Manchester United have reportedly offered Dean Henderson an improved deal
The young goalkeeper has attracted attention from Premier League's top clubs
Chelsea are believed to be preparing a £50million bid for the Englishman
However, United have offered Henderson £100,000-per-week to keep him
Henderson has long vented his frustration at a lack of opportunities to break into the United first team, with first choice keeper David de Gea seemingly unmovable between the sticks.
The Englishman's strong displays for loan club Sheffield United, coupled with De Gea's poor showings for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, has strengthened calls for the youngster to get his shot at Old Trafford.
Henderson had told team-mates at Bramall Lane he was willing to return to the Blades next season if he is not guaranteed a first team place, but United are upping the ante to keep their man amid interest from Chelsea.
The Sun reports that Old Trafford chiefs are offering the 23-year-old an improved deal of £100,000-per-week to secure the goalkeeper's long term future at the club.
Should Henderson sign the updated terms, it would be his fourth professional contract with the club, despite never starting a game for United.
It would also present a huge blow to Chelsea's pursuit of the youngster, with Frank Lampard keen to recruit a new goalkeeper after £71million signing Kepa Arrizabalaga has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are prepared to offer United around £50million to prise one of the country's top young keepers away from them, and now the ball is well and truly in Henderson's court as he looks to determine his future.
Henderson has two years remaining on his current deal with United, with the club's hierarchy willing to let their keeper decide on his future next season.

Bit pointless signing that contract with Man U until he knows if he’s going to be No. 1.

He might as well let his contract run down and keep his options open.

Totally. Why would he sign with an employer he doesn't see a future with....

Guess it's going to be like the off season for the next few weeks!

because he gets an increase in his wage. The article doesn’t actually mention extension and even if it did it’s not like they’ve shown that they’ll let him rot in their bench. He’s already said his No1 aim is to be the first choice at Man Utd so if this is true, it’s a no brainer for him to sign it.

Typical modern day big club, throwing money at someone they might not actually use, just to effectively rip off anyone else who wants them.

Or to secure and retain the value of a in demand asset. The ones that piss me off if when clubs do it and then don’t allow them to play and develop, they just do it to stop anyone else. Like Chelsea and Man City did with the kids.

If it's been reported in the Sun Newspaper then it must be true😊

Whilst I think Hendo is a very good keeper he owes a huge debt to our team who have shielded him expertly. Our fantastic defensive record is down to the team, not the individual. I’d say that he’s made as many point winning saves as he has dropped bollocks.

I’d like him to be part of our team in the long term but it’s not like he’s putting in Alan Kelly FA Cup semi final performances every week.

Kinell, if you have to go back that far, he must be doing something reight!

Can't see that this changes anything. The £100k p.w. is just a way for Man. U. to say 'he's ours' but it won't guarantee DH a first-team spot. I think he'll stay here for another season and Man. U will chase another option as GK back-up.

Not great news for us. A further season on loan means we probably end up paying a significantly higher proportion of the wage than we are paying at the moment. Could Man U insist on a 50/50 wage split where we pay 50k a week?

Ha ha, what I mean is that we’re where we are due to a team effort rather than one player saving us from a drubbing every week. Closest recent example is probably Pickford at Sunderland whose reputation was enhanced due to plenty of practice!

It’s not meant to be negative as I like Hendo and rate him highly. I just think he’s top of the clean sheets table due to the rest of the team and should take them all out for a beer. Regularly. Til he’s 60.

Think this helps us a lot. Deano is essentially promised the number 1 spot at Man U. This new contract stops him from signing for another side on a permanent basis such as Chelsea etc.

Man U want him to develop as a goalkeeper so that narrows the choices down to a loan deal (which surly we would be number 1 choice) or he stays at Man U(which I don’t see).

If we do loan him I can see the wages we pay will obviously be higher so the deal will cost more money so then it’s about the package we offer which is down to CW and he normally gets deals done.
