Fair play, I wasn't aware of these stats. To my eyes he actually had another one of those games where he looked not quite up to it athletically & a little sloppy in possession. He offers so much threat from dead ball scenarios & those deep crosses he whips in from the right hand side, but 8 can't help but think it's still an area we need to strengthen to kick on to the next level.
First 10.mins he was ropey. But how do you upgrade on him, seriously? Theres not many players in the prem that can pick passes like him.

He was a bit sloppy in the first half yesterday but so was everyone else. He was much more on it in the second half.

Hope the OP is reading this.

Norwood's a regular 7.5-8.5 week in, week out. His positional sense allied to his organisational skill make him an essential part of our midfield.

The fact that he sometimes misplaces a pass just shows he's human, but for what we paid for ON he's been a steal. Most importantly, Wilder knows how good Norwood is, and that's all that really matters.

Even if he has a bad game he's still so important to how we play. He drops when a centre back goes forward, picks the ball up from the back and dictates our tempo. Although he's not our best player I'd say he's our most important.

Just watch the whole 2nd half like i did today, His long range passing was something else. And that volley/pass leading to the 2nd goal was bloody amazing

He’s an integral & important part of the system we play as the sitting deep holding player , like other players entitled to off days or quieter periods in the game , consistent performer with the best range of passing of all our midfield players . Quality player that we’d struggle to replace without major outlay

Love Norwood, but why does his first corner of every single home game never goes past the first man?

Loved it yesterday when he nearly had his taken off by the ball. Collective gasp from crowd was tangible but he just shook it off like he'd sneezed. Grealish would have been out for a month. Great footballer.
I actually shouted from the kop yesterday when there centre half had his foot high in the second half was that if that was grealish he would be on the floor till Feb , the twat that he is .

I respect all of your opinions & I agree, Norwood is a smashing player & is great for what we need right now. He has some outstanding attributes & looks every inch a Premier League midfielder.

However, he does have shortcomings and if I'm looking at areas to improve our side (& it's hard, because they're all playing fantastically) then I feel this is one area where I'd like to see some Summer investment.

Norwoods passing was great as usual , but no one's mentioned O'connell.... Played some beautiful long passes yesterday

O’Connell had some great pings yesterday, love Norwood, hope he doesn’t get a booking at Brighton. ⚔️

How much investment do you think it needs to improve upon him?

Think of who we'd attract as a club and what is feasible.

I don't think it is feasible.

His passes were excellent, but 1st half he gave away the ball a fair few times which put pressure on us, and i would go so far to say both him and mousse (who i thought was unusually ineffectual and leggy) came out the worst on the pitch yesterday, the only players below a 7/10

Some of his cross field passes in the second half yesterday were filthy. His accuracy, range and repertoire is almost Beckham like at times.

Sander Berge allegedly turned down our advances in the Summer as he thought we'd be in a relegation battle. The mooted figure was £22m. This Summer, when hopefully we have established ourselves around midtable in the Prem, a player like that will be more attainable.

I have watched Berge play a few times & he's exactly what I'd like to see in there. He may now be on a whole other level, but there must be someone like him in Europe.

Yeah, he'd be a great acquisition.

But I don't think we're as appealing, nor can we offer the wages that Chelsea, Spurs, Man U can.

I'm a fan of Norwood, but of our regular players he is the one who has struggled most since football resumed. Now that Osborn as come in and done so well and Berge settling in, maybe his place in the team is under threat?

On a serious note though, until mainly lunny gets back to being fit I can't see Norwood not playing, I don't think we will be changing from a 3 to a 2 and 1 from the start anytime soon, especially with freeman who would be the best fit at 10 being out as well.

Teams now set up to stop Norwood being able to look up and pick a long pass. Every time they lost the ball on Thursday, Spurs had Bergwijn find Norwood.

He needs to figure out how to have more influence on the game now he is the centre of opposition attention. I'm confident he will

He put a cross in that was so bad I punched my leg in anger and it fucking hurt !

Think he does alright myself. We look slightly rushed without him. Good that we have got competition though.
Exactly this, Norwood is still key and commands respect within the club, he seems to calm things down with his patience. He does need to get more consitent with set-piece delivery though.
We've said it before when he's bad, we're bad, that demonstrates his importance.

Thought he was much better but still not quite on it those lazy backward passes when he's in acres of space frustrate me but then maybe he's not getting a shout or is under instruction.not to turn and face

So many threads like this ....

Norwood is crap as he had a less than perfect game ..... Berge has had a less than perferct game so is shit .... McBurnie has had a less than perfect game so lets call him McShitty... etc etc etc........

I am so glad that I don`t have to be in a relationship with any of you. It must be hell to have to be perfect every second of every day.

I support Sheffield United not Karen United. Whiny fuckers....

Norwood is a good player but is looking a bit out of sorts at the moment.

Berge will replace him in his natural position next season and Norwood will be back up for him.

Norwood is a good player and has served us very well and will contuinue to do so .

My point is that so many people seem to be so very quick to jump on anything less than a 100% fantastic performance, each and every time

Imagine being held up to such unrealistic expectations in your own life.
