2 new faces for the weekend....

Quotes might be out of date (over the weekend) - to be fair at that point we prob still expected Robinson to sign....

Can’t see it being anyone other than ramsdale - other links seem to have gone a little cold. Unless wilder has a left field signing up his sleeve.

What a terrible Website. The Star always manages to get in 1000 words in to paragraphs when only a few are needed

Example...

Statement:

Chris Wilder to buy 3 players this week.

Sheffield Star speak:

Chris Wilder who is 53 next month and now has been the Sheffield United manager for 4 years since United were in the 1st division and arguable at their lowest ebb for many a year, is looking at the possibility of bringing in 3 players to the Steel City's Premier League club over the coming days. This is expected to happen if negotiations are successful with their current employers and if Prince Abdulla will provide the necessary funds to consolidate Sheffield United FC's membership of England's top flight.

You can almost see them using the word count function to check they've hit the target set by the editor.

“We always like to do a lot of work on shape, because it’s vital everyone knows their jobs,” Wilder, who hopes at least two new faces will be on board when United’s coach leaves the complex in Shirecliffe. “Obviously there’s lads here who already know them inside out, while some would benefit from a little more work because they’ve not been here as long. But there’s always things you can do better.”

I didn't get too excited because I thought one of the new faces was Wes Foderingham and that the other would be Ramsdale. Then again, it does say AT LEAST two new faces.

Or 2 AMs behind a striker
If McGoldrick plays, he will drop into midfield at times anyway. I can see us going with two AMs behind a striker against the likes of Man City/Liverpool...or maybe even reverting to the flat three. It will be good to have plans B & C to go along with A

If it happens it will be the most telegraphed tweak in the history of tactical tweaks – we’ve been getting Wilder hints and pundit/press hints for months now. At this stage it’ll be more of a surprise if we keep things 100% as is – it seems clear that we’re looking at another non-defence adjustment, hopefully one that helps us create a bit more without us losing the solidity we have.

Well you say that but the camp was split in two. Many were adamant that there would be no tweak. Then others like myself debated possible alternatives.

I'm not convinced, he's so left sided and best driving with the ball and arriving late in the box. He's a wonderful CM for me. We'd need a 10

I just think you need pace and creativity in that number 10 role. I agree with your take on it.

I’m not sure how many newspapers write 7 word stories tbf haha

I almost started a thread on this - I think we might see a tweak to enable Norwood and Berge to both play in their strongest positions with another midfielder in front of them.
Said months ago that the obvious evolution of our formation is two deeper players and two from Fleck, Norwood and Berge being picked depending on form, fitness and opposition.
We’ve proven our solid base and now we’ll move it on to give us more creativity to improve our attacking threat.

Yes, we will need to strengthen the squad for next season.
However, whenever any transfer window opens, the one thing I really worry about is keeping our better players.
If we manage to keep hold of all our 'core' players that'd be a right result and anything else, over and above the existing group, will simply be a bonus.

I think it'd be important that any advanced central midfielder (ie the creator) was more of a midfielder than a striker though. Dont think we could push it that far.

Mason Mount is a good example of a creative player that would fit the role.

Just re reading this article and im pretty sure it doesnt mean what we think it does, i think it means Foderingham and Ramsdale.

I'm not so sure FB - I suspect the flatter mid 3 will be around to some time to come. The trick will be, and it may come down to new personnel being recruited, is how CWAK add more creativity without losing solidity. I don't think we'll see the recruitment of a Duffy type of player i.e. predominantly attacking and offers little/nothing defensively, more likely adding more creativity and threat from a new RCM with McG dropping deeper to link play when he's up front or as the #10 when CWAK revert to a diamond.

I'm not saying that how I'd choose to play, just what I think is more likely to happen.

Wes Foderingham has been announced, so I interpret it as at least two new signings, one being Ramsdale, who it appears is currently undergoing his medical

We've effectively played with Didsy doing the false number 9, and Mcburnie as a hassling midfielder, out of possession, so formalising that is an option

The quotes in the article are from last month, the other sections could be anytime, last week, as of last night etc. It also doesnt say 2 announced it says 2 on the coach
