State of the art academy should be top priority.
Would go a long way to securing the future of the club by competing far better for young players as well as developing local talent.
But seeing as that seems a way off (not sure why) the kop and tekkin' them bleedin' poles out.

Not sure if you’ve seen the old design but the original plan was to incorporate steeper rake at the back, a modern spacious enclosed concourse and it could still incorporate safe standing. We should copy what Liverpool are doing with their Anfield Road end by building on the back of what’s already there.
If you build in the back then the Kop can remain open throughout.....less hassle/ upheaval for lifelong Blades.

No one has explained what a totally new stand brings
The positives are more office/ banqueting space underneath BUT don’t think we need that as the new South stand will double our current executive facilities.
However the negatives are poor value for money....would be somexpensive before we even start building with the loss of income with a massively reduced capacity.
This “let’s build it properly” comment is so idealistic.....it’s easy to want it when it’s someone elses money.

Liverpool have just finished building on the back of their main stand and hope to start work at the back of their away end (Anfield Road)
I’d be surprised if their fans have criticised their plans saying the whole stand should be demolished and re-built from scratch.

Their stands were already of a higher standard to be bolted to.
Not a concrete slab on a mound of earth.

You can’t compare the Kop to Liverpool’s expansions or any other club for that matter. Who else has a stand built on a spoil heap and are looking to keep it?

The positives of knocking it down is more legroom, steeper stand so better view and better facilities. We could even build the Kop further back once the land issue is sorted, giving us more options to extend/rebuild the Lane End and John Street.

Yep... thought of this as well...
effectively sliding the ground to the Shoreham end. Would have options to extend the South towards Shoreham so the Hotel is not in the way like in the existing design where the new tier is truncated at the Lane end.
The seat layout on John St would need to be replanted though as well as re-centering the Finial / clock.
Maybe pie in the sky, but could be done in increments.

Had quinoa for the first time in my life this week. It wasn't really a conscious choice. We'd ordered several little tapas dishes at this pub out in Derbyshire that had been recommended to us for it's "unusual" tapas. I thought it was cous-cous - I said to our Petnunia - "What's this?" and she said she thought it was quinoa. The landlord chimed in and confirmed it was quinoa. Only thing is, Petunia and I pronounced it "Quinn-o-a" whereas the landlord pronounced it (correctly) as "Kin-wah".

From now on my life is changed. It's "Kin-wah" all the way for me - and I can't wait till they start putting it in Pukka pies so I can show off a bit more with my knowledge of how to pronounce it.

With it being Tapas, please tell me you didn’t order it with a nice bottle of “Rio-Ja”, else I may just be about to blow your mind?

What talent is it that you’re thinking we’re losing out on?
Any investment in the academy will take at least 5-6 years to see any real fruition and while I’d love to see young local players coming through the current system of picking up those who are spat out of Cat1 academies seems more than suitable at the moment. Once the training ground and Stadia have been done then great, but we’d need to be in the PL for another couple of seasons at least.

It might take 10, 20 or even 30 years, but at least we’d have more options to develop the Lane in the future. If we stick with the currents plans it would make further developments far more difficult.

I’m hoping the Prince will take a long term view rather than what is cheap and easy for the short term.

Agree sounds sensible planning for the future by building a new Kop a distance from the pitch, then we can edge the rest of the stadium closer and will then have plenty of room to build a much bigger Bramall Lane stand. Could look really good and there would be enough space for a nearer 50K stadium.

However I’m now getting memories of Molineux in the mid 80’s?

I remember entering their away end behind the goal and seeing a really strange set up.
The home fans were behind the same goal as the away fans, separated by a fence.
Two stands behind the other goal and down the length were empty and basically derelict (like the corner bit at Leppings Lane end).
Then they had that fancy new stand but it was miles from the pitch...looked really odd.

That forward planning has worked well for Wolves as they now have a decent stadium.
Lets hope we don’t get relegated otherwise we could end up with a half completed mish mash of a stadium for decades.

I think that was just speculation when Blades staff were spotted on the land.

It looks like it will be the academy site.

‘The Yorkshire Post reports that this would involve separating the two. The old RAF Norton Aerodrome site has been earmarked as the new location for the academy.’

We're a Premier League club in one of the country's largest cities. Sheffield should have a Cat 1 academy and it should be United that offers the best facilities for kids and young players in the region.
At some point we'll go down again which is why putting something permanent in place for young players should be a prime objective and would also be a fitting legacy for what Wilder has achieved with the club.

I agree that it would be nice, but that's exactly it, it would be nice. It won't generate any significant returns for us for many years, and will cost a significant amount of money.
Now isn't the time, unless we've found £50 million quid under the bed, and if we have then that should be spent on players. If we're taking a loan, then the stadium.

From what you've posted, it sounds more like a vanity project because others have done it, rather than focusing on what it's producing against what outlay.
