Blabbermouth agents

Its the wild west and any industry that is swimming in money and poorly regulated attracts loads of cowboys.

The fact most players are young and not financially astute means they are easy to exploit.

On the other hand the agents will argue that they are looking after their clients interests and the more money the agent makes the more money the player makes.

This Robinson guy could be a case in point. Would he have signed for us for 20k a week without an agent rather than the 50k a week he may get at Fulham ?

Surely agents are just doing their job though. If a player is being offered 20k by one club, then the agent will make sure that they let other clubs know, in order to start a bidding war. Robinsons agent appears to have played a blinder here if the figures quoted are correct. I wonder what he told Fulham that we had offered in order for them table an opening bid of 50k per week for a reserve left back from the third tier.

Let them all spend there money bound to be a few good bargains left . Then when they relegated they have massess of debt.with players below premiership standards and stuck with them

I would say the opposite. Waiting for scraps invites trouble.
Understand what you saying but paying double the players are worth or having to double wages too just to get them wont work either.keep calm .be patient chris has worked wonders and wont want to be ripped off .i would love us to get certain players .but we want players who put our team first money doesnt buy loyalty.bash billy joc didsy just to name a few

are twats!

Just doing their job and looking after their own client base. The problem is not the agents it's clubs like Aston Villa, etc with rich owners, that's the problem, unfortunately, whilst the Prince is doing his best, he doesn't have the funds to go up against most of the owners in this division, which are ruining football.

Don't worry he'll buy the beers.
As all right minded fans know, next season will be a lot harder than this and Chris and Alan also know this. We don't have rich owners (even though we are now better off under the Prince, than we ever were under the McCabe family) we don't have the backing in this league to compete and if we stay up next season it will be a another mastermind by Chris, Alan and their management team.

But realistically, if teams want to pay £50k per week for a left back, etc don't blame agents, etc, blame Fulham and knobhead Scott Parker for sanctioning such a deal for a young left back. Parker, the knobhead at villa are not the people that Chris and Alan are and never will be and they will always play catch up to the managerial/coaching skills of Chris and Alan, lets just hope that we can pull a few deals off of our own without silly rich clubs like villa/fulham and we will piss all over them again next season with another big smile on our faces.

absolute joke to be paying 50k pw on a youngster who may still not make it, fuck em i would love to see it fail miserably

this is how you get horror stories like Sunderland and Bolton getting skinted by players on ridiculous contracts (Rodwell on 50k pw in League one?!)

Would not surprise me if Fulham are League One and brassic by 2024

I think it will be virtually impossible to establish ourselves in the Prem without increasing our spend and wage limit. Two or three seasons are possible but anything more unlikely.

There’s no doubt it is disheartening to miss out on players we clearly want - players you’d expect us to be able to afford.

If a player wants to play somewhere else and earn more money then no problem. History will show that there's plenty of players who have taken their agents "advice", earned a good living and never really established themselves at a particular club or within the game in general. We move on - end of.

Now who was that bloke we tried to sign on loan who sat in the train station (and eventually buggered off) whilst his agent tried to extort more money?

Depends if clubs are stupid enough to not include relegation clauses in player contracts.

Stating the obvious here, but it's easier for Fulham to offer big wages, because they've been paying higher in the Championship. Won't unbalance structure/harmony in the same way. They also have one of the world's richest men as an owner. Regardless, it's still stupid (if true) to offer Robinson 50k per week, from a business and footballing to perspective. Unless they genuinely think he's a top top Premier League full back, with this the only way to get him ahead of rivals.

Has anybody read The Secret Footballer book? The chapter about agents is very insightful and makes you think about them differently. Their main job is to help players with things like contracts and helping them find a new club if they are out of contract. Most of them are honest and do a decent job but will still try and find the best deal for their client, nothing wrong with that.

Fixed it for you😉

No different to any Salesperson working on commission - they aren’t interested in whether it’s making the most money for the company, it’s the most money into their commission cheque.
Really? They had some shit managers in their business then.....

What would you say to Fleck, JOC, Norwood, Enda, George, Didsy, McB, etc, who are all earning half his wages?
Job satisfaction .just think how any players come up from championship.only to be dropped to bench.thinking of norwood for instance .chris gave everyone there chanceand our players proved they where up for it utb
