Player Suggestion Eberechi Eze

Wouldn’t argue with any of that, but like I said, he’s an attacking midfielder, like Freeman. Not a striker like Mcgoldrick who can drop into midfield when required. can you imagine us under the cosh and having to smash it in the air, up the pitch to Eze? Mcgoldrick, then JoC, are our most important players in the system we use. Trying to replace either is going to be a nightmare of economic proportions.

Blades Analytic’s thoughts from back in May.

For balance, in the same thread he does say that he sees Eze sticking to midfield, as he likes to come deep.

But, I listened to an interview with Ian Holloway not too long ago, who said that the only thing holding Eze back from being a a top, top player was that he still has a lot to learn when it comes to defence.

I know it’ll seem daft to some. But to me that screams ‘stick this guy in “the didzy” role and watch him bloom!’

What's all this stick him in the Didsy role? I think Didsy is best playing the Didsy role TBH.
Because we are looking at beyond next season. As Berge and other signings have proven it can take a year to fully integrate and learn how we play and who better to learn from than the man himself? We can bring him in, let him learn and given the likely new sub rules are here to stay, continue to blood him throughout the season ready for him to take up the torch the season after.

Didsy got 10 years left in him yet.

Without falling into the Higdon trap, just watching a highlights reel of him and there is a player in there and a bit different to what I thought.

He runs with the ball a bit like Giggs or even Messi does, where its more about body feints as apposed to footwork trickery.

I also thought from watching him last year against us he looked a quite selfish player yet the highlights show lots of clever passes that a better strike force would definitely be able to thrive on.

Not sure he has the power and tenacity to play as a second striker in our team... yet. But I'm sure Chris can develop that if he deems the character to be a fit

12 goals and 8 assists from a 22 year old in at best an average championship side could be some class business

If it were obvious how he would fit into the Utd side, I'd be more keen but I really can't work it out. He's not a striker and would struggle at RCM.

And before anyone says it, CW hasn't started with the Duffy/#10 role in over 100 games :)

Eze might not be a perfect fit for our current system, but maybe Mr. Wilder is looking at bringing in players that give him options to roll out different formations.

Over 100 games??? So Duffy wasn’t playing the Duffy role last season??? 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Why weren’t we told?

Personally see him operating in the didzy role. Didzy doesn't take many shots, and he's very often dropping deep to collect the ball and get things moving forwards. On seeing eze play, he seems to operate in that mould. However he's scored 12 times this season in a poor side. So I can see him making that jump up to didzys position, he's certainly got the vision and ability to put the ball away.

When did Duffy last start a game? Actually it might have been the Rotherham game when he was lucky not to get hooked at half time but then scored a cracker.
Perhaps 100 games may have been pushing it but it's been a while! :)

Stand out player in a dire team this season. Warburton doesn't know what to do with him. Wilder would.

Qprs style this season is to try and play out from the back, then bypass midfield by lumping it up front to Hugill.

Well he started the Stoke game, last game of last season, but he was hooked at half time. He also started the Ipswich game, the last home game of last season. So, they’re only 36/37 games ago. Have you missed a season or two?

This fella in my opinion is clear premier league quality. With a top coach he will excel at this level in any system.

Haha I must have :-)
My point still stands though - CW hasn't started with a CAM for quite a while (even though it may not have quite been 100 games ago!)

While not starting a traditional CAM, doesn't Didsy fill that role the way he plays?

We certainly haven’t played the same formation that we did last season. I’ll give you that. 🥳
Does that mean we will play the same way next season? I don’t know. I’d certainly expect us to come up with some variations in the way we play, to keep the opposition guessing and to try and score a few more goals. We’ll definitely need to find a different way of breaking down those teams who come to park the bus and hit us on the break. Would that mean a return to the Duffy role? I don’t know...but I wouldn’t rule it out forever, just because we havent played it this season.

Nixon from the Sun saying 4 teams are in for him but doesn’t mention who. Not great news I know but it’s interesting to see QPR have accepted £4.5m for Osayi-Samuel. Another young talent their fans rave about, some say he’s a better prospect gauging opinion on Twitter. They’re not happy! Seems cheap, could be a good sign for potential Eze fee.

I'm pretty sure one of the clubs is Spurs, so we're probably out of the Eze race.

Ojayi-Samuel has looked decent in games I've seen him in, I didnt realise he was only 22. £4.5m to Club Brugges.

More chance of getting a game here than at Spurs though, if CWAK are really interested in signing him?

Where does he play?
I hear he's poor defensively but not an out and out striker either.
