Outgoing? John Lunsdtram

Pay him £40k pw is £2m a season, find a replacement that knows our "unique" system and it will cost a least £10m + wages, and then it will take at least 6 months to fit in, ala Osborn or not yet ala Berge. Its braindead to let him go with such little cover, 4 weeks prior to a new season.

If Lundstram thinks he can get better elsewhere off you fuck
OK but we have a year of this
If he is still here at the start of the new season, dont pick him, because he wont bust a gut and risk injury, simple fact of life.
Whereas with a release clause he's playing for a move and doesn't need to worry about injury because he's under contract. Unless we buy at least 2 more midfielders he is still a necessary part of the match day squad and midfield alongside defence are the least demanding areas for improvement.

This is a player whos been patient and busted a gut to get into the first team, scored and set up some important goals for us and put in some solid performances to match this season. The lad is no pele but been one of our best performers this season.

I cant believe all the hate hes getting. he, like anyone else has wants to be paid what he thinks hes worth. We have the lowest wage bill in league and are expecting Players to push for europe. He’s spent years being underpaid whilst our team is massively over performing. Now in a year where hes played a huge role in our most successful season in recent history on relatively fuck all wages he wants a fair share of the prize. Hes been out performing players on over x10 his wages.

I know we need to run the club sensibly but he has every right to try and hold out for a wage that reflects low-end premier league and not low end championship.

Some of you have very short memories. spent half the season licking his arse and now hes shit and would be happy if we get £3mill for him. Very Useful player, scored 5 in 35 from midfield and is defensively solid. Should be asking 10+. Lad has given 100% for the club

Pay him £40k a week, £2m a season, then 10 other squad members demand the same that's another £20m or at least one major signing that doesn't happen. That's brain dead!

That's maintaining 10 other squad members who cannot command the average salary for a second season running in a top 10 PL team, that's the formula for relegation.

I think people forget that he’ll very likely have been one of the lowest paid members of the squad last season. We signed him to be a back-up player in the Championship. He’ll have probably been at the lower end of our earners. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he might even have been paid less than say Kieron Freeman, Moore, Clarke and Duffy when he joined. Sure, Lundstram will no doubt have had a contract where his wage goes up a certain percentage with promotion – but so will everyone else’s. Then there’ll be the new signings to fill out the squad – people like Osborn, L.Freeman, Jagielka, Callum Robinson, who probably arrived all on more wages.

It’s pure speculation from me, but I image he probably feels that a bumper contract elsewhere will compensate somewhat for feeling underpaid here – and let’s be honest, for what he provided last season he probably was underpaid, given the likelihood of what he’s on. At the same time, by not signing a new deal he’s probably done himself out of a chunk of earnings, so of course he could have affected his own situation. It seems like a somewhat unfortunate scenario where you can kind of understand Lundstram pitching for a high wage, and completely understand our offer to reward him for stepping up (though short of giving him more than say an average wage for our first-teamers).

So you think Wilder is taking us down next season?

Which is what I said. JL might think he deserves that, but 10 others and more importantly their agents will think the same. JL was offered a contract, he thinks he's worth more, we can't pay it for the reasons I've outlined.

So spurs have sold a reserve with a handful of premier league games for them to Southampton for £12m? Meaning spurs have bought the Dane for £8m? Deal of the decade, if right

deal of the decade .....are you for real ....I’ve seen milk turn quicker than Holjberg ....£20 mill for a plodder ..Southampton must be laughing their tits off ..

No hatred from me

I look at it realistically. Any player that doesn’t want to be here whether that be Lunny or Messi, get shut. It’s the players prerogative, but no point hanging around. He won’t sign then he needs to go before his contract runs down and he walks for nowt.

Personally, I have no time for any player at the club who won’t sign and thinks he can get better elsewhere. That also applies to Egan if he won’t sign. Wilder won’t stand for it and I’m behind him 100% The club always comes first, not the player and as Wilder also says, he will do whatever he needs to do to protect the clubs interests

If a
They probably have and the players agent will know all about their interest.
Lundstram, possibly does not want more than other player in the squad just an assurance that he will play.
Playing our current system if he had more pace he would fit in at right side midfield, or a greater range of passing slot into Norwood / Berge role, but he does not and will therefore be moved on as we need someone with pace at right midfield
If a club had put in an offer for him , why would we need to put him on our transfer list ?
Strikes me no club has put in an offer and we've had to transfer list him to drum up interest , which looks bleak for us getting a decent fee.

Also, we were hardly crapping money before COVID-19 and now we will have less to spend which we have to do wisely. That contract has been on the table for long enough and if it was still on the table after COVID-19 happened then he should have signed it.

Wilder has always said there is a limit to what we can offer.

Wilder took Lundstram from nowhere and put him in the Prem.

Lundstram has the strength and the stamina to contribute - and he has 2 good feet.

He owes Wilder everything, and he has just spat in his face for 20 pieces of silver.

How soon do these guys forget?

I think you are missing the point a little, without us he would never have played above league one/ lower championship. He now thinks he is better than the club. No doubt he has ability but attitude is everything......I refer you back to Mark Duffy who I am sure has some regrets.

The thing what riles me more than anything is that the main person whats shown him loyalty is wilder.. if it was down to us fans on a whole he would have been shifted instead of a load of others.. coutts, evans, duffy?

Now the shoes on the other foot theres no loyalty.. i hope hes on the transfer list and i hope he goes asap and does nowt elsewhere!

Its as simple as the old saying 'dont bite the hand that feeds you'

Currently coming off 11points in 10 games, finishing with 3 consecutive defeats and no Hendo. When we get the new signings, time for them to fit in, harder if they are not English speaking - the 12th Sept does not give them long to get up to speed. Then there is Covid19 how to gel new signings when everyone is isolating- it is not going to be easy.

No hate from me, he’s was very good for us at the start of the season and scored some vital goals. He did drop off towards the end of the season and did appear to be a bit mardy. CW has always made it clear that if players don’t want to be here he’ll not stand in their way and we seem to be there now. Lundstram may go on to develop further or he may have already peaked who knows but it has seemed quite clear for a while now it won’t be with us.
The strength of the club is team spirit and togetherness so if he doesn’t feel he is part of that now then he goes with my best wishes.

In fairness mate every team will face the same problem

He’s owes Wilder fk all ...Knill has worked hard on Lundstram last pre season and convinced Wilder to try him in the prem ..( and I know that as a absolute fact from someone deep inside the club) ..we will make a nice profit on him ..he’s done his bit for us .and he’s just a person looking his future ..we will make 10 times what we bought him for ..so we are the winners ...let’s move on and not judge someone on media reports but actual facts ..

A lot of our players have signed new deals.
Do you honestly believe that Lunny was only offered a low end Championship wage?

Hallelujah brother, the debate about a player being entitled to ask for more in his own self interest is had every season on this forum. As a fan of my football club I could care less about it, I just want the players in our shirt fighting for the same cause and not the quibbling over wages to the last penny. If he has been transfer listed as reported he has quite clearly pissed Wilder and the Club off and can do one unless he turns back on his Self-centered stupid demands.

Have you ever seen Holjberg play ..his main attribute is moaning at the ref when’s he late on a tackle ..again ...let’s have this chat again when he languishing in Spurs reserves in January eh....shocking buy

Rewind to the game at the Lane where he royally took the piss from minute 1.

He has been offered another fucking contract and thrown it back in the faces of the people like me who work hard and paid for him to have this chance.

Some of us remember where we come from.

you know nothing about the ins and outs of his contract offer ...nothing ....l..so he hasn’t thrown anything back into anybody’s face ..he’s a pro footballer who has done well for us..we will make bundle on his purchase price if we sell him...how can that be an issue is beyond me ..so unless you know him personally how on earth can you say what you have said ..do you know his upbringing as well ....er ..I doubt it ...
