Our model is to low ball on wages and bring in assets for sizeable fees. We simply can't afford to complete on wages and have anything like a competitive transfer budget. Burnley have done it the other way round and, to their credit, have made it work.
If we want to spend a similar amount of money as Burnley and Bournemouth on wages, and have a similar budget to last year, what we really want is the Prince out and a sugar daddy (ala Denim) in. If the choice is the Burnley or SUFC 19/20 approach, my vote is for maintaining last year's approach.
This approach is frustrating as we will often get blown out over wages and have to be really canny re where we acquire new signings. Berge is a great example of this approach being successful, as are the signings of Ramsdale and Moose. All three signed before they have signed major PL or even Championship level deals.

Our model should be sign the best young up and coming proven talent such as mcburnie last season such as Leicester/did with there signings

If we sign players like Watkins/eze/Watkins there isn’t much downside to these players we get relegated we’ve got a proven championship player , we stay up they do well there worth 40 million

As long as we’re not chucking money at has beens like fulham/villa/qpr have done recently.

Worryingly it looks like teams like villa/fulham have learnt from there mistakes and are Now shopping in our market and are paying more than us.

I don't think we can afford to shop in that market anymore. There's at least half a dozen other Premier League clubs who are after the same young players, proven at the level below who are willing to offer bigger financial packages than we are.

We have to be patient and wait until they (Fulham, Villa, Leeds, Palace, Newcastle etc...) have hoovered all of those types of players up & then shop more freely in the market for players slightly less fashionable.

It would be reasonable to assume that if we had signed Cash it would not have been as a back up , given the amount of money involved and his own aspirations and expectations .

That being the case , it is also reasonable to assume that the only player he would be replacing would have been George Baldock , in which case I'm glad we didn't sign him .

He was terrific for us last year and will continue to be so next . There is absolutely no guarantee that Cash or anyone else could perform that most difficult of roles better than Gorgeous George , so for me it's £10 million saved to put towards strengthening in other areas .

Anymore ??
We've just got 132 million quid and will get similar next year, we definitley wont if we stand still and get relegated

So what now we are short in a back up for fleck

Now we have to sign another player to replace freeman, we wont find a player as good as luke freeman who can play as LCM and also play as an attacking mid

If we were getting 4/5 Million then fair enough but a loan for a season is daft makes no sense at all
They may have an agreement to pay that sum come the end of the season based on time played or performance.

Shit rag Sun saying Villa want Tripier from Athletico.
Villa so far no better than last season.

Neither are we.

Cash won’t be coming here, as our valuations are miles off. That’s Forest prerogative. We will look at other options for a squad right back within our budget.

I don’t see the problem. We haven’t been anything other than honest that our budget is lower than everyone else’s. So we make the most of it. It’s not going to change unless we see a billionaire arrive with the funds to loan the club, it’s really that simple. Complaining it’s not enough won’t alter the fact the club is likely losing money still or at best breaking even, Despite the recent huge increase in revenue. There’s too much other than players that needs addressing, and investing in infrastructure is just as important for the clubs future as squandering it on playing staff.

I'd love to see how Cash performs with Villa, because personally I don't see him as a PL quality RB in a back 4. He's a PL quality wingback in a back 5 though.

I think this is a decent shout. Didn't Villa start to play with a five in some games towards the back end though?

You would think villa would concentrate on bringing a left side defender if the rumour, Targett is off to Leicester.

And a second wave of Covid-19 yet to come? Some of these idiot clubs who are thinking of paying £25m for Watkins or £12m for Cash for 2nd division players in these uncertain times are going to end up being badly burned. Leeds paying £30m for a 29 year old Spaniard is another one that springs to mind. Absolute madness.

Villa pissed all last years prem money up the wall and they’re making the same moves again. Now the other similar teams are doing the same. If we have another good season with our modest ish spend, surely this must be the blueprint for promoted teams. Obviously not all teams have a Chris Wilder though.

We are trying to run the club in a sustainable way. We can’t do that if we commit to the sort of insane contract Fulham have just given Robinson (rumoured to be pushing £50k per week) nor will we by spending £15m on a right back who, although has obvious potential, is completely unproven at our level.

It is frustrating but I believe we are taking the right path. As others have said, Cash is being priced by Forest at a higher fee than Doherty who has had 2 really good years with Wolves. Madness in my opinion.

Now is not the time to lose our heads. If CW didn’t think he was being given the appropriate tools to improve the first team squad, he is not to type to stick around. There’s no way he would quietly stand back and and watch the team go backwards.

We might end up missing out on a couple of our original targets as it is pretty obvious our peers with their billionaire owners can outdo us on fees and particularly wages. However, we will have contingencies in place in this scenario. CW seems pretty confident the squad will be stronger come the end of the window and I see no reason to doubt him. UTB

Robinson is on £25,000 a week, but still too much for a reserve? We have enquired about Roberts from Swansea but not yet followed up with a bid. Loads of time left yet, no rush, despite the histrionics of some on here!

50k is not insane !! We are in the premier league the average wage of a player in the prem outside the top 6 will be around that mark

If this doesn't happen, can't say I would be that disappointed, RWB isn't even our weakest wing back position. If anything it's the left side.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 He’d be a reserve here to Enda! Jesus wept man. You’re prepared to pay a kid from a 3rd division club more for sitting on his arse than a fella that’s given us 7-8/10 every week for 3 seasons?

Wilder has got Villa and Fulham competing against each other in a spending frenzy. If he says that he is looking at Ada Bailey from Man City, to be our new tea lady, Smith and Parker would be out bidding each other to get her. they are like then sneaky twats at school who copy off the boffins.
Personally I wouldn’t play in a poker game with him, he’d bluff the shit out of you, remember he consults with Dave Bassett, who kidded Francis all those years ago.

Enda is 30 , and Robinson was/is the best young LB outside the prem along with Cash the best RB it could be argued. I dont think hes worth 50k a week obviously fulham do as he may be there main LB if we didnt have stevens then id be happy for us to pay that.

But if you think 50k is a lot for a mid table prem player then your wrong.

In the context our of wage structure it would be an act of lunacy to pay £50k per week to someone who would be coming in as reserve left back. He’d be comfortably the best paid player in the squad and I’m not sure how you would explain that one away to the likes of Fleck, JOC, etc.

Everyone has an option I’ll let anyone express it, however people joking about the sllitting of wrists is not accepted
People did it loads when we were in league one to take the piss out of fans who weren't happy and nobody cared.

He’s on £25,000 a week, but it’s still way too much for a bench warmer. and he’s nowhere near the best LB outside the premier league.
