1. All successful teams are built on top of a great defence, and i think this should be his first priority. We need to get back to what we had in 2008-09, with players capable of initiating offensive moves from the back. For this we'll need a consistent back line, and players like kozzy should only be in the first team if we are down to our absolute bare bones.

2. Bring our ball-playing midfielders into the game. No more bypassing of the midfield, which will only demoralise the players we have that have any craft.

3. Get the best out of Ched.

Anything else?

4. Improve relations with other clubs.

5. Maintain better communications with the supporters (i.e. don't say first thing that comes into head).

6. Take the odd punt on foreign trialists.

We need a right back. The 1st call should be to Harry and asking him which Kyle he doesn't want for a season.
I would suggest picking up that emmanuelle thomas chap from arse to play on the left until he works out whether Quinn can be repaired. and then just work the lads on five a side and keeping shape.
As you can imagine I turned the job down to concentrate on my Chamption management game ;)

Rebuilding his back room staff, and doing the best with what he has, if funds are made available adding strength to the depth of the team, giving the youngersters a nod to fill the bench when we are short.

Maybe we will see a new lease of life from Monty and Quinny? I can't believe the players are as crap as their collective sum has been. One thing I expect of Speed, he knows what a midfield is for and hopefully certain individuals will flourish.

I very much doubt we'll see Monty out of the team, at least not in the short term

Not a first priority but at some point in the near future we might have to look at not playing Ched at all if one of the last bits of his fee is down to appearances.
There was no sign Ched and Cresswell can be a remotely mobile or good enough front two on Saturday. Either play one, probably Cresswell, and two quick wide men (probably bye bye Yeates if we could offload) or restore Ward down the middle - or look to a loaning similar to Camara.

Cresswell was a left winger for Stoke but then Stoke don't play football like most teams do.

I'd love to see Ward played up top for the reasons you state - Cresswell and Ched 7 are too similar. We need to use his pace because no fecker else has any.

Get a result against the smoggies - the sooner he wins a game the better for him, the team and the club.

on a more serious note.. we need two 'proper' fullbacks.. one of blackwell's main failings was that he didn't seem to understand that in recent years full back has become one of the most important and specialised positions in the game.. you don't need to be a brilliant defender.. but you need the engine power of a rolls royce trent.. the days of putting a spare centre back there to fill in the gap are OVER.. we need to sort this out immediately.. we had our best year recently when we could call upon the services of the two kyles.. coincidence?

Yes, both a manager and a coach required!!

Odds on Savage comes and lines his pockets as player-coach?

I'd imagine his first priority will be two members of the back room staff, he'll go for an experienced assistant, didn't he work with Steve Clarke at Newcastle??? And an up and coming coach. At least one of them I would expect will be someone he's worked with before.

Then his second task will be to try and get some bodies in, in before the transfer window ends.

I'd much rather Speed be allowed to get the best out if Quinn, Monty and Taylor than just get rid if them.

Why when so many people are bemoaning our threadbare squad is there so much support for binning three players who are at the very worst can be described decent squad players and are capable of of contributing greatly to games?

If - as has been stated on here many times - Blackwell was incapable of getting the best out of players, there must be more to come from these players. Squinny has never been a winger in my eyes and needs to be played in a more central forward role in midfield. Let Speed put his own ideas in to play and give these guys the opportunity to impress. New manager, new slate. Get behind them and drop the negativity - you could be suprised.

Sorry but these 3 are nowhere near "decent squad players". getting rid of them should just be the start of a major cull to rid us of the garbage currently drawing a wage down at Bramall Lane.

yes because culling 3 squad players makes sense when we don't have the money to buy anyone to replace them....

I'd be very surprised if Speed isn't given some money to spend and getting rid of the some of the crap we have on the books would free funding for further Bosman's. Makes sense to me.
