I don't understand why we keep Eastwood. Is he actually any good? Only played 16 league games. He's older than Henderson.

Not being a goalkeeping scout, I wouldn't know

Haha so despite not being a GK scout and therefore unable to offer any alternative suggestions, you still feel qualified to moan about the club signing WF? Surely that goes against your own logic.

Being a critic is the easiest thing in the world and show me a GK that hasn't made a bad mistake that led directly to a goal. Perhaps, as the lad obviously wants to join the club, you'll allow him to settle in and show what he can do before coming to a judgement as I and others have done with other players both past and present. You may well be proved right but writing him off before he's played a single game is surely a daft thing to do especially with CW's record of uncovering rough diamonds.

My thoughts exactly.
What an open goal 666 left there for all to tap in.
Mind you, nature of the beast an all that..
FWIW, Pre Henderson, Foderingham was the keeper I'd have liked us to sign.
But like Robbie6etc, I know fuck all. 😉

Good business. Solid keeper I'm pleased. Either Dean or Ramsdale number 1 please.

So your view is that only experts are allowed an opinion? I sure hope you don't vote.

reminder: I have seen him play more than 10 times over the last 8 years. You?

It was your logic not mine that stated you aren't able to offer an opinion unless qualified.

Even with your extensive and impressive scouting of WF at a rate of close to 1 game per season (despite not being a GK scout of course), I think I'll see how he gets on at Utd before casting judgement. However, to answer your question I've probably seen him play live ~5-6 times while he was at STFC.

If, as someone mentioned above, Verrips goes out on loan, then fine. I guess between Fotherington and Moore then we've got decent back-up (you need 3 keepers in the top flight). It's the length of contract which gives me pause for concern.

I have no basis for this but can see Moore and Eastwood leaving and another GK being recruited. Leaving us with GK A, Wes and Verrips

I'd worry that a permanent makes it less likely for a return than a loan.

Wages are a concern already with some players wanting a big advance, can Blades pay Henderson 50-80k a week?
They already are paying his 50k a week wages

We already pay Henderson £50k a week, Man U pay the other £25k a week. This is according to The Athletic.

So at £80k a week then, he would comfortably be the highest earner.

Plus with the £30 million+ fee, it seems a tad unrealistic.
I think £30 million is far too small a fee anyway, given they paid £80 million for Maguire. There's enough pressure there on Woodward as it is, without letting players go on the cheap.

That sounds like Henderson is not coming back to me.

and you are surprised because ???? It was a given for ages he's not coming back you only have to listen to what he wants from the horses mouth.
Two things are most likely to happy, he will go back to Manure and be No.1 or he will go back not being certain of No.1 keeper and someone will swoop in and buy him up.

In a word, no we can't. We need to start thinking about life after Hendo because i really do believe he will be elsewhere sooner or later. Irons out the minor flaws and the guy picks his club.

What might work in Blades favor is that Pope will probably be on the shortlist for sides looking for a keeper, specifically an English one, before Henderson.

I just dont think we will be able to afford him. Personally I'd prefer to see the money spent at the other end of the pitch

I think Hendo has served his purpose, he's been magnificent in our dash up the leagues and a rock in our first season back,, but he's always said openly that Man U is where he wants to end up playing his football.
Sooner or later he will leave, that's for sure, and the longer he stays the bigger will be the hole he'll leave behind him, so I think now is the right time to kick on.
We may not get it right first time, but Mr Wilders not done bad by us so far has he, and at least who ever he gets will be able to play against Man U....... ;)

Farewell tour for Hendo might get more dates added for next season if Wilder charms OGS again, but that'll definitely be it. We're not buying him.

Unless he manages to go to shit entirely he's easily a £50m player.

When you look at how much Kepa cost, and add the "Young and English" tax, he could be an £80m player to Man U.

Think we need to be looking abroad to be honest. Ramsdale doesn't fill me with confidence having watched a few Bournemouth games lately, and they're still in with a shout of staying up anyway.

I don't think this season has done much for Simon Moore.

Literally any goalkeeper could come in and concede 6 goals against Man U.

It's a shame Verrips took a knock against Fylde. It prevented us having a little look at him.

It would be good to have a number 2 who is capable of pushing for no 1 but I can't imagine this is where Chris wants to spend budget.

Eastood is linked already with a loan move to Bolton. That would be a great move.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says the signing of goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, 29, does not mean Dean Henderson will be leaving the club and remains hopeful of keeping the 23-year-old on loan from Manchester United for another season. (Mail on Sunday)

Listened to the latest Undr the Cosh yesterday and Foderingham comes in for some abuse from Si Ferry (I've never heard of him either) based on his time at Swindon and the abuse Di Canio used to give him. "League 1 Wes" was apparently his nickname.

Di Canio is a complete nutcase.

Si Ferry apparently does a similar podcast/YouTube series in Scotland.

that podcast is a must listen. Di Canio is something else. Leon Clarke also fell foul of Di Canio!

League 1 Wes still looks League 1 standard. Been dreadful in the games he's played for us & now not even on our bench. 3 year deal? Another poor 2020 signing.

He's a back up goalkeeper we got on a free. I'm not sure what people were expecting.

someone who has played at a higher level even occasionally? Someone better than Simon Moore and Verrips and Eastwood, all of whom remain on the books?

it was an odd deal and remains an odd deal.

I don't know, he took Kean Bryan out, that's a positive in my book.

In fairness to Eastwood, he has a long term injury and it was hoped that his stint at Kilmarnock would have seasoned him a little bit.
