First signing must be Brooks

Great player but I’d be worried about his injuries and cost, I think he’s a luxury we can’t afford.

I'm interested in your point about him being affordable? How much, realistically, would you be prepared to pay Bournemouth for him and and him in salary?

Unless your answers are north of £40m and £75k/week (and feel that Utd can indeed afford both), I'm afraid your point may prove to be incorrect.

Personally, I feel there are better value options that would into the current formation better than Brooks

£5m max for someone who’s played a handful of games in the last 2 seasons. Wages would need to fit into our structure.

Personally I don’t think he’s what we need but for a bargain price I’d have him.

Money tree signing.
We haven't got a money tree :(

Played all across the midfield for Bournemouth last season in a high pressing, high energy side. His development was incredible really - especially out of possession and in deeper midfield areas. The value this summer might be in bringing in one or two inside forward types; or playing with Berge and a high energy defensive midfielder and a number ten in front, rather than purchasing one/two out and out strikers. If Brooks is over the botched ankle operation and not too costly, why couldn't he be one of them? It's telling how once he got a degree of fitness back and started impacting games Bournemouth's results improved.

Would rather someone sign him for stupid money and get the sell on.

We've already got a striker/midfielder/winger that doesn't really fit that we don't know what to do with, no point spaffing £20m+ on another.

DB has played 9 times this season:

Bournemouth 0 - Palace 2
Wolves 1 - Bournemouth 0
Bournemouth 1 - Newcastle 4
Man Utd 5 - Bournemouth 2
Bournemouth 0 - Spurs 0
Bournemouth 4 - Leicester 1
Man City 2 - Bournemouth 1
Bournemouth 0 - Southampton 2
Everton 1 - Bournemouth 3

He helped them get 7 points from a possible 27 available (26%). Before he’d returned for them, they’d got 27 points from 87 (31%). They were better without him.

He played 30 last year and got PFA young player of the year nominated.

With this weird covid market and October transfer window deadline I am going into the summer with absolutely no clue as to what our budget is or what the market is like but if Brooks goes anywhere it will be to an established club who demand European football imo

He looked nothing like until the Spurs game hence "degree of fitness". I thought they were very good in the Man City game despite defeat too . Have a look what they think of him on the Bournemouth board - he's the one they don't want to lose.

It all depends on the ankle. There seems to be a perception on here that he's made of biscuit; the reality is he had a tiny procedure that a surgeon messed up. If he's obtainable for low transfer fee and over he ankle trouble he'll be the bargain of the summer.

He’s on £50K a week at Bournemouth I’ll pass

50k a week is peanuts in this league if you expect us to keep competing and getting players in on 20-30k a week then there is something not right.

We did amazing overall this season and exceeded expectations but the lack of quality from the bench especially killed our chances in lockdown the lack of any real quality from the bench especially stood out a mile.

He can and will do better than us , at the moment , let`s know our place , we are still rising .

Think Brooks is very talented but a luxury player with early career injury issues.

He potentially offers positives, think he’d be good at Man Utd playing on their wing.
Also think he’d be great for us as a substitute who we can bring on when we need to take a risk and go for it.

However Wilder has been so successful with us because unlike other teams
he puts a lot of work in how we perform as a unit “without the ball”.

From what I’ve seen when out of possession Brooks was poor and he’s weak in the tackle lacking strength.

I’d buy him if it was 10 million but mainly use him as sub.
Of course his value is much higher than that. He’s a risk that we can’t afford and IMHO his style isn’t currently suited to our team.

No chance. I reckon Carl pilchard from Wexley Rovers Dinamo is the way to go. I’ve heard that although he has no technique and can’t run pass people he knows how to run round a football pitch.
Gerim signed up!!!!

Tried and tested, affordable, one of the sparks we desperately need and now surely looking for a return both to the blades and to the top flight.
Any other comparable expenditure must surely be more risky.
We're crying out for a player who runs at the defence. Fleck does it in flashes. Luke Freeman can do it but doesn't play. Only way I can see him fitting our style is if he played the McGoldrick role. Dropping deep off the striker. Can he be consistent in that role though?

We neither play wingers or the number 10 ( Duffy role) so he wouldn't fit into the team.

Need a creative but athletic midfielder, goal scorers up front, better backup wing backs and a backup for Bash, also either Hendo come back, or a new keeper

I don't think the 3-5-2 will last forever. We tweaked it this season to tighten up the midfield with a flat 3. We need to evolve, but I don't know how.

With better players, we could implement the "Duffy role" again. With our current squad, that's asking for trouble and to use a Steve Nichol phrase - we'd get "annihilated". Most teams in the PL play with 3 forwards - central striker and 2 wingers. This would mean us dropping to a flat back 4 though and ripping up the 3x CBs that have proved so crucial to us.

Unless your answers are north of £40m and £75k/week (and feel that Utd can indeed afford both), I'm afraid your point may prove to be incorrect.

No way he's costing anybody £40m.

Let's all be honest here, he's a fantastic player and could turn a game in a moment, more than any of our current squad could single handedly, and so is an exciting option to have.

But:
Has he had recent injury struggles? Yes. We'd need significant reassurance through a medical.

Will he get attention from elsewhere? Yes.
Will elsewhere offer more money? Most likely.

If we had a shout, I'd love us to go for him, but we'd need to train him to track back and engrain that in him.
There'll be attention from elsewhere, mind.

Would rather someone sign him for stupid money and get the sell on.

That's a fair point about the funds, too.

the relentless obsession with former players continues with united fans.

It's about time we looked at bringing Brown back, if we could just get him in the positions he found himself in for 7 months of his career we could get 20 goals a season out of him
That would be a hell of a good goals return for a keeper

Cant believe people are mugging him off. We lack creative flair. He would improve our squad (first 11) so much. We played our best footy when we had the duffy system and we should be aiming to re-impliment it next season with didzy/swift or even brooks type player sitting in that position.

I love him but I want to build our strike force around McBurnie.
I dont think Brooks could play up top with Big Ol and I dont see him fitting into our midfield 3.
That leaves the famous number 10 slot/ Duffy role. We do play it at times but its usually when we bring on another striker and Dids drops a bit deeper.

My main concern is his injuries though.
For less than £10m he might be worth the risk, but at probably double that the money should really be spent elsewhere.

While Brooks would be a decent creative player (and we do need to strengthen in this area) and we all know he has talent....he is too injury prone for the fee he would command.

He also doesnt love the Blades. He f*cked off as soon as he got chance.

No thanks! He had his time and blew us off for Bournemouth, and I said at the time he would regret it! He hasn't really done much since leaving either. He's a bit lightweight for Prem imo.

Folks....move on, he certainly did.
We don’t have the strength or quality in the side to carry anyone who’s not prepared to work hard to win the ball back out of possession.
The possession stats have been a worry at times, and though you might get away with it against the biggest sides it’s not something we can continue against sides like Southampton and Leicester.
Until we can find players able to keep the ball better at the top of the pitch we simply cannot afford a single player who won’t work hard to get back into position and try and win the ball back effectively.

This is one of my issues with Robinson btw, he might run about but there’s actually very little proper effort to win the ball.
