get him back for another year and establish ourselves in the premier. Then go big on a keeper permanent.
I agree, no player is for the long term anyway, some have 2/3 years left and we will replace all of them eventually. COVID, reduced spending, not established in the EPL, Henderson can do a job for us.
Goal is to stay up next season, and he is proven at that.
Unless we have a specific budget set aside for a keeper, use Deano again.
Sort that position out after next season.

I'd love us to sign our own goalkeeper who would obviously be our own asset to develop. However, my guess is that in order to get a keeper that is good enough for where we're at currently, we'd possibly need to spend £10m plus and essentially signing Hendo on loan again for a loan fee, probably of a few million enables us to spend more money where we desperately need to up top. There is the increased wages but maybe we're not paying all of those anyway. Of course, at some point we'r going to have to spend some decent money on a goalkeeper, unless we can get a Harry Bassett type bargain goal keeper out there somewhere! When I say bargain that could just be for £3-5m in todays prices! Of for Simon Tracey at £7,500 I think it was, Mel Rees (sadly missed obviously) for £25,000 and the big money signing of Alan Kelly for £150,000!

The media talk is Chelsea are prepared to offer £170k a week, so if Man U match that and we loaned him again paying 100% of his wages it’s nearly £9m!

Even if we worked out a deal for say 50%-75% (unlikely) it’s still a lot of money for a loan. I’d love for him to come back, but unfortunately I think it’s time we moved on.
As I've said previously on this issue, I think we shouldn't look to sell ourselves short on how important we've been to his development.
I think there is value to Man Utd for them to send him back to us, and if we genuinely feel there are comparable options for us to bring in as an alternate we shouldn't just accept what they propose.
If they want to offer him a bumper new deal to secure his services for them, then great but I don't think we should pay for it. The price should be similar to what we payed last season with maybe a small mark up because he's proven he can perform at this level. It certainly shouldn't cover all his wages.
The best solution for all is for him to come back here, but if they value the deal too highly then we need to have the bollocks to move on.
First things first, we need to have an early deadline of when this will be agreed by and if that passes we move onto our alternates otherwise you get to September and they've got you in no position to negotiate.

Henderson isn’t coming back next season, the interest from Chelsea has pushed Man U into an impossible position and forced them to offer crazy money to a reserve keeper.
So unless they are prepared to allow us to pay 10-20% of his wage (which they won’t as will get better offers) he isn’t coming here.

Sooner we accept that the better. And doesn’t matter what Hendo wants, he can say he wants to play for Man U and if not Then then us, But fact is u less we pay it he won’t come.
I see him sitting on the bench at ManU, playing cup games and going backwards.

We missed our chance, if only we had tried to buy him before his first loan, I reckon we’d have got him for £2-3m with maybe a buy back clause, and looking at a tidy profit selling him now. Hindsight and all that.

I totally get where you're coming from Booker but the sums for Henderson for another season would be astronomical. Man U have been pushed into a corner now with Chelsea's reputed contract offer and will either have to A) promise Hendo the No1 spot (unlikely) or B) match or come very close to Chelsea's offer of £170k a week and loan him out again. Even at 50% of that and a loan fee it's extremely expensive for one season with nothing to show for it at the end of it. I'd hazard a guess the loan fee would be north of £4m as well.

£85k a week wages plus £4m loan fee = £7.65m for just one season.

Say we got the Turkish lad and he cost £15m and signed a 5 year contract on £40k a week initially. The amortisation on the fee would be spread meaning £3m per year added to £2m wages so in effect he would cost us £5m per season but he would be our player.

I may be being naive here but why do Man Utd have to do any of those things?
Henderson signed a new contract last year he is Man Utd’s player to do with as they please.

Apparently we had agreed a fee for him last season but didn't go through with it

Their are two bargain goalkeepers out there already both plying there trade in The french Ligue 1 - Gautier Larsonneur (Ranked 3rd Best) and Alfred Gomis (Ranked 5th) both playing for bottom half teams. Gautier only has one year remaining on his contract and despite him ranking high on both French and Europe advance goalkeeping statistics (Near identical stats, ranked in a joint position with Henderson on a European level) His side this season has just been relegated to Ligue 2, it’s a chance to bring him in cheap with Henderson still around (hopefully) as a number 2 if not he’s more than capable of starting. Alfred Gomis is another young keeper his stats are comparable to both Henderson and Larsonneur however he’s coming of the back of an injury.

I’m sure we’re not sleeping on these two, the club will be well aware of all Goalkeeping options If theres another keeper out their that is cheaper wilder will make a move. But I agree we will more than likely have to spend 10m plus to get anything that even comes close to being good enough if a cheaper option doesn’t exist (which I believe it does). Maybe it desirable that the keeper has a good grasp of the English language for defensive organisational purposes? UTB!

Hate to say it but if Man U won't sell to them and won't promote him to first choice, then a possible destination could be Leeds.

They may feel ok to take the cost with it being their first season back. Big club. Were in for him before. Had a loan keeper as 1st choice in the end. Though their fans did call him a paedo which I'm not sure he appreciated. Might also fancy a chance to try Bielsa's management.
After the way that the Scum fans we’re with him I‘d have thought Leeds was the last place he’d want to risk his career CB.

I really rate Henderson and it would be great to have the England No1 at a proper tournament be a blade but Id really like us to sign a keeper now, so that our No1 is actually ours, if we resign him on loan then next year would be our 4th season with someone else GK as our No1 and fair enough it can be said that we’ve done great off the back of it but it must be a bitch to build and recruit if we are constantly at the mercy of another when it comes to arguably the most important position on the field

I’m serious. Ramsdale is bobbar.

I'm not entirely convinced by Ramsdale, but Moore is as much use as a wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man.

At least Ramsdale has broadband between his brain and his body, Moore has spotty dialup.

The stats don’t back that up, I believe. Ramsdale will get offers in the premier league, Moore will probably drop to league 1.

You could, perhaps, know more than the professionals negotiating the multi million pound contracts.

Would you buy 10/12 premier league points for 4 mill?

Moore stopped fewer than half the shots on target he faced last season (5/11 or 45%). Henderson stopped 97 out of 130 (75%); it's a reasonable assumption that we would have conceded 30-40 more with Moore in goal.

You might not rate Ramsdale but comparing him to an at-best League One goalkeeper is laughable.

FWIW Ramsdale saved 67% (127/189) of the shots on target he faced.

They’re talking £15m for Mr Hollywood? I’d spe it on a forward than spend it on him. And by the way, Moore is nowhere near as bad as your painting him out. Very short memories some people

Since the signing of Henderson, Moore has obviously been denigrated, but before his unfortunate injury at Rotherham he was more than good enough. Can’t deny, due to his lack of game time his confidence has suffered, but come on, £15m to bring back Mr-Bar-of-Soap-Hands? Nah. if not Henderson on loan, we push the boat out for cakir

Sheffield United have made a bid to bring Henderson back as he was our first choice, however Man U could not see beyond the end of their rather large egos and refused to lower their demands despite any sensible bloke acknowledging that we have potentially made them a fortune by improving their player.
