Well I've enjoyed the season and were above 17th so I'm happy with that, just a shame were going out with a whimper

Point 5 is the really important one for me. 60 years of mostly disappointment and a weary view that in the end, they always let us down got me thinking that maybe this has been a one off.

However, if you look at what Wilder has achieved in his managerial career, he has progressed every season and he surely isn’t thinking he’s peaked and it’s all downhill from here. There will be fallouts with players, possibly with the Prince too. There will be mistakes made, but on balance, I don’t see anything to make me believe we’ve peaked with him in charge.

As we said last night, if improving league position year on year is the yardstick, going straight into the PL top ten set the bar a bit high, he’d have been better off scraping 17th this season and moving up bit by bit
