Our VAR decisions:
Against:
Correct:
McBurnie's disallowed goal against Southampton if you believe that Egan touched the ball
Shelvey's goal given after incorrect offside
Egan's disallowed goal against Brighton - it hit his hand
O'Connell's disallowed goal against Brighton - miles offside
Ward's rescinded red card for Palace
Debatable:
Mousset's disallowed goal against Man City - Mousset at full tilt, too much margin for error for a tight offside call
Wrong:
McGoldrick's goal against Spurs. Even if you accept that Lundstram was offside the initial cross was cleared resetting the play
In favour:
Correct:
Snodgrass's disallowed goal for West Ham - Rice fouled Egan then handled the ball
Kane's disallowed goal for Spurs - Moura fouled but the ball hit his arm
Basham's rescinded red card at Norwich
Not given:
Norwood's goal against Villa (done to death)
Pieters then McNeil's handballs at Burnley
Ward-Prowse's handball against Southampton
The biggest issue is the inconsistency. Kane looked offside from the ball to Son when he scored Spurs' conselation goal at the Lane but that wasn't (obviously) checked whereas they spent 4 mins determining whether Lundstram - four passes and one clearance previously was offside at White Hart Lane. The second biggest issue is that it's being used as a binary, definitive decision when the framerates don't allow for the required margin of error to be calculated - as with the offsides given against Lundstram and Mousset (and Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino and others).
