Try and think of what could have been this season if we had carried on performing as we all know we can.

Now don’t look at table tonight before going to bed.

Badnight.

I hate these posts.

How far do you want to go back to compare? Everyone is well aware of where we were 6 years ago FFS. The fact is, in the present, we were a few wins and decent performances off European competition next year. I can take losing if the right attitude is there, I can't take this manner of losing and I refuse to take into account hot weather as a reason why haven't performed / put in the effort - that really is the same for both sides.

Yes we were shit 6 years ago. We are much better now but these performances still need sorting out.

I think what’s been shown is that our squad isn’t strong enough to compete in Europe just yet although I would love us to do it. We’re still in a great position.

It’s our first season back and we look like finishing top half so I’ll take that.

Wilder will carry on building us up bit by bit. For me where we really need to strengthen is up front. Very disappointed with McBurnie, we really could do with at least one decent striker this next transfer window. I’m not talking £20m either. We need a proven striker at this level.

The season is over 38 games and you end up where you deserve.
A good start doesn't mean anything, it's over the season, and we are clearly well behind some of the teams competing for Europe.

Not sure if anyone has made this point on another thread, but even just looking back to our first year back in the championship, up until the Coutts injury we were flying up there with Wolves, but as we know we tailed off, the next year Wilder adapted got a couple of key players in and look what happened ... There's no denying we aren't firing on all cylinders at the moment, but Wilder and Knill have both shown they can adapt and move forward so I don't think its all doom and gloom

Empty stadiums, hot weather, 100 day break, injuries etc no excuses - "Same for all players...."
No it's not actually. It was obvious that these circumstances were going to favour the more talented/gifted "show-ponies" and give us a reality-check. Our post-war history of serving up "surprises" against our illustrious opponents, especially those travelling up from London on cold wet and windy nights in midweek should be sufficient evidence, if any Blades fans needed any, that these circumstances would expose our weaknesses.
These conditions suit the more technically gifted players "down-to-the-ground". Some players with very heavy price-tags playing under the pressure of expectation from thousands of baying fans will, I'm sure, be revelling in the new found freedoms. We can be in no doubt that Blades fans, both home and away, make a vast difference. Contrast this with the reception Newcastle United and Arsenal have had to deal with, and Man Utd too until their form immediately before the lockdown.
Our game is built on amazing fitness levels, discipline, organisation, team-work and work-rate. Maintaining adequate levels required to negate pass and move specialists like Man Utd in their current form is difficult if not impossible; it's certainly well nigh-impossible given the enforced team changes and having to put Jags out there at the centre of things.
