Jack Robinson

Jack Robinson was another of Wilder’s bizarre signings. There was absolutely nothing in his career to suggest he could make the step up to the Prem.

Not that bizarre at all, he had chased him for a while prior to his move to Forest. There must be qualities he sees in him that he can extract that make him close to JOC but I think Robinson is more of a cover for Stevens than JOC.

Thre's quite a few back ups who arn't good enough not sure why we signed them tbh

Robinson did get forward but the link up play between him and Stevens is not there yet. Also, he isn't quite as a good as JOC defensively but I do think he is a big improvement on Bryan though. He has a decent cross field ping, can tackle a bit but its in the air that I think he struggles most.

That said we may have to put Stevens there til Robinson gets more used to the system.
I don't think he's a big enough unit to be a regular CB in the Prem - if JoC leaves , we'll have to spend some of the fee on a direct replacement.

Robinson J speaks the same language as JOC. That's all there is too it, nothing more.

Just watching the extended highlights of the Tottenham game on YouTube and by my calculations, the throw he takes around the minute mark of the highlights travels 33.4 metres/ 109' 7"

Reyt throw. They're relatively flat and have pacey too, not loopy bullshit.

I'm sure you're right, but he's a specialist pick for left centre back in a three. You have to respect the intelligence of the recruitment, as he represents value for us that he wouldn't for any other prem side.

He might bulk up a bit in summer, whatever we have of it when football finishes this season.

Callum Robinson said one of the first things that happened when he came here was get given a weights program because he didn't do any at Preston. Think it'll be in the plans for JRobinson if he can support it.

Height wise he's fine, basically the same height as Jags and he's done alright, just needs a bit more width.

The bloke is almost 27 years old. I think what we are looking at now, in terms of size and body shape, isn't going to change much at all. Not until he finishes playing football and becomes a publican.

I was uninspired by this signing, but I trust Wilder knows what he's doing. And what I've seen over the past few games is a defender who has slotted in very well actually and made a good contribution. In fact in some games he's been one of the better players on the pitch. I think that's good value for money by anyone's standards. But is he the future? I really doubt it. He has the value of a candle in a powercut. Very pleased to have him around and can be put to good use when there's no other option, but the minute the electric comes on again he'll be back in the cupboard, waiting for next time.

Not saying he has to turn into Scouse Schwarzenegger, or that he has to do it at all, it might not suit his game or be good for him, but it can be done. What about that Bayern player? Goretzka, he did it in lockdown, he's a brick shithouse now.

Brilliant!

And will it make him any better at football if he does? 🤔

I'll bet thi a dozen penny arrow bars that he will not be embarking on a body-building programme anytime soon. It can be done...totally agree...but why would he?

I mean, when I was 14 years old I bought a Bullworker because I'd seen these cartoon ads that suggested that girls are attracted to strong boys, so I wanted to be one. (A strong boy that is, not a girl!). After struggling initially to get it out of its box, I began a regular routine of exercises with it. I had no problem in attracting girls from that point onwards. Then again, I had no problem in attracting girls before I got the Bullworker. So I'm not sure what good it did me tbh?

I have continued to weight train regularly most of my life. I've never had the desire though to be considered a brick shithouse. I do think there's something slightly wrong with blokes who want to go around looking like they've left the coat hanger in their jacket, or walk with the gait of an alligator and have no neck, like Glen Cockerill.

I reckon Jack Robinson is alright as he is and I think if he was going to be the next Arnie Schwarzenegger he'd have done it by now. But, you never know...have you seen what Stefan Scougall looks like now? Picture below...

Maybe the same 'programme' that Lord Lundstram went on last Summer? Or even the one Traeore (sp?) from Wolves follows.... Failing that, he could drop me a line and I could help him put 5kg of muscle mass on by Sept....

And now you're talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger, have I missed something here?

You can improve your strength and power without ending up looking anything like Arnie. A few pound of muscle can make lots of difference if put on in the right places and through correct training

Another very good performance against Spurs to build on the gradual improvement he’s had since coming in. Obviously it would be great to have a fully fit JOC back as soon as we can, but despite his early critics he’s done really well. As much liked as Cranie was last year, the Barnet game and his sub appearance at Villa saw some say they never wanted him to play again – a classic overreaction. Considering the exact position is new to him in terms of the demands, I think he’s done well, and keeps improving as he plays it more – and will be a useful backup for the same position next season.

I think Robbo has really grown into the role the more he has played and in the Spurs game there were signs of him venturing forward as per JOC. Looks good defensively. I think it’s another CWAK good signing at value price. Let’s see. Looks like he’ll be playing at least until the end of the season.
