game
If we make sure he knows a premier league team are after him, let Reading explain to him why they are blocking his step up to the premiership

Genuinely put in one of the worst performances I've ever seen at Bramall Lane in the 4-0 win against Reading. Fat, shit, lazy, unskilled. He was embarrassing

Wouldn't be against this at all. Should be reasonably priced and still at a decent age. Sure we'll have a few variations on how to pronounce his name, too.

The problem with a player like Meite is that he'd be quite useful off the bench but will cost far too much.

That would make him 6th choice striker and playing a couple of times a season though Morgs?! If he does come then I'd hope that anyone coming in this summer, unless a free transfer or a Robinson type for £500,000 which would solely be for cover, would have a decent chance of staking a claim for a first team spot, otherwise why bring them in for a significant fee, and £7m would still be significant.

I just wonder if there's a minimum fee release clause, otherwise it could be more of the same from Reading with their chairman.
Why would he not become 3rd choice striker or even second if we sign no other

Yet more media shit .... nothing going to happen ..... boring!!!!!

Exactly, that's what I'm saying. No point in replacing Leon with a £6-10m pound player. I was responding to the message from Morgan.

Scored 17 and 13 last 2 seasons in Championship for a crap side. Hes 24 with time to improve and potentially a Moose replacement from the bench.

There could be worse options and maybe this is the pond we are fishing in for the time being.

That's the level I see him at. He isn't as good as McBurnie, Mousset or McGoldrick. I think (or hope) we bring in a centre forward that is an immediate upgrade on what we have, which would make Meite a Leon Clarke replacement (5th/6th choice), however - one with a lot more potential upside and one that could be used more frequently from the bench.

If we're pinning our hopes on him being the guy to improve our first XI then I'll have concerns.

I'm hoping the reason we're not going the extra little bit for players like Matty Cash & John Swift is that the funds are required at the very top of the pitch. Maybe I'm being too optimistic though...

Is this one of the left field signings that the manger recently spoke about?

I don't really know that much about him so can't/don't want to comment on this kid TBH? (I suppose that it would give the Mouse a French companion!)

Truth hurts clearly 👍

I do think you have to look at what we're doing as a whole though rather than focusing on each individual signing. It's clear Wilder recruits players for specific functions as part of his tactics. It's why we're 9th in the Premier League but without much interest in any of our players. They're brought in to perform roles. It's unlikely we're going to be making superstar signings, or obvious "names" because we can't compete. We have to be cuter with our recruitment.

I was slightly underwhelmed when we signed Hogan and Madine, but when I gave it extra thought it was clear that they gave us options to play different ways in games. All of the sudden we looked a way stronger outfit that could go a few different ways to win games.

Yep, I would agree with most part of that (I always did think that there was a player in Hogan though, and I honestly thought that we would have taken an gamble on him perm when we got promoted, but them management obviously believed that he was not prem standard).

Love Chris Wilder but if Meite and Burke are what we are the type of player we are in for then we will be looking at a relegation battle we need far better quality than that our squad is already weaker than last season.
