Wilder on next season

Bash is in the final year ,so possibly could be him.

Got to be honest, I always thought Bash would see out his days here in recognition at how the manager and coaching team have managed to improve him

He plays consistently well every game and I'm sure when he arrived at the club, I was a take him or leave him type. But to be fair, he's been a revelation this season and last

Is next season gonna come too soon for us? The lads looked shagged in the last 2 games and with such a quick turnaround, are we going to start where we finished off.

7 weeks between the end of this and the start of next, so 5 weeks short of last summer.

How much time off do players normally have? I think that'll where most of the lost time gets taken from. They've already had 3 months off this year.

Bashsm has been a model of consistency. Assuming he plays on Sunday he will have played between 42-50 games in each of his six seasons with us.

Be great if he can hit 250 league games for us (3 more to go) and 300 overall appearances for us ( 20 more to go).

Unless you play for a top club who can afford to pay you what you want year on year, appearance levels like the above arent as common as what they were 20 years ago.

In fact how many players in recent times have played 300 games for us? I dont know the answer but I bet it’s not many

Think we might start to hear more rumours of players wanting to leave, I didn't think at the time the Leicester criticism was a good idea given how the players have performed this season, calling them league one / championship players will have hurt them no end, they're in the top ten of the highest league, on relative wages to championship players, I think he's had more than one player pull him and now fears others will look for a move this window..

I thought for some time Fleck would return to Rangers, I can see that happening as we've just been dealing with them and playing osborn in flecks role.. Flecks name will have come up no doubt.

Mousse, lundstram and C Robinson are almost certs to go, Leeds and west brom for the English lads wouldn't be a shock..

I worry about Leeds, they do seem to take the cherries off our bakewells a little to regularly for my liking, and will be paying more in wages now than we are, only thing in our favour this time is biesla will look abroad, what'll go against us though is he's played us in the Championship, so knows how good JOC and Egan are.. We could survive with the back 4 we now have, theyre the ones needed for next season.. Keep it tight at the back and survival is more possible.

Wilder had hinted / said we are selling to strengthen, but I worry much less cause we don't get our pants pulled down with him in the negotiation seat, mcabe used to take magic beans, and snatch thier hands off..

Trust the gaffer, but I get the feeling he's insulted them after the season of thier lives.

The players should be man enough to take a slagging off from Wilder for the Leicester performance I do feel sorry for the poor little things if they cant

With regard to Fleck and Rangers
1 - Rangers cant afford the fee we want or Flecks wages
2 - Fleck has just moved into a nice pad in Ranmoor (cant commute to Glasgow from there)
3 - Why would Fleck give up the opportunity for a 2nd season in the PL

I dont worry about L666s poaching any of our players its not the 70s or the 80s

Basham doesn't really fit in to Newcastles transfer strategy, strange one.

If Bash wants to leave I’ll be gutted, but fair enough if it’s a longer contract than we’re offering. He’s a huge reason we are here so he can do what he wants and leave a legend.

If Lunny is demanding too much money, he can just go. He really, really isn’t that good.

Where have all these Bash rumours come from?

Saw a bit in the paper a couple of weeks ago, but that was a load of 2+2=Roast beef sandwich stuff.

Fleck was leaving because his wife made a vague Instagram post. JOC was off to Liverpool because he missed a few games through injury. A story in the paper is practically confirmation to some!

Surely a 7 week break is enough to recharge the batteries. We hopefully won't be playing 3 games a week at any point next season either.

I can actually envisage quite a clear out this summer to be honest.

Didzy, Bill, Moose and Robbo all being told they can (and perhaps should) leave, as going in a different direction.

The starting midfield of Lunny, Fleck and Norwood will be seriously under threat, particularly JL and I can see Berge displacing Oli as the pivot at the back of the three. JF might fancy a crack elsewhere if big money comes a knocking.

I really hope the goalie situation gets resolved sooner rather than later and that the majority of the current established back 5 are still Blades players next term. Again, I can see interest and offers for ALL 5 having to considered by the gaffer, who must carefully decide if the risk of breaking up this incredible defensive unit is actually worth it !!

I'd personally not be averse to giving Bash three years. He's the fittest member of this team (perhaps alongside Baldock) and I don't see that dropping substantially for some time. When we find a mid-long term replacement, he drops to the bench and can do a job from there.

Not a bad shout. And when his legs go he could actually do the Egan role.

Didzy and Billy have just signed new contracts so can’t see them going anywhere. ⚔️

To be fair, he says Sharp’s on his way out every couple of months. It’s a compulsion.

I think Bill will be around as 5th choice striker next season, meaning he'll be on the bench most games. And in truth, what a brilliant 5th choice striker to have...

Appreciate that.

The last window was unsettling for Sharp in particular. He admitted so himself.

Be gobsmacked if there wasn’t interest again as previous. Same for Didsy. 2 yr contract does little more than secure us a modest transfer fee or, more realistically, allow a free in recognition of stellar service so the individual can negotiate a better contract, as both will be nearing the last one they ever sign.

Billy has got a job for life down there - deservedly so. He will only leave when whoever is manager in charge at the time, with 6 games to go, is sacked when we are in a promotion slot. Then they'll give Billy the manager's job and we'll fail to win promotion and he'll be gone. It's called "Morgan's Law".

We have just given 2 year contracts to Didsy & Bill - do you think this was done in order to get a fee for them ?

No.

But contracts are given generally with 2 thoughts in mind. One of which is to protect your assets value. The Lunny situation will rankle with the gaffer. Gave him a chance, which to be fair he grabbed, and is now, by all accounts, angling for a major pay off !!!

That won’t sit well !

Maybe Wilder's post Leicester rant was an attempt at sorting the wheat from the chaff, testing who has the commitment and courage to stick around when it get's tougher than it has been.?
Wilder imho, will keep squeezing every last drop out of those willing to trust his methods and mind set.
He has the belligerence of Fergie. He weren't bad.
They are grown men and very well rewarded and ought to be able to cope with a few harsh words I would hope.

Agree, I trust the man with the whole club top to bottom, he's another Brian Clough, thats how high I rate him, but I just thought the players didn't deserve reminding where they came from, they've run thier blood to piss for him and we've all watched it, we should be celebrating a top ten finish with a relegation side according to the pundits, it's gone a bit flat since that press conference.

But I stress that's my opinion, I respect everybody else's, even if they chose to mock or play the poster.
