Do we Need to Nail Hendo down

True, but ask Norwich what they think of Hendo or Billy. Do you think they would have a problem (hypothetically) taking them on loan?

Not saying he's the best option but he's done ok given the circumstances. He's not a bad keeper.

Re nailing down.

Not really on topic, but my old friend Eric Burgin (RIP) used to like telling the story of how Johnny Wardle once nailed Brian Close's shoes to the dressing room floor, after a disagreement about a game of cards on the train back from Bristol, when they were all in the same Yorkshire CCC side in 1952.

Apologies.

I like Hendo he’s a great keeper but maybe we need to make a decision so do we buy him (can we afford him) or continue to hope that Man Ure look favourably on our request for another seasons loan

Do we say to Hendo we want you permanently and try to buy him or not because sooner or later they will not renew any loan and maybe Hendo would sign for us, who knows.

So we start looking elsewhere or not

Thoughts

If we’ve already got the option of another season then we have a full season to find a replacement as there is little chance of a player spending 4 years on loan at one club. If we can find someone of the same or better quality, who will integrate with the squad for next season then we should do that instead.

With a loan extension, I’m pretty sure that Rip Van Winkel and Bettis will have been making enquiries about next season and it’s the least speculation I’ve ever heard (or not heard) in recent times regarding De Gea so there’s no point in Hendo going back to Man U yet and I’d guess he’s ours if we want to loan him again.

Not sure if your being serious or joking.

Henderson is rated as being a future England goalie for many years.
Man Utd see him as their future and don’t want to sell as he’ll be highly sort after on the Europe’s scene.

We would need to offer much more than his valuation to tempt Man Utd....so we need to offer well over £50 million and Man U might even reject that,
Henderson is massively ambitious and it’s been his life long dream to be a Man Utd regular.
i think we’d need to offer 150K a week to make him think about joining us and even then he’d probably reject it.

Basically the chances of Henderson signing for us is pie in the Sky....it’s impossible unless we do some sort of “buy back” clause fir Man Utd.
Apparently Chelsea are willing to pay him much more to join then on loan.
Now the big question for Man Utd is do t accept the best offer and let him join a rival next season
or accept the worse deal for them (they can afford it) and let him join us for 1 more season.

We should have offered 25million last summer, we wouldn't have lost a penny looking at his performances this season..

Just like mcburnie, his value has increased after a full Premier league season..

Oh, they'll no doubt lone him out but to a team who will pay all his wages.

If he decides not to sign a new contract at man.u he,ll be off to a club playing in Europe on a regular basis and being paid £150-200,00 a week..so forget permanent..another year loan at best.

If we can get him next season within our pay structure then yes we should go for it, because it will be his last year as Man Utd's reserve 'keeper & let's face it he wouldn't sign for us even if we could afford him.
I was really disappointed Verrips didn't play last night & I also really want to know why. We know Moore is not good enough at this level, not his fault we outgrew him so quickly by the way, he is a perfectly decent mid Championship or League 1 'keeper, but if Verrips can't play because of a legal problem why bother having him at all? I have the suspicion Wilder played Moore because of loyalty, which I don't like, but if it is down to Verrips not being good enough i would be disappointed in our recruitment of him.

Apparently hes said if hes not No1 at Man Utd next season(he doesn`t want to be on the bench) he will want to leave with Chelsea and others that could afford the fee and wages interested

Cant blame him he has still a lot to learn and he will be a fantastic England No.1 one day. Just wish we had persuaded him earlier and bought him when he was still in two minds but he is definitely going back end of season unless Solly gives De Gea another chance. I dont think we will have Hendo come September and we will be in the poo poo.

To answer the op, no, go get Watford keeper, cheaper and better (because of his experience, not slating Henderson).

No chance we can afford Hendo for next season , either buy or lendlease. Whats left of our summer budget after £20m on Berge , will have to be spent on creating + scoring goals .... Unless we can recoup our money on McBurnie , Berge , both Robinsons & Mousset.

We need to start to put some pressure on Man U now. The last thing we need is for them to do the same as last close season where they were very slow in deciding whether he could come back on loan. We can't afford to wait this year as it will only be a matter of a few weeks before next season commences. We need to tell Man U quite firmly, we need a decision on Hendo well before this season is complete allowing us time to look elsewhere should they decide to keep him or sell him to possibly a club who can afford him. I'm getting a bit tired of doffing our cap to Man U.

I am sorry mate but I don't agree with that. I actually don't think any of our strikers should be binned off, rather we should be working on ways to create better chances for them, they know where the goal is they just hardly ever get a sniff of it.

Calum's a winger. Berge's , well , no too sure. Mousset only plays half a game. McBurnie might improve with service but without it he doesn't really impose himself.

I wasn't including Berge & Robinson, just the strikers. I certainly don't think we should look to move Sander on though, far far too soon to judge. Callum is a funny one, I wouldn't be surprised if CWAK want to continue to work with him & equally wouldn't be surprised to see him go, probably to WBA.

Agree with everything you said; I don't think the attacking half deserve the flack they're getting. They're not getting the service they need at the minute. When they are, it's not good service.

Great idea to sign Hendo permanently - it's not going to happen though.

While there is a chance he may come back on loan here next season, my gut feeling is he will be loaned abroad (if he isnt going to start for Man United). Some of the bigger European clubs will be swooping, for sure.

Just can't see it now, was always apparent he was going to outgrow us at some point, a la Maguire.

Not sure who'd be available at value, I've mentioned Dubravka a few times.

Maybe guys like McCarthy, Gunn, Gazzaniga, etc could become available at a reasonable price.

Maybe even Ramsdale if Bournemouth drop.

How would you improve their service ?

McCarthy dropped a right bollock this evening, Gunn is shite, Gazzaniga is a bit of a dilbert aswell. Apart from them being Premier League players, none of them would fill me with confidence.

Ramsdale is better than those 3 and is young, but if Bournemouth go down they'll either keep him for a year on PL wages and see if they can come up, or they'll be looking to make up for £100m of lost revenue from a handful of assets, so they'd be asking £20m I'd imagine.

I like Dubravka but no way he’s swapping Newcastle for ourselves unless they buy someone new after their takeover is approved

I don't think we have got a prayer of keeping Hendo.

Either Man United will want him back, or bigger fish will be in for him on loan, and I'm getting the idea that a few of the continental clubs will be looking at him, and the lure of European Football, and Man United won't be keen on lending him to a team who have been their rivals this season.

A new keeper for next season is our top priority, and my choice would be Ramsdale.

I think we should just look elsewhere now tbh. I can't see a loan spell for a third year and we're not going to buy him.
