All regulars on here are Blades.
I joined this site because of its intelligent debates. Our admin at the mo will be despairing at the way certain people have conducted themselves over the past couple of weeks. A joke and a push to far on that joke have led many to stop posting. Whilst claims have been made 'I broke no rules', you failed to see that the spirit of this forum has been damaged by your antics.
Have you noticed that a lot of the regulars have stopped posting recently?
A while before I joined you'd get people like Sheepdip, Rip, SF, Keenzy joining in debate.
I WOULD LIKE THEM TO COME BACK. Others like Swiss, Pinchy, LS26, Davepinder, Post not half as much as they used to.
So take a step back Olle, have a look, see if the forum was a better place without people stuck solid to their views and people occasionally recognised that they could change their opinion through debates on here without being shamed or people saying 'I told you so'. Let’s see if you can post without mentioning Sunshine, Clapper, Knocker etc. (if it sounds patronising, it’s not meant too).

Top post clint.

It's not people's opinions that are doing the damage, it's the way that they are expressing them.

Provocative does not equal thought-provoking. A bit less of the former and a lot more of the latter please.

len has a mysterious intermittent PC problem after a win, miraculously resolved by the time of the next defeat.

Olle may suffer similarly, he certainly hasn't been pontificating for the last few hours. My prediction is that he'll have a very good reason for not being on here, unrelated to the fact that we won.

Agree with that although I think there's been some cracking stuff on here since Speed took over - Gary Speed, so good he even makes the forum better :)

I've actually enjoyed the forum a great deal since Blackwell went. I don't know if it's because the overriding torpor that Blackwell invited has since left me and others, but do think the board has been fairly amusing and has had some good discussions on.

That said, and like I said in another thread this morning, the determination from some to repeat themselves until they bludgeon others into submission with the same views over and over again is highly irritating. As are the 'hilarious' nicknames such as Elipton, Cheap As Chips MkII and McWoobleGob that around three posters find to be side-splitting...

"Elpiton Quinn" is quite funny. Well, it was the first 3,000 times I heard it. I don't really understand the other two, particularly "Cheap As Chips". What were we supposed to do, spend money we don't have on a manager that doesn't want to come?

I,ve been noticed :D (and not for my poor spelling)

To be honest i haven't posted as much lately because i have been busy with our new born baby. I have to agree cool and also say top post. I have noticed poor number on the site lot lately as well but am not going to blame anyone for that especially olle because i find his posts entertaining and like to join in sometimes agree, sometimes don't. Sometime abuse may put people off i recently didn't like a few things said when you simply post what you have heard from someone. I am going to try and post more especially when i think we are in for a very interesting season. UTB

Is it OK to bludgeon others over and over again with the supposed attributes of certain players and insist that the contrary view of those others is born out of wilful blindness and lack of understanding rather than genuine and informed opinion?

I gave Quinn his nickname. It summed him up nicely at the time. When he stops, I will!

Tell me, do you stop it with the Monty and Quinn name calling when they have a good game?

And who does the first thing? I certainly don't/

These guys are supposed to be 'Professional Footballers' being paid very well for plying their trade and on a good contract with the club.
If they don't perform to an expected standard then the paying public have a right to be critical!
They have chosen their proffession, and they should have to take the brickbats as well as the plaudits!
If the paying public do not think they are value for money then they have the right to let them know it!
Their choice!
Don't feel sorry for them - I don't see any footballer offering part of his wage back when he hasn't performed or am I missing something!

It's improved exponentially, less nicknames and name calling. Back to banter and debate. Happy days.

I wouldn't expect anyone given the chance would turn down the oppertunity to be a footballer and get paid
That would be certain members of the paying public. Other members of the paying public(probably majority) would offer their support even if andthat is if they beleived they were not playing well.

am I missing something!

A question lots of us have asked about you;)

By abusing them?

Unfortunately its the way of the world !
Our media and National Press are excellent at building people up, putting them on a pedestal and then knocking them down at the first opportunity!
Stop feeling sorry for our pampered players!

(h)elpiton.. heh i get it now.. doooh..
there's been nowt much going on the last two weeks.. international break.. new season.. new manager.. nowt to talk about.. on the flip side may i request that this thread doesn't turn into some kind of anti olle rant (which is just as bad IMO).. let's move on

Does The Sun write your posts?

I tell as I see!
But I am a realist!
I do not go to watch the game in Red and White striped specs
I will applaud, good, fast moving entertaining play
What I cannot do is defend poor technique, players with no heart, no passion and no interest !
Quinn used to be a quality player, he isn't now whether it has been coached out of him by Blackwell I don't know but he is not the talent he once was !
Elpiton very aptly described his performances last season

Which is when I stopped reading :p

don't worry Trig me owd objectivist mucker. I'm still here and moaning. I managed to find some negatives from Saturday (posted in another thread) :D

Like some of the others, I'm not too far away either Cool - but thanks for the support. I post less nowadays cos I don't have the energy to bang my head against a brick wall anymore.

I have no axe to grind with Olle who has had the good grace to leave aside the rhetoric and discuss some concerns I have - I do have issues with those who feel endless criticism on here serves any useful purpose.

Posts on here that continually hammer the same point (Monty being perhaps the best example) won't make the slightest difference to performances - so what is the point of continually posting the same point? Does it make the poster feel better? Does the Forum offer therapy?

Whilst Fiery may be a realist in his views about the players and the club - I'd argue that his realism (and others - this isn't meant to be a pop at Fiery either) is limited in that this Forum can do nothing to address his concerns - and is therefore not the place to make such strong comment. Go tell the club about your concerns - don't be a keyboard warrior and whinge on here where nothing can come of it.

By all means discuss different points of view - but not to the point where it divides us. As others have said - it's often how things are said, rather than what is said. A bit of thought rather than pure emotion would perhaps be helpful.

There does seem to be an unanswered underlying question about the Forum though. What is it for?

Is it a lobby to make changes at BDTBL? - if so constructive criticism would be most valuable, but we need to beef up our profile and presence with the Club. Maybe more joint projects?

Is it an informal force to unite Blades in their support for the team? - if so we're failing badly if we're managing to fall into camps and bicker amongst ourselves.

Is it simply a place where people with a shared interest in the Blades can share thoughts and feelings? - if so posters need to be aware of this when they post as too many posts are too heated and divisive - and thereby lessen the quality of discussion and therefore the Forum itself. The creation of labels and camps has equally served to exclude people.

Or is this Forum simply another outlet for the mindless to spout their drivel?

Until we answer this question we'll never really be sure what kinds of post or discussion are acceptable or appropriate.

Like many, I joined here rather than anywhere else due to this Forum's thoughtfulness and quality. If we continue too far down our current path we become like too many others.

good post but i think it can be more than one of those things at once if not all although would rather not the last one! It can be all things to all people and I think it would be a shame to have to label the forum as being for only one thing.

You're spot on though and I think most of us came here for reasoned debate and at the very least civility and not ridiculous one-upmanship and points scoring of the nature of some posts recently.
