What was your worst take ahead of last season?

A couple of mine that are a bit painful to look back on:
- I thought Ravel Morrison would make ‘The Duffy role’ his own and become a £40mil player.

- I thought Billy would get about 10 goals with relative ease.

- And I Thought that Bash, Baldock and Lunny was going to be the worst right hand combo the prem had seen since Roy Keane tried to punch Shearer.

Callum Robinson to be our player of the year, woof.

I thought we'd all be used to VAR after a few months and that it wouldn't really be the subject of much discussion beyond that point (to be fair, I'm not sure anyone expected it to be so badly implemented in the Premier League after being fairly smooth in Europe and at a World Cup).

I said City would win the league by 7-8 points as I couldn't see Liverpool maintaining the levels of the previous season.

VAR performed so far below my expectations it was and must be for many unbelievable.
United as a team performed way above expectation but I was still filled with rage when we didn't get Europe however I'm much happier we missed out the way we did than how Wolves/Spurs will miss out.

Went to Chesterfield and Barnsley pre-season, liked Callum straight away, thought he would go a long way.

Shame he couldn’t stop being a winger, hope WBA give us a wedge for him.

1. Final league position. I think 90% of us thought we might just get relegated or scrape safety by no more than 5 points.

2. Callum Robinson was going to be the main starter in attack all season and our ticket to safety. Probably lose him at the end of the season to someone like Everton for £30million.

3. Thought we'd pick up 75%+ of our points at home and be awful on the road.

4. Work rate, leadership and a great formation/system goes a lot further in the Prem. than I expected.

Thought we would be no match for most of the premier league teams.but matched and outplayed the majority

I also thought Callum Robinson was going to be amazing. I daren't look it up but I'm pretty sure I said he was going to get bought by a big 6 club in January or something.

This is why I don't make predictions.

EDIT: Looked it up, had to see how wrong I was, turns out I was sort of right!

I'll tell thee naa for a start, Robinson will play for a top 10 Premier League club, hopefully that's us.

He's unbelievable. Different kind of player but Premier League level, if Leicester or summat had signed him everyone would be raving about him.

Yet again thought Basham would be playing above his level and get found out.

Thought there was no chance we’d even try overlapping centre halves because we’d get picked off.

Always thought we’d stay up, but only finish 15th tops.

Thought Norwood would be our player of the season hands down.

After Basham gave the ball away against Leicester for Vardy's goal, I felt like it'd be a season of being competitive but always coming up a bit short with those sorts of mistakes commonplace, also thought we'd concede a fair few goals. Not to be! 😁

Thought we'd go straight back down if I'm totally honest. Not bottom but definitely bottom 3. Thought we'd have the kind of season Brighton had, a few decent results but ultimately not good enough (I realise they stayed up but you know what I'm saying).

Was happy with Henderson, Egan, O'Connell, Baldock and Stevens. Wasn't sure Bash would step up.

Thought Norwood would do OK, other than that midfield was a worry. Wasn't sure Fleck would step up was positive Lundstrum wouldn't thought PL was a step too far for Duffy what with him only playing 70 mins in the champ.

Thought we would be dreadful up front. Was pretty confident Sharp and McG would be nowhere near good enough. Wasn't really sold on Mousset when we bought him but, was very happy with McBurnie

I predicted 14th with a good cup run. I thought I was being slightly giddy with that.

Mine, losing money in the process to Pinchy

Think this might be the bet opening I’m looking for. Sharp and Duffy to both start a dozen or more games, and us to stay up. All three have to happen for me to win. Same cash as last time?

This was over really before it even began.

I thought we’d get stuffed ten minutes before every match. Then think we could beat Real Madrid if we just had a striker by half time.

I also thought that Norwhich would get there arse handed to them every fucking week.......so glad I was right on this one

I assume there are a few Senior Blades on here and some may have done the top ten predictor - which was predictions for the post lock down results and scores.

Fortunately I'm not a gambler as every one of my predictions was wrong and I came 39th and bottom of the pile!

I thought Basham would struggle.

I thought Morrison would thrive.

I thought that not starting many (if any) of our new signings for a lengthy period might cost us as I believed our Championship team needed quite a bit of strengthening to stay up.

I thought it was probably 50/50 whether we'd stay up.

I thought Verrips was a reyt signing.

I thought Kean Bryan may have a part to play.

Apart from that I got everything right.

Callum Robinson and Bash. Thought one would struggle and the other would thrive, only I had them the other way round.

I never thought we’d do so well pre-lockdown, but I thought we’d stay up.
The big one for me - I genuinely believed we would come back from lockdown, the fittest, most focused and sharpest team in the league and blow all our opponents away who’d been slacking on furlough.

Thought we'd do ok and manage a few results, with Cup type battling, but get proper batterings by some of the big clubs.

I was listening back to the Best and Worst pod again yesterday and you really seem to carry the burden of this prediction heavily!

I think after he tore up those friendlies we all thought he’d be our own South Yorkshire peroxide-Pele.

Even Nostradamus would’ve struggled to see him nesh his way down to 6th choice striker.

Tell you what, this new Callum Robinson that’s joined the squad in preseason looks like he’s going to be the player of the year.

I thought we would come straight back down.
I was then disappointed a bit with our form after lockdown a couple of good games but more games in which we looked poor.

Always confident we’d stay up quite easily....expected us to finish just below middle....so wasn’t that far away.
Thought Calum Robinson and Luke Freeman would step up and be our main men.
Didn‘t think Basham or Lundstrum would be able to cope in the PL.
Thought Ravel would play more...always used as sub though.....when we are desperate and need a spark

Expected VAR to be implemented better and show it self to be a relative success.....still think will eventually.

Could be the pacey forward option we've been waiting for. Loves a tackle, too, or so I've heard.
