First time the team has looked tired

In my eyes it was clearly fatigue that has caught up with us, although Leicester did an excellent job on us also. What i thought was unacceptable were the efforts of Moose and Lunny when subbed on - they showed no urgency whatsoever.

Whenever opposition give us no room we have not the passing ability to compete.
When we have space we look good.
Leicester did to us what we have done to several sides, plus they have a few more talented players.

Different game if Baldock plays a simple ball across to an unmarked McBurnie for a tap in after 2mins instead of cutting back to Didsy. And that was as good as it got. To not create a chance against that back 5 is very poor, but hey-ho.

Far too many individual errors today. I lost count of the number of passes going straight to the opposition or into touch. First half Leicester seemed to have way too much time on the ball and our midfield offered the defence no protection. They did a good job of crowding out McGoldrick every time he got the ball, similar to what we did to traore vs wolves. Second half we at least made it look like a contest and the subs seemed to make a difference. I thought the change of system was a strange one and seemed to take what little impetus we had. They seemed to get in on goal every time on the break and two nowt flattered us.
If we play the last two games like tonight then we will lose both. However, if we play like against spurs and Chelsea then I still feel we'll qualify for Europe. Which team will turn up I don't know. Hopefully Everton and Southampton will already have one eye on the (socially distanced) beach

Wilder just got it bang on. We weren't there. They were. They outworked us and just had that quality. Them having the quality is one thing but being outworked is not us.

Even disregarding and tactical errors, individual mistakes and the like I am a little concerned about our away form. We've not been us at every away game since restart.

No knee jerk reaction. Leicester are a good side but that needs addressing as that's nothing to do with them having better players.

Still. Top half of prem in first season is well beyond what anyone predicted, and it may be a blessing in disguise as I feel we may just miss euro league, but we won't be overrun with games.

Never at the races tonight thought it was reminiscent of the game at Anfield but against an inferior team , didn’t think Leicester were owt special today ( thought they were better at The Lane TBH ) they were solid but had the dangerous outlet of Vardy running the channels where we never got behind their 3 centre backs .
Thought we were too narrow particularly first half a long balls down middle we’re meet and drink for their 3 centre backs . Never saw Baldock push on at all think he was over conscious of ball for Vardy into channels & Stevens was quiet , the irony was Osborn put two gret crosses in but was subbed .
Any road just one of those days that have been rare this season , dust our selves down and move on and let’s see what the last 2 brings us ⚔️

Again - bollocks.

We didn't play poorly. We were just outclassed. Never had a sniff. It happens. No need to make excuses.

On to the next one!

Another articulate expert I see!

I beg to differ, we were outclassed yes, but partly because we played so poorly. Be interesting to hear CW's comments. On paper we should have been outclassed by Spurs, Wolves & Chelsea, but we played well & got the results.

Today it was easy to outclass us as most of the team were not at it. But I never was much bothered much about Europe anyway!

Anyway MTLBWY

Not sure it was all tired. Leicester played well. They played to spoil our tactics, which maybe a sign for next season. Not the best result at this stage of season but fuck it let’s go do Everton
Have we been sussed out?

Tired is the perfect description

slow, sloppy, no concentration, slow to react, second to every ball, slow to track runners, Slow to release the ball, just slow. A team on form would have absolutely hammered us today.

We didn't seem up for it today add that together with a clinical Leicester performance and we were made to look average at best. Even though I said we didn't seem up for it I am certainly not going to call it an "off day" as that would be a discredit to how well Leicester played.

Not unhappy, UTB

On to the next one!

Didn't play poorly? Fuk me sideways, we were terrible tonight.

Fair play to Leicester they won at a canter but to say we were anything but abysmal tonight is just telling yourself a lie. We were rubbish tonight. Lack of energy,, lack of attacking threat, sloppy with the ball, constantly caught out at the back...it happens, but at least lets not tell ourselves otherwise.

The first half was undeniably poor and demanded that changes be made.

By the 55 minute mark, however, with just a goal in it, we had made 4 changes that created a complete mess. Yes, we needed to change personnel but we did not need to change the system.

If there is one thing that has been obvious to everyone since the restart, including impartial media observers, it is that we are simply not anywhere near the same team, in either an attacking or defending sense, when the Basham-Egan-O'Connell axis is not there. The whole thing generally goes to pot.

The substitution of Basham was an incredibly poor decision. The back 4 that remained was all over the place, and we were fortunate to not concede several more. At the same time, any semblance of attacking down the flanks was completely stymied. Countless times in the second half, Enda had the ball just over half-way and was looking for JOC only to find that he was not where he usually is, but stood halfway into his own half as part of a central 2. Baldock showed tremendous energy to keep flying up the right (albeit his touch was off all night) but rarely saw the ball without Basham being there to support him.

All of the praise and plaudits that United have received this season highlights the fact that our unique 'system' is so well drilled and that our players play it with the confidence of knowing exactly where their team-mates will be at all times. To abandon that system and go 4-3-3 with 40 minutes left and only a goal down was a poor decision. Change some players within the system by all means - for instance the strikers looked shattered - but don't change the system.

Finally, our complete failure to get at that makeshift defence is a massive disappointment. You would have thought that we would have had some plan to test Morgan on the floor rather than fling it in the air for him to head away. If Leicester have to field that defence against Spurs and Man U, it'll get absolutely torn asunder. Yes, we don't have anything like Kane, Son, Martial, Greenwood or Rashford, but to allow Wes Morgan to stroll through 95 minutes without any alarm was desparately poor.

Concerned? Fuck me... What could we possibly be concerned about at this very moment?

Jees....
Concerned that we’ve scored 1 goal in the last 5 away games like I’ve just said. Not sure why that is difficult to understand but If you are relaxed about that then tell me why.

Don’t come back with we’ve had a great season because I know we have but at any level one goal in 5 away games is a concern

From Chris himself

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder: "We were way off of it. We have taken some enormous steps forward this season, but the goalkeeper kept us in the game, we never deserved anything form the game - off it from the first minute to the 90th, no excuse from us. Technically very poor, physically out-fought.

"We have done a job on a couple of teams recently but their fight was bigger than ours and they wanted the result more.

"They were sharper, quicker in thought and in action. We have helped them get going again."

It was gonna happen but this is the most tired performance I've seen all season... however, mission accomplished, survival...

Totally agree, we were just laboured and slow paced tonight. All I can offer in our defence is that we do seem to struggle against teams who sit deep and play on the counter, Leicester are the masters of this. We never looked like finding a way through tonight. I did wish Baldock in particular would have had a go running at the Leicester defender and try and get to the byline. It was often one on one and he elected to pass it back to a guy further behind and I'm thinking what's he gonna do from there other than a hopeful cross. If there is a weakness to our personal and system with wing backs than for me its our inability to be able to take men on, particularly from the flanks. Not saying that Stevens and Baldock need replacing at all, but we need more creativity particularly against teams who sit deep like Watford, Leicester and Newcastle.

We’ve just played Tottenham, Burnley, Wolves and Chelsea all in the top ten of the premier league and walked away with 10 Points out of a possible 12. The effort that takes over two weeks must be enormous especially with a thread bare squad. It’s no wonder they looked shagged tonight.

Out of interest, how many points would you have predicted in such a run of games?

Summed up perfectly by wilder. We weren’t at it today and it’s perfectly okay to be critical of performances whilst still appreciating what a wonderful season weve had.

I maintain 1 away goal in the last 5 is something that we quickly need to address. Let’s not be blinkered

Agree B , didn’t we had any zip tonight and didn’t look like having any width to get behind them and high balls down the middle were never gonna trouble there 3 centre halves , made Morgan look like Beckenbaur tonight unfortunately.
I know we had to go for it but I thought we lost our shape with the changes and left us open to counter

It’s the biggest gap we’ve had between games since the restart.

I hope CW has realised that with those comments he is being disrespectful to our wonderful side that had given us such a great season.... Like some of us have been saying during the match and after, we were piss poor tonight and made them look good. No complaints, it happens. But to say we weren't total shite is delusion on Wendyites level. Thankfully CW lives in the real world and calls it as it is....everytime. That's why he is such a good manager and he won't have liked it tonight either.

Some people really struggle to say Utd have been piss poor at times. Christ knows they can't have been following us for long.

I'd definitely agree with this, we looked both physically and mentally tired tonight. Many more poor touches, missed first touches than the last 3 games combined. And Leicester are a team that can punish you so easily that it wasn't going to end well

Credit to Rogers, they set up to stop us play, and it worked for them, never seen any team working our midfield as they today, we don't have the individuals so when the team is stopped from playing we're in trouble. Norwood must get down to one/two touches, lost the ball going forward several times today, 3 times Leicester should have scored when he lost the ball beeing crowded out. Today, our defence looked uncertain from the start. Don't underestimate Leicester today, one of their best games all season. Onwards to next game, most players are tired by now, injuries and mistakes are growing, probably the most by the refs. I'll end the night watching the Chelsea game again.......
