23k worrying? I'd be delighted with that.

For a new manager with ticket offers?

Nah, I'd find that worrying despite the oppo.

1) Attendance somewhere between 21,000 - 23,000.
2) A hopeful atmosphere with a tinge of apprehension.
3) A warm welcome for Gary Speed.
4) Blades to win 2-1.
5) More passing, more thoughtul in possession - but with mistakes.
6) Jean Calve to be a revelation.
7) Ched Evans to score.
8) Attacking right back - see point 6.
9) Stephen Jordan not match fit. Andy Taylor will play....
10) Gary Sinclair to call Steve Simonsen "Simon Stevenson" again

23,000 would be a brilliant attendance, not worrying.
Cannot see anywhere near that.

I'll state these aren't expectations just things I'd like to see.

A more exciting style of play, with better movement and width to the team.
Chedwyn to grab a brace would be nice.
Use of a winger rather than two forwards in that position, in other words use Yeates on the left or right rather than Cressy.
I'd like to see if we do play Ward in the middle.
Also look forward to seeing Calve and Jordan in the Red White.

1) a worrying attendance around the 23k mark Hmmm. Probably around that, although there might be a few more.
2) a generally apathetic atmosphere Pretty much like most of the past twelve months, although there might be a better feel now Blackwell has gone.
3) a subdued welcome for Gary Speed I can't see him being greeted like the messiah, but you never know.
4) a solid Blades 2-0 win I've stopped predicting wins for us. I now go expecting us to get tonked and managing something akin to pleasant surprise if we aren't.
5) more passes from Sheffield United players in the first 45 minutes than seen in KB's full tenure We saw that last week on the telly against Boro. As long as we get some penetration, which kind of sums my weekedn up in more ways than one.
6) Leon Britton running the show He's supposed to be the man for this. Let's hope so.
7) Ched Evans to score Don't get your hopes up. Might be worth a spare quid at the bookies, but no more.
8) an attacking right back Yeah, right.
9) a competent left back Taylor has shown flashes of promise and also managed to instill fear like I've not known in a long time in me, often withen a few seconds of each other. I hope he can come good, or be replaced pronto.
10) Gary Sinclair to give himself a hernia getting too excited when announcing "Gary Speed's red and white wizards" He can get overexcited watching somebody run down some steps, so he'll be wetting himself in excitement already.

My main concerns are not being able to drink much before the match, because Mrs SV is working at night and I'm not allowed to be shitfaced and on the settee while Small SV is under my supervision. When we played QPR I was well oiled, having been in the pub since half eleven, and while it was certainly shit it also had an element of very black comedy about it. I almost fell asleep watching the Boro match on telly, sober that time, but I fear that Saturday might be too much to bear after only a couple of pints. I hope I'm wrong.

Dont think the attendance will be any where near 23,000k.It will still be a subdued atmosphere, even with Blackwell gone and Speed in charge.Preston to get everyone behind the ball, frustrating the Blades.Keith Treacy to break away and Preston score. The natives become restless, wondering who to have a go at now.[Probably Sam Ellis]The rest of the game played out to atmosphere on par with a chess match in a library.Blades equalise with five minutes to go and sneak a 1-1 draw. That cunt that sits behind me in block G sniggering and telling anyone who'lle listen we were wrong to sack Blackwell, same as we were to sack Robson.

personally I don't care about most of it. I would be happy just to see the team doing the right things together. I don't want freak results..

A referee-assisted win for the Whinos at Wembley:mad:

Sorry, no one cares about your make believe sport.

Dingledog, plz remove this off-topicker from the thread plz.

My expectaions for the match: nothing.

If Speed can turn that rabble around in less than a week then he can walk on water. Not only are we a team/squad lacking any flair, real quality and pace but we are at rock bottom in terms of confidence. He has to get them to believe in themselves, but that won't happen over night.

So the 'clappers' have got their excuses ready already. If we get beat then the 'clappers' will be saying oh we need to give Speed more time. After the international break he'll have had more time with the players and maybe made a few signings. He'll start to turn things around in a few weeks.

Blackwells reign has left me expecting very little. What I would like to see at the game is different:

- warm welcome for Speed. He is the right choice in my book. I hope the fans really get behind him.
- i'd like to see us win of course. not really fussed about how it comes, but some points on the baord would be nice.
- players playing with a bit of confidence
- some decent passing moves and a mixture of direct and on the deck football
- Evans and Cresswell to score, Britton and Ertl to play well together in CM and Ward and Yeates to look dangerous.
- no goals conceded and a decent back 4 display.

I'm not expecting miracles and if he addresses some of the issues above then it is progress. Of course we'll be looking for a result at home to an average team (despite how bad we are). Don't worry though my red and white spectacle wearing friends no matter how good it is I'll find something to moan about. And if it bad, then I'll make it out to be 10 times worse than what it is. Regardless I'll me moaning and groaning about something (to do with Saturday) over the international break!?

1) An attendance of around 20,000 tops
2) A good atmosphere (we always sing when were winning)
3) A warm welcome for Speedo
4 A solid Blades win of 3-0 given the right team selection (ie No Monty or Quinn)
5) Certainly more passes than the entire Blackwell era
6) Leon Britton to prove a point - I haven't seen anything of promise yet!)
7) Ched Evans - see point 6
8)Jean Calve was in Mr Blackwells own words a quality player - thats probably why he didn't sign him - Let us be the judge!
9) Only if Taylor is sitting in the stands as far from the pitch as possible
10) Tom Hark to the fore

Sunshine Band welcome in this thread.

Many thanks for the invitation Houso :D

:gallop::gallop::gallop:

I would like to see

Players looking for the ball from throw ins

Free kicks and corners at least going near our players

More than two shots on target

And just generally a bit more zip about our play. We tend to look a bit pedestrian

oooo, if we're on 'wants'. Can we please have an end to the friggin Blackwell kickoff tactic

Have to say I've never seen us do that, but I'm not as big a Blade as you.

Dont think the attendance will be any where near 23,000k.

I agree, the crowd will be considerably less than 23,000,000 :p

21,000 would be a decent crowd, hopefully we will see some decent passing football and the crowd I'm sure will respond positively. I'm sure that no-one expects us to be silky smooth straightaway so I think we'll be patient, which can only help the team. Hoofing on the other hand won't go down well...

Sunshine Band welcome in this thread.

as Fiery said thanks :)

hold your horses :gallop:

make your mind up sunshine. You invite the sunshine bad and then you don't want us to mention Blackwell. The fact that he dessimated our team and has left Speed with an absolute rabble has nothing to do with our expectations for Saturday. Even the happiest of 'clappers' must admit that Blackwell has left Speed with a god awful job. That said, Matt Bianco is still ignoring the facts and fighting Blackwells corner.

I must be missing something here because I fail to see how the two are connected. I assumed Houso didnt want us to lump the ball forward for a territory grabbing throw in ?

My expectation is a narrow win maybe 1 or 2-0, and we'll be on the road to recovery.

However if we lose then it will be 200 posts of same old...

1,an attendance around 21k
2, an average first 45 mins where nothings changed
3, Preston score first as they will fancy it against bottom of there league
4, finish winning 2-1 after a much better 2nd half performance with a change in tactics
5, ward to bag after being moved into the centre
6, everyone forgets about the 1st half and goes home happy we have 3 points
