First signing must be Brooks

I love him but I want to build our strike force around McBurnie.
I dont think Brooks could play up top with Big Ol and I dont see him fitting into our midfield 3.
That leaves the famous number 10 slot/ Duffy role. We do play it at times but its usually when we bring on another striker and Dids drops a bit deeper.

My main concern is his injuries though.
For less than £10m he might be worth the risk, but at probably double that the money should really be spent elsewhere.

I think Brooks could play off McBurnie very similar to how he played off clarke, dropping a little deeper and using his mobility to run off flicks/link up etc.

Would be absolutely ideal to have someone that mobile around him on a regular basis, McBurnie wins everything and is linking play up better than ever.

£5m max for someone who’s played a handful of games in the last 2 seasons. Wages would need to fit into our structure.

Personally I don’t think he’s what we need but for a bargain price I’d have him.

5m 🤣 Jesus christ on a bike you have league 1 strikers being touted at more than that.

So you seriously think a real quality Welsh international footballer that is far better attacking wise than anything we have in midfield.

We dont have anyone like him in our team and our team is crying out for someone like Brooks who can run at the opposition and cause carnage.

Just like Nathan Redmond did against us yesterday and that is what we lack.

No point in even talking about Saint Maximin who would never come anyway as he plays for a big club and is loved by the fans and the only way he would leave is to a top 4 team.

But that is type of player we need to go for someone with the pace and flair and ability that we miss.

I genuinely think people forget he was pretty much a squad player when he left us as he just didn't fit into the system well. It wasn't down to injuries, he just wasn't right to fit into our system. We can't afford a luxury floating player in our side, it doesn't work. We need all 10 outfielders to close the ball down and put a shift in. I think the love for Brooks is understandable as always had a nice trick in him and what he did against Wednesday will never be forgotten, but sadly he isn't what we need right now.

I'm not saying he's only worth £5m, on principle I'd only pay them £5m for him. Relegated club, hard up for money, hardly played this season. We'll have a sell on clause that will give us a discount as well. Fuck em' they took advantage of us being financially in the shit, we should do the same.

Bit like Billy Sharp at Scunthrope 😆

Although think we actually payed more than we sold him.

I'd be quite excited if we did manage to sign him, but like others are saying, I can't see us being able to afford him. I suspect that Benrahma would be better, and probably cheaper, if he doesn't get snapped up by the big dogs.

DB has played 9 times this season:

Bournemouth 0 - Palace 2
Wolves 1 - Bournemouth 0
Bournemouth 1 - Newcastle 4
Man Utd 5 - Bournemouth 2
Bournemouth 0 - Spurs 0
Bournemouth 4 - Leicester 1
Man City 2 - Bournemouth 1
Bournemouth 0 - Southampton 2
Everton 1 - Bournemouth 3

He helped them get 7 points from a possible 27 available (26%). Before he’d returned for them, they’d got 27 points from 87 (31%). They were better without him.
Wasn't he subbed st half time for that Leicester win too ?

Cant believe people are mugging him off. We lack creative flair. He would improve our squad (first 11) so much. We played our best footy when we had the duffy system and we should be aiming to re-impliment it next season with didzy/swift or even brooks type player sitting in that position.
It's not known how he's recovered from his injuries but also had a lot of time out for Bournemouth since they brought him in. Two injuries to his ankle would be a concern if you're spending a lot of money on him as is there a long term weakness there. The way his plays would dictate that problems in that area are likely to be easy to pick up.
He also couldn't wait to get away, and while we made the best of his exit thanks to the money we secured, there clearly is no loyalty there towards us.
As you pointed out, we no longer use the number 10 position, he's never played that role since he left us, and he's been playing more of a wide man, which we don't use.
You'd suspect he'd be much more than our current wage bill would allow, so you're bringing back a 23 year old kid who's been mainly out injured for the past 18 months from a team that's just been relegated on more money than those that stayed and got us to where we are now.
At 23, is he ready to be our talismanic play maker and will he just fuck off again if we turn him around and get his career back on track?

Oh, and stop nicking my profile pictures. ;)

What's not to like about the lad, we resurrected his career, and he jumped ship at the first chance, undoubtedly talented but not for me, we're not a stepping stone for players anymore, more to the point I can't imagine wilder having any interest in bringing him back

I like him as a player but I don't know where we'd play him, unless he played in the 'McGoldrick' role alongside either McBurnie or Mousset. It's highly unlikely though. Like others have said, not a strong enough work ethic for us, unless he's improved that side of his game drastically since he left.

If we want former players that play for Bournemouth, I'd rather we went for Ramsdale.

He played 30 games in his first season and got a young player of the year nomination then he had the ankle issue. If that's solved injuries not really a worry.

If Brooks hadn't played for us i doubt anyone would be talking about him. If he can prove his fitness this season then fair enough but you'll be looking at £20million ish for an injury prone player who doesn't really fit our system.

Can't we just have him back in case we draw the pigs in the Cup?

Brooks! Brooks will tear you apart again!

No thanks! He had his time and blew us off for Bournemouth, and I said at the time he would regret it! He hasn't really done much since leaving either. He's a bit lightweight for Prem imo.
He didn't " blow us off " for Bournemouth. An offer was accepted by united to enable wilder to finance the squad that won promotion! Where do you think that money came from, down the back off mcabes sofa ? In the process he was offered regular prem football and 10 x wage increase . Cant think why hed go....

Why would he come back though when we won't offer him regular football or the same wages?

It's a non starter imo

I think he accepted a deal and then we did, the money was then used to rebuild the squad. No issue with him going to better his money and career options but we owe him nothing. We are now a better option for him than Bournemouth so he may take a cut in wages to come back, but he’ll likely leave us again at the first opportunity should it arise.
Personally I always wondered if Wilder really rated him for us or saw him as a luxury we couldn’t afford.

Who is to say we cant offer him the same wages and if he came back of.course he would be a regular starter he is a quality player and better than what we have attacking wise currently if we can get him it would be a no brainer.

Tried and tested, affordable, one of the sparks we desperately need and now surely looking for a return both to the blades and to the top flight.
Any other comparable expenditure must surely be more risky.
Absolutely not for me
