im surprised that theres been no mention of them pairing up as a management duo.it wasnt that many moons ago that on the back page of the daily star i think it was,it said[SHEAR BLADE]i think it was.please quote me if im wrong.:fishy:Any thoughts on those 2.

Shearer is uncharismatic and thick as mince.

At least Speed is an articulate bloke, but my worry with him is about the force of his character.

Thats what i was thinking deano.2 footballing legends learning there trade, theyve both got too mark there territory somewhere.i dont want any of the has beens or failed old timers.i know shearer was put in charge at the toon for a few outings, but lost a couple of big games to big teams in all fairness.i dont see any harm in taking a gamble on those 2.if we finish top half with the squad we currently have then it would be an achievement.big big changes needed.including our stlye of football to put bums on seats.UTB

This is the same Shearer who apparently didn't do any coaching during his spell at Newcastle? Not sure he will bring anything that would advance us as a team

I'd rather hit Duncan with a hammer too...

Shearer wouldn't surprise me in the least. McCabe would welcome another "trophy" manager for his global footballing family. Unconvinced about Shearer - too little experience - - about 6 games more then Speed. If KMcC needs another trophy manager, I'd rather it be Paul Ince.

Clough and Taylor did OK I seem to recall.

That wasn't a partnership in the style that gav appears to be suggesting. Clough was always the boss. I think Gav is suggesting something along the lines of Evans and Houllier at Liverpool.

I dont know really.just one with the other in a manager and assistant role.maybe speed as the no.1that would be interesting, but the again i dont think shearer would like to be under the wing of a novice manager.

Shearer? Rather hit my hand repeatedly with a hammer...

Shearer?

What is this love affair that fans have with this fella?

He's done nowt imo as a manager and I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole. The 8 match saviour for Newcastle did what I expected to do which was to fail.

He sounds like Alan Hansens glove puppet when he speaks.

I agree with Dunc. Pass me the hammer!

Shearer wouldn't come unless we could give him a load of cash to spunk away. He would be good to atract players and for the club profile etc, but I agree with others, he is as thick as a tramps toenail, has no managerial experience and is living the easy life with his BBC contract. Can you believe some of the shit people come up with for the job tho? Why not Gazza and John Burridge? Cyril Regis and Keith Edwards? surprised that Keegan hasn't been mentioned.

have to agree there. Some names banded around are laughable.

This is the time to remain realistic

We are never goner get O'Neil
Who would want the job, who is worth their salt, without a reasonable transfer budget to work with?
I would never want the likes of Maradonna or Shearer
Megson ffs give it a rest!
We will get someone who is cheap to bring in, like Speed, or perhaps an unemployed manager

Realism is the order of the day.

Hope to God this doesn't come to pass, Shearer is not management material in my eyes. He's no need to do it due to his TV work and vast wealth, he's got zero charisma, he was a bully on th pitch so I see no reason why he wouldn't be as a manager. A lot of people blasted Robson for his apparent lack of emotion and ability to motivate a team... got to say I think Shearer would be worse.

Shearer would be one of the worst choices to manage blades, the guy is a shocking manager.
Speed yeah i wouldnt mind seeing what he'd be like at the helm, but could be a little early to have him manage at the moment
